No, it's not opinionated ranting. It's the logical assessment of what will happen. If the the crafting community and the combat community they need to purchase their goods advance at wildly different rates, the economy will be screwed, period. If people are just leap-frogging all the lower levels, the lower level content will fall by the wayside, period.
Just because his design represents freedom of choice doesn't mean it's not inherently flawed or executed poorly.
