i liked stormblood and i don't know why people hate it so much.

Ultima Thule's story was not good.

It just wasn't as good as Heavensward that's why. It lacked the same focus as HW did because it was trying to tell 2 different stories.

Players, especially mentors are too willing to try to "teach" players and tell them the solution to everything too quickly. Maybe it's because they're trying to make everything as smooth as possible, maybe it's because they want to help.
Unwanted or Unprompted advice is incredibly common in this game and players act surprised and sometimes hostile when someone doesn't want to hear their tips right away without asking.

For example, when I did Smileton the first time, the tank in my party stopped and refused to pull until we heard an explanation of all the mechanics beforehand. I don't want that! Let me try first and if I die then I die.

Alright, since you asked for it, I give you my hottest take: Lalafells should never have been a playable race. The idea of a Lalafell Warrior of Light is as dumb as the idea of a Kobold Warrior of Light. Lalafells should just have been a beast tribe from the start.

more buttons doesnt necessarily make something interesting or fun when fewer buttons will suffice.

plenty of examples of this but reapers soul slice and soul scythe. they share a recast timer, so why do they need to be separate abilities? Just keep the aoe one, buff its potency to match the ST one, and give it damage falloff past primary target the way they did with communio.

same deal with shadow of death and whorl of death

almost any of the melee dps's combo chains. you never want to press a button out of sequence, why dont they just consolidate combo chains into one button and have them update as their combo actions become available like it does in pvp (sorry monk, this wouldnt do anything to help you in pve). dragoon could save 6 keybinds just by collapsing its ST combo into true thrust and its aoe combo into doom spike.

Zenos is a good character.

Melee positionals are nothing but busywork. They don't add depth, they don't feel rewarding, they just feel like a mild punishment for bosses uncontrollably spinning.

To follow on from this, anything more than around 24 buttons including duty actions and potions etc is actually too much. There's a major button bloat problem with just about every class in this game and Square Enix need to a great pruning to solve it.

Endwalker should never have happened. Immensely disappointing resolution.

blue mage having never been added at all would be better than it's current incarnation.

viera shouldn't have been forced in for ShB and those animation assets likely were originally for female hrothgar.
the bunnies could easily be held off until whatever expac comes after EW (after presumably having dealt with everything in ivalice/dalmasca being freed)

Yes, its one of those things where we desperatly need an backup for bad luck...

An opportunity was missed with YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse.

They could've revealed that the Automata crew was returning to one of the remaining shards, that shard being a vague reference to the future of our world. This would've added a profound implication to the potential fate of the reflections in EW, enhancing XIV's lore meaningfully instead of them just being "here and gone in a haze of obscurity".

Don't know if this is a hot take or not but i want to see more races, or atleast better customization on existing ones, not just Viera and Hrothgar.

true. some things in the story definitely should not have been there in the first place.

When someone asks for a recommendation on the strongest class, it's ok to actually tell them the numerically strongest class. It won't end the world.

The community is so averse to being seen as "meta slaves", that even when someone clearly states they enjoy the gameplay of multiple classes equally, they will always get spammed with "pick what you enjoy, dps doesn't matter in this game, you'll do worse with a class you don't like" and the question never actually gets answered. It's such a simple question, but taboo to answer it directly.

Another one is that there are far, far more players who obsess over the idea that people use only logs to stroke their ego, than the actual handful who use logs to stroke their ego.

The writer for the ARR/HW story should have come back to helm Endwalker. I'll say it, I don't mind. The new writer that replaced him has been hit and miss at best.

The fact that SE charges $5 for event food item furnishings that can be easily ruined is ridiculous. Give us a freaking toggle to turn off usability of the food. :(

Lets take this even further. FFXIV should never have happened. 2.0 and beyond was a mistake and I rather wish this game crashed and burn at 1.0 than having this timeline where I have to interact and spend my time arguing over the current game with all of you turbo nerds.

What do you mean Zenos isn't the best FF villain?!

Oh, here's another hot take. Zenos was such a cardboard cutout of a bad guy it was almost insulting and when they had the chance to do something neat or interesting with the character during EW he instead gets relegated to a deus ex machina during the finale just because the story could not continue without it. Seven hells, he could be replaced with any flying entity and the finale would still work. How dare you remind me how terrible the EW finale was. :/

Let us swap the interior style of houses; we can already change the outside... Interior style shouldn't be locked to the zone the house is in.

Lets not forget the blandness of Emet-Selch. By the gods was his motivations extremely stupid and boring. Like at that point I already stopped caring about the Ascians. We already knew they were trying to bring back their world. Doesnt excuse the millions and millions of lives they snuffed for it. And now were supposed to be all buddy buddy with him? Oh boo hoo

At least Emet had a reason to do what he did and by his logic he was restoring those he loved by smashing a bunch of ant farms. When you are a human, you don't think about the things you step on or the insects you kill when they enter your room/house. It was the same thing so you could at least see his point of view. What was Zeno's end goal again? Oh yeah, evil goku without the plot armor.

FFXIV has one of the creepiest most potentially toxic community I've seen in an MMO.

Heyyy, I look out for the bugs and critters beneath me as best I can. I also free flies, spiders, and whatever else wanders into our house. They're just trying to live their best bug lives....gotta help 'em out at times!

I do still love me some ShB Emet though. EW Emet simply does not exist in my mind as I hate that they turned him all chummy and blech.

Arguably the story could continue without zenos appearing deus ex machina. The relief from saving the scions should have been sufficiently strong on the dynamis, and if not that, then the sheer determination to save everything certainly would have.
Alternatively, middy should have come around for the finale using dynamis to wake up and prove to her that even when some wished to die, others would still wish to live in the most dire of circumstances. Plus he'd approve of us forgiving the meteon before the dead ends since its apparently within him to forgive ishgard and omega

Flies tend to get a pass though, mostly because they're exhausting to chase around. Just not worth it. They've got short life spans anyway. lol
