Why are low standards for dps acceptable?

Even on youtube it's hard to found a good video that show how to play your class. People saying on dungeon ''Do you know how to play your class ?'' . Of course that they don't because no one never teach them on a polite way.

Reading, comprehension, and trying the skills as you get them goes a long way while leveling.

No one had to tell me to keep up heavy thrust, and piercing defense reduction to do as much damage as I can as a DRG. There was a help window for what combos are. The weapon skill tooltips even mention attacks do more when they were used after another specific attack. The game isn't at fault for the level 50 and 60 DRGs I had to teach the basics when I too started from 1 and didn't ask or look for someone to hold my hand. I still give them the benefit of the doubt despite it all, and not insult their intelligence; I just think they chose not to read, and would blame the game for it.

Also, this was a case of a person not pressing a button who's effect is literally 'You Do More Damage'. Is there really an excuse to not press a button that literally says this?

Not talking about Dragoon. But other class like Ninja for example. It's normally to see them using just combos and not mudras.

There was more than one class quest that literally teaches you how to use mudras.

Let's assume they play beat em up games. Let's also say they get % buff moves they can use to more easily down enemies. If the conditions to win are literally only "kill bad guys" they aren't going to care about the speed at which they die as long as the game says "you won" so if they find spamming 2-3 moves instead of the whole arsenal enough for victory they won't feel the need to do more cuz they are meeting the win condition.

To get to 60 without ever using say blood for blood. Sometimes YES these people need some explaining and a new mindset. Casual games getting easier and easier and killing self improve mindsets.

I'm so very tired of people saying the game doesn't teach the player, when it does. The game is at fault for not compelling people to use what they learned more, but that should be human nature to do so, but people are just not driven enough by themselves.

There was one for koton at the same time as raiton, and there's raiton-revisited in the HW ninja class quest.

The most the NIN quests are guilty of is not holding the player's hand through huton, and suiton use as they did with fuma, and raiton, but I wanted to do more damage, so I learned.

I completely agree with everything you said. Sadly the game we play has a pretty big population of people who apparently cannot read and must mash their way through stuff without learning what they should actually be doing and don't react well to criticism at all.

We also have a group of people who don't offer advice or constructive criticism in a good way at all.

I feel if duty finder level of skill improved you'd find more people using it. I myself will only use it as a last resort as I've grown tired of seeing me out DPS the DPS as my scholar.

Right? According to some people here, if you say something like "Hey bard, can you use Foe Requiem, please?" you are being rude. They expect us to stop at the middle of the dungeon and write an essay, then get on our knees and apologize 3x, so we maaaaybe will not offend the majesty, just maybe. Oh, and you have to accept if the glorious majesty tell you to shut up, otherwise you are being elitist. What the hell. This mentality is so surreal and amusing at the same time.


Like I said earlier, I just carry the bad/lazy players when I use DF, it's not a big deal to me, if I have at least another decent player in the party I'll have fun. But it's so sad that a part of our playerbase want to be seen as perfect, they will never acknowledge any advice, perfect snowflakes. I have never seem this before, this level of entitlement, not even in known "toxic" playerbases, like League of Legends.

Luckily, in-game is not as bad as in the official forums, I get bad players, but I also get good players at the same time.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. While I understand the frustration of the better players, who take the time to read tooltips and whatnot, there are a lot of people who feel beating the bad guy is good enough.

It does no good to get into the mindset that they should know all their abilities and rotation. The "beat them up" player is usually not interested in such things. They aren't interested in efficiency.

They just want to "win."

Now, over time a "beat them up" player can be guided to become a better player but getting upset because "they should have known what to do already" just makes things unpleasant for everyone.

Anyways, everyone should take a nice, long breath, hold it for ten seconds, then let it out. This thread is getting a bit too salty.
