You know this was Gubal NM, right?
I thought it was HM, but I don't see why that matters.
I should clarify, that while I disagree with your stance on not raising to start and agree with the SCH, the only reason I started taking part in this is due to your post
You're playing worse here, while not worse enough to cry home about, it's worse. You're outright complaining about the players accepting bad play. It's quite hypocritical - and your notion that "next time someone rips agro, I'll just stand there" is childish, and takes your tantrum out on people who are not even discussing this with you.Quote:
Amazing.
Next time someone rips aggro I'll just stand there and let it chew their face off.
"Sorry, difference in playstyles."
Really amazes me how often this game blames players for refusing to accept bad/ lazy behaviour. Terrible healers get away with everything, and I'm through letting it slide tbh. How dare I suggest using the 10k mana you have in reserve to actually, you know... do something.
Why do DPS insist on attacking mobs that aren't being attacked by the tank? Is this some sort of new meta that I'm unaware of...?
It makes quite a lot of difference actually, considering your whole argument is based on the amount of time it takes to run there and my DPS. You don't even have Royal Authority at that stage.
I had assumed the sarcasm was apparent in that statement, but I forget where I am sometimes. Allow me to clarify: it was sarcasm.Quote:

No, it's just bad habit or play here. At higher levels, the tank aoes have enough umph to keep aggro if placed here and there in the rotations, but if your DPS outgears you something fierce or there is so much flash from attacks all over they can't see who you're hitting from range, you may need to use marks to keep it clean.
You're partially right, in the sense that the overall damage would also be lost by you not being present for a short amount of time. That said, it is better to go back to the start and take the shortcut. It's not a very far walk.
Obviously it was sarcasm, it doesn't make it suddenly not childish nor hypocritical.Quote:

Tanks have good aoe threat from a low level. You can keep AoE threat fine as a PLD in Sastasha. At higher levels, DPS should be AoEing and not targeting markers. Marking and solo focusing threat is a bad habit.
Tonight I became that AST in PotD that only healed herself and trew cards on herself.
Floors 21-30. Party set up: me as AST, a conjurer, a WAR and a sprout pugilist. First thing I notice is the CNJ not using cleric. Next thing was the PUG never dodged any telegraph and aggroed every single enemy by just standing next to it and not doing fudge all, and then running with the mob to the tank. And finally the tank would just do his own thing and not have any interest whatsoever on monsters that were hitting on someone other than himself. Gradually I stopped healing the PUG and he tried to kill me by moving to me when he had agro, hoping for some aoe to catch me. But I just moved away and since I had no hate on his monster, I was just fine. Then he started to deliberately trigger the traps (nope, he wasn't trying to pop a hoard), so I just kept away from him.
This went on through the entire set of floors. The CNJ nuking stone without cleric, the tank minding his own mob, the PUG trying to kill me and actively catching all possible bombs/telegraphs.
The tip of the straw kinda came when I wanted to get that bronze chest (scuse me, I do want a chance at that sherd) and there was ony one monster in the way, and all three decided to just stand at the telepoint with the CNJ pledging "can we move on". So I didn't say a word, killed my mob and got the chest with a juicy set of 3 megapots to the CNJ to which he said "discard".
Last boss, I went full time cleric, nuked like there was no tomorrow, everyone (!!!) else got terrorized every single time, but I minded my own business, got awesome arrows and balances all for myself and finished with a beautiful healer LB2, since nobody else used it and boss was at 2%.
What a beautiful experience.
Asking for a raise, waiting for the raise, denying the raise, respawning, waiting for the shortcut, running back, buffs - it sets back the run by minutes. That's the whole point. A raise takes two seconds.
Obviously to you it wasn't, if you thought I intended to do such a thing. Explain how that's childish and hypocritical?Quote:

Not from my experience on all sides of the equasion.
If your tank is minimally geared, or the others are vastly overgeared, or both, keeping hate can be tricky. Especially on GLD/PLD, who don't have anything but Flash, a prayer, and a high amount of situational awareness, a skill that's generally learned with practice.
And, yes, it doesn't matter at higher levels and gear when you have Sword/Shield Oath, Flash, Circle of Scorn, Spirits Within, and the full RoH combo. I specifically mentioned it's easier at high levels since "the tank aoes have enough umph" then. You're already way over geared for Sastasha if you're a Paladin, not Gladiator, anyway.
That's why I suggest marking targets when hate is otherwise bouncing around.
Ok kiddo, here's a timeline for you from your own post:
0:00 Death
2:00 Raise please
2:03 Respawn and run back.
2:04 No, I'm really slow and it'll take me forever
2:05 DPS and healer get sick, move along
2:06 "Oh no you didn't! Fine!" Tank acts petty, lays there.
3:00 Tank gets kicked
See something here? You wasted 2 mins just laying there. Some of these times are kinda made up, but you said yourself you laid a few minutes and all. And I'm not sure how you run, but taking the shortcut and sprinting to the final boss (I had a wipe recently so I recall) was MAYBE 30s. Casting protect is 2s. Where you're pulling minutes from is beyond me. Also, a raise is.... what, 10s as no healer would waste swiftcast at that point. You not only exaggerate horribly (and are getting called on it), you wasted 2 minutes and who knows how long you threw your tantrum for. You can't complain about lazy/toxic, yet advocate the same. This is one of those times where the poster caused the issue and ain't happy they're getting called on it.
And pulling hate in Gubal NM is not hard if a tank has weakness. Sorry, I'd rather have every advantage we can get.
How not be helpful STARING!

"Kind of made up" - completely unrealistic and irrelevant, I think are the words you're looking for. The irony of you accusing someone else of exaggeration...
As I said before. Between asking for the raise, explaining, being denied the raise, respawning back, running back to the group and buffs - it's just the same amount of time, if not more, only we could have actually progressed further had they ressed in the first place. If someone asks for a raise, don't be petty and just do it; even a hardcast raise is 7 seconds at most. As for "no healer would waste SC" - what are you waiting for, an S rank to suddenly appear? Your reflexes to give out? It's a 60 second cooldown. And any tank worth their salt can keep aggro with weakness.
I was asking for a raise until I was kicked, which wasn't terribly long after. The time was already wasted from when it became apparent I was waiting/ their subsequent refusal, whether or not I respawned.
Hmm. Though I probably might agree with you that the healer should have given you a raise when you asked for it (even after a little while) this is how I would have handled the situation.
Me: Hey! I bit the dust. Can I get a rez pls!
Healer: Nha, just respawn. You wont get weakness.
Me: Mmmm. mk
Done.
Nobody would have gotten kicked, nobody would have gotten their feelings hurt. Would have also been no big deal if we were only talking a couple of minuets of time lost.
I know it's an excessively long time to go by before replying to this, so sorry.
I think you're misunderstanding something here. I have never seen PF entries for leveling roulette, and even if there were the new weekly does require leveling ROULETTE, which cannot be done unsynced.
That misunderstanding aside, I do agree. I shouldn't expect someone doing the content at-level to cater to the desires of an end-game player looking to speed through outdated stuff for Anima, WT, whatever. As I said, it was a petty complaint made for petty reasons early in the morning.
Was Mt'ing A11 and before Propeller Wind, one DPS gets marked with a prey (that one with the 3 explosion AoE) Some people died along and after it came the Optical Sight with multiple AoE's on the field. Alright everyone died except OT and me, but we died some seconds after.
Then someone said to me that It was my fault and Im making everyone lose time.
Really, I passed out when I readed that for 1 week.
A9, in which I had no idea what was going on but I didn't like it.
The PLD stubbornly stayed in Sword Oath, while the DRK had Grit on but not Darkside. At level 60, this is a huge blaring alarm for me. But if I tried to explain how to put on both Grit and Darkside to every DRK I met in DF, I would never get anything done.
At Faust Z, despite this DRK being reasonably-geared, and despite both SCHs having over 19k HP, the DRK's HP is hopping on a pogo stick. I am not looking forward to the scrap machine.
We wiped once, probably because of low DPS, because predictably enough, the DRK died, and that kicked off a game of Punch The BLM Dead. It's incredible how being dead kills your DPS. The PLD begrudgingly took aggro, but only after a couple of us DPS were dead.
Is it cheaper to continuously ress a tank than to heal them? I have no idea, but I suppose those SCHs were trying to find out.
Either way, I don't know what happened because I just stopped paying attention after I died, in an effort to preserve my sanity. It's always things like these that suck all the willpower and enthusiasm from me.
A Slime tried to play a game of punch the Elezen dead in PotD. So it was me a NIN and three Miqos; a WAR, MNK, and AST. Nothing with a auto-pull. We were standing on the platform and there was a slime at the end of the room. I was against the wall and the three miqo were between me and it. Countdown 3, 2 the slime turns around.
http://i.imgur.com/KTvlf0a.gif
And makes a bee line straight for me ignoring everyone else. And that wasn't even the weirdest pull. The WAR tomahawked one of the roamers and it aggro'd on the MNK who was in another room. All kinds of weird shenanigans happened too. That was a fun run. I think they were all in an FC together because I got all three comms.
Yesterday in Gubal HM, I had this DRK who kept spamming Abyssal Drain. I mean, it was actually cool, she held aggro, she helped melting mobs extremely fast, - I couldn't even Flare at some pulls because things just died too fast - she never had any mana issues and we cleared the dungeon in 12 minutes. BUT THIS HORRIBLE SOUND OF ABYSSAL DRAIN ASDFGHJKL
That was the crux of it, really. I raise people regardless of where we are as a matter of course - it's my job, and if they don't want weakness they can just decline it and respawn if they prefer. To not raise off the bat is one thing, but to continually refuse a request to make a point... I don't believe "but weakness" is an adequate reason either; I have yet to see a tank raised between pulls die from it. It just seemed so petty and rude, and I had no desire oblige such a person. Kudos if you do, I suppose.
First time in World of Darkness last night. The whole Crystal Tower has been a stress factory for me, watching guides, reading strats, the whole shebang. We get in, and it's going pretty okay. I noticed one of our DRG's had the last name of Highwind. I think "Cool, he's a big FF fan. I bet he put a lot of effort into getting good at DRG."
Haha, no. This guy had perpetual Weakness. He was dying left and right. If he wasn't tanking the floor, he was getting rezzed, to go back and do it again. I have never seen somebody who was a bigger walking poster child for DRG memes. It was something really special.
Even on single target, I can rip hate off my adequately (but not over-)geared sproutling tank who is faithfully spamming his aggro combo...with 2 or 3 hits in my 250+ gear. That's how broken ilvl sync in level sync is.
Let me throw Fire II and they can Flash until their MP is dry, I'm gonna be the one tanking all the mobs. It's rough, and it isn't made easier by DPS intentionally attacking a different target than the tank.
Oh, so I didn't imagine that kind of stuff. Was in PotD on MNK today, and still opening chests in one room, the others had gone ahead 2 rooms, and suddenly monsters aggroed me through the wall from the room the others were in and ran through 2 rooms to try and kill me. I thought I was going mad, but seems the aggro is somewhat faulty in there^^°
That's Khorchi, only obtainable through Gold Saucer and horribly elusive ;-;
Got to meet Selli in World of Darkness yesterday. Not a bad run, but it's always nerve-wracking to end up in a party/alliance with some of the forumers. Especially when it's through Mentor roulette and I get this nagging obligation to say/do something to help/nag the new people about mechanics/things everyone already knows.
Page 666, oh my
Quoting myself because this happens every week.

She says hello. She also says that she feels bad that she had no idea there was a forum-goer in the party. She says that if you see her again, that she'll be happy to chat with you and give you her commendation and she apologizes for being quiet that run.
On topic, had a really interesting Expert last night. Had a BRD who was seemingly impatient, always gone before all the mobs had even died and they rarely were in range for Swiftcast + Stoneskin II. At the end of the run he left before the chest was even opened and he ended up missing out on the minion. I just found it very odd that he was so horribly impatient, even though it was a speed run and the whole thing took about 15 minutes. Oh well.
Just here to post on the Devils page 0.o
The other day something funny happened in my 50 roulette. Got Qarn HM (oh joy) with a friend. Me (drk) my friend (mnk) and the other mnk died on the first boss because it started casting the sand pit attack at 3% health. Usually we just burn through this portion but dps was a tad slow because my MNK friend and the other dps weren't synced. Before I realized it, all 3 of our characters heads were going under the sand and then BOOM! all 3 dead before I could even react. Luckily the healer burned through the last 2% of its health and saved us from a wipe. We had a good laugh over it and the rest of the run went off without a hitch. I found it funny because I had never actually died to that mechanic before until that run lol
Technically Raid finder not DF. but Queued Soph Ex. Duty complete > completion on scholar. 20 minutes later group dings, everyone dies real fast. tank notices lots of people with unusual hp.
Whm using a 142 cane, and 250 fending accessories, drk using caster accessories and a 190 relic. and a brd sporting a 160 bow with str accessories. all friends apparently.....
needless to say we didn't make a second attempt....
Alexander 12... Seems everyone needed a warm up run. I saw the enrage for the first time EVER from that raid. Now I feel like DFing some "Forward and back and then forward and back"
EDIT: So... not so much forward and back... but I decided to try my first ever mentor roulette. Was nervous as all heck when A5 popped up. I say this is my first ever mentor roulette so go easy on me (after having a moan about the game not honouring my PvE Mentor status and changing me to standard Mentor status... dafuq?), which everyone had a chuckle about. I was tanking (rather than my usual healing)... I lost aggro every which way too (GG DPS, too OP for this paladin). We get through Faust with a couple of deaths because I forgot how to hold aggro.
Then we get to the boss. So, instead of trying to explain everything, I say "Alright, for our first attempt, let's just blitzkrieg it to get a feel for the fight, if we wipe, we'll see what went wrong". So we did, and we wiped. So I started explaining mechanics and getting information across in a calm manner. Use the waypoints moving them around to highlight positions for certain mechanics. Quite a tough thing to do I've found, kudos to those who can do it easily! So, with knowledge in hand of the mechanics that caught people out, we try again. And we beat it, somewhat messily, but without any really major mess ups. 5 new people, brought through the instance due to my guidance and support. Then this happened...
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachmen...96/unknown.png
With 2 more comms not shown. I was blushing like crazy. To the people in that instance, you did a damn good job and you should be proud of yourselves!
EDIT 2: Since I aren't trying to name and shame, but rather name and praise, do I still have to edit out the names? Or can I show off the names?
I got in with them today! They died really fast and the DPS was very very slow I couldn't believe that people just que to hinder other people in a raid setting :/ we wiped on the first Aero III because everyone but me and the sch didn't dodge it sigh. We kept trying and trying despite their gear but we didn't even get past the Demiurges DPS wasn't high enough even with me going war and Fel Cleaving everything.

Yesterday in Thordan extreme and the other healer keep DCing every few seconds.
It was very unsual as he would appear and disappear and appear very second.
I am guessing nobody speak english and for some reason they didnt want to remove the DC healer but i am fine with it.
Instead they decided to go ahead with one healer instead and warn us there will be no LB 3.
Nobody said a word and we started.
I gotta say that run was super fun and awesome! Had a few people died and was close to being wipe on meteor phase as the big meteor coming down on us but we manage to smash it to bits.
I signal the monk to LB 2 and we won!
I didnt get the round lanner whistle and i forget to commend the healer. He solo heal through out the whole fight.
To that awesome healer, sorry i forget to commend you but i told my FC how amazing you were and they are impressed! :D
Cheers!
