The problem is lack of supply relative to demand. More supply helps with the problem. The lynch pin is HOW MUCH supply will be made available, if enough is made available so supply can easily meet the demand the entire idea of a 'housing market' will disappear since house flipping is completely reliant on the idea there aren't enough houses to meet demand.

I think if you relinquish a house a 1-24 hour randomized timer should be set. This would make it so house flippers couldn't sell. Or automatically generated wards when ward reaches max capacity. Or incorporate the FFXI system of instanced housing. It would also be a good idea to make 1 account 1 fc house and 1 personal house that is shared among alts.

Thank you all for signing the petition! I really think this was a huge part of it along with all the other threads about housing. It really showed the dev team how much people cared.

I would say housing should be if your characters are on the same server it is shared per server. Because there are some people who play on 2 different servers. So maybe not one account but one per server of each.

Unfortunately if the 3.x patch timeline is any indication 4.2 isn't going to happen until about February.

1 house per account, per server. So you could theoretically own 1 house on every server, but not 2 houses on any one server.

This isn't going to solve anything... the same kind of people wiht alts or interest to just to sell the plots for 300-600mil will somehow be the first ones there again.

I certainly share a level of worry but they did say purchasing the new houses will be handled differently some how. I just hope it isn't an auction system because then places will just go to the super rich rather than super fast.

Personally I would love to see a '1 house per server, per account' go into effect with the ability to pay a monthly fee in cash for more plots. Structured in such a way people paying for extra plots can bank roll resources to open more wards. Someone wants a ward's worth of houses? Great, the money can pay to open up several more. Suddenly decides to stop paying, bunch of plots get freed up and no server strain from empty plots.

I imagine if they did an auction, it would involve players choose a set number of houses they want and the system randomly determining if you got it. So say 100 people choose plot 60. After a certain point, a random roll decides who gets the plot and the appropriate gil subtracted. I can't imagine the devs would be dumb enough to implement a free market auction.

They have had how many years and known the issues for almost as long. We know instanced would help but i do not see this happening anytime if at all soon.
More wards only serves for select few to get housing, heck it may be players that already have 3 or more homes..
Instanced/non-instanced mix or nothing i say

SIGNED for instance housing. More wards won't solve this problem nor will more retainers solve the shortage of storage space.

I hope we get some information soon lol. Do you guys think there will be a live letter ?

I suppose that would be 'better' but I doubt it would satisfy most grievances. and i'd still be pretty frustrated if the person who won already has a house on that server. A random roll auction+'homeless only' purchases for the new wards would seem to be the bare minimum.

I still think they could lower server strain with instancing. How many wards and houses need to be kept up the same amount of time as the servers themselves right now? 2880 plots? Granted with instancing MANY more people would have houses, but only a small fraction of them would be 'active' at any one time. Throw in some code if someone is AFK in their house for 30? minutes they are moved to an already existing hub area and the 'house' instance can be shut down until someone tries to go there again.

So, 67 pages of signatures times ~10 posts per page is ~670 new houses (across all English servers, which, mind is less dramatic). Even with 4.2, are there going to be 670 houses for sale, one new subdivision per housing district?

I am sensing this petition will go on far longer than 4.2 as probably a very small number of people who were disgruntled by the turn of events when SB housing went live actually stopped by to sign the petition. We shall certainly see around February!

I have to disagree with you. It's unfair cause a single player is faster than a FC to grab a house? Tons of FC are without houses, there is open small houses all the time on my server. I imagine it worse on big busy servers and I do agree something needs to change but i'm getting sick and tired of all the salty people who says large is fc only, no its not.

Large houses shouldn't just be for FC's but a rat race shouldn't be a part of house hunting.

It will continue on until they actually listen and not just add more wards

I like some others spend a lot of time crafting outside of my house. I am very fortunate to have spent a lot of time getting the exact location for AH access. I really do like the idea of instanced housing, if it allowed me to do more things than I can do today with my housing. Signed

I wish they would stop adding wards and just expand apartments to become full houses.

I own a large house and find it ludicrous I have 3 large gardening plots as an advantage over people in apartments who can have 2 pots.

Housing is not a right. I hear all sorts of people saying that it is not fair because they do not have time to camp, gil to get or other myriad excuses. Housing is a status item and its scarcity is what makes it popular. The complaints would be the same as people that are not able to experience savage or extreme content because they are not good enough or do not have the time for a static, so they ask for it to be nerfed. If you really want housing reclamation begins again soon, camp the aetherytes if you want it so much. That is what I did and countless other before and after me did. All i see when i come into these threads are a bunch of salty people that just want stuff given to them.

It's quite unfair to have the ability to have 3 large planting nodes and a FC airship compared to people in apts who have 2 pots and no airship access.

Last time i did check, savage and extreme were always available for anybody to do at any moment. I didn't get this kind of discussion when trying it :

Npc at the savage/extreme entrance : "sorry but you cant enter to kill the boss, there is already x00 players with savage/extreme stuff on the server, that's the maximum allowed !".
Me : "uh ? x00 players max for xx000 on the whole, server, are you kidding me ? What do i have to do to get better stuff then ?"
Npc : "well, you have to wait for one of the x00 players to stop paying their subscription for 45 days, and snatch their spot !"
Me : "45 days ? And if nobody among these x00 stop playing ?"
Npc : "well, then you will never get better stuff."
Me : "and if another player get the free spots because i am at school or work irl ?"
Npc : "then you will never get better stuff as well".

Comparing savage and housing is a so flawed argument XD

For my part i will wait for the bigger announced apartments, hopefully if it goes well it will be a first step to true instanced housing.

Give us more houses to buy

I think the number of houses and expanded apartments should equal about 80% of the current player base. I don’t say 100% because I know many who don’t care for housing. That way the people who really care have a good chance on getting a house. Not sure how long it would take but it would be close to double the amount of wards we have currently. Which I support completely! More houses to visit and see someones creativity and passion! (Walks out of my friends stripper dungeon immediately xD)

Not really flawed. Savage and extreme have items and mounts that you will never get unless you have the time and skill to get them. Unfortunately if housing was given to every person that wanted it then it would not be particularly special. The same as if you could just buy the mounts and gear from savage and extreme content it would not be special. If you want to rebut and say that people sell carries through this content all the time, remember that they are at exorbitant prices....and people sell houses all the time too. If people want their own space get an apartment or an FC room. If the issue is gardening, I am sure SE will find some way to add gardening plots to apartments.

If I could garden, even on a limited basis in an apartment, I would very much be satisfied with one.

That was bound to happen. It just happened to coincide with Hurricanes in the south east USA.

I don't think there is any point to increasing the housing unless people are willing to start paying for a "Deluxe" Subscription (I don't want to give SE any ideas here) to give them auto-renewing absentee shop house. Basically you buy a "shop" house instead of a "residence" house that is half way between the residence house, and six fixed retainers that only reside in/outside the house. Give them roles like "item shop", "weapon shop", "resturant" etc and they will just automatically sell those items that have been placed in the "warehouse"

That is ultimately what I think some land barons would want instead of a residence that they can just RP in. "Deluxe" subscription is equal in cost to 6 retainers on top of the normal subscription, so it's attractive to those people who keep asking for more. That would in theory free up space in the existing lots.

But just doling out unlimited housing is ridiculous, as people will just buy them cheaply and then the bottom falls out of the market for all the gold-sink'd items, which is what the house is for in the first place.

Petitions will not get you anywhere. They're well aware there's an issue. It's been brought up in interviews and it's been brought up by them in one of the recent live letters. The only sway we truly have over them is our money.
