FFXI's Puppetmaster says hi.
http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/...20130721062653
Puppetmaster isn't iconic in the series, hell it almost wasn't a thing it was introduced last minute to replace necromancer because it didn't "fit" final fantasy. Don't get me wrong I like puppetmaster and it was my main in FFXI, but I don't see it being added unless yoshi-p really really likes the job and sees a niche for it ingame. Plus puppetmaster has an identity crisis it cannot be a hybrid so if it's added it'll be like AST "FFXIV original job". I think the best bet for PUP being added is to merge FFXI PUP with mime from older FFs.
Saying that though, things like Geomancer and Beastmaster just for examples as they were mentioned, are hardly iconic to the series either, having only being used in a few games, and only 1-2 main series games. If we want to claim them as iconic, then technically Puppetmaster has been in games beforehand too. FFIV had a Puppetmaster villain, and Cait Sith could be considered the Puppet of it's Master Reeve in VII, and Lulu in X was a Puppetmaster/Black Mage hybrid.
True they have puppetmaster aspects but it wasn't a job until 2007, and even then it has never been reintroduced so puppetmaster is in the lowest tier of wanted jobs next to gunblade users which as of yet has no job in the series. In my opinion PUP was a very fun and original job in the series but any chance of it being reintroduced has been destroyed by FFXI thanks to their poorly executed release. If puppetmaster was on par with BLU and COR I bet we would have seen them much more in the series. But SE released them horribly broken which damaged their reputation. (I believe Astrologian will suffer the same fate in the series because of it being released broken at launch.)
I see a lot of people talking about the Blue vs Red reference, you guys must not forget that Heavenward have 蒼天(blue sky) in it title and Stormblood have 紅蓮 (red lotus) on the title. So most of these references are from the transition from the blue themed Ishgard to the Red themed Ala Mhigo. Maybe we will get blue mage, but I sincerely believe most of these references are for the expansions, not teasing any job.
I don't care what the poem is about just confirm Blue Mage as a tank already so i can drop paladin.
I see a lot of people speculating based on the woman in the trailer, discussing if she is a DNC or a MNK. That woman obvipusly isn't Uda, she doesn't have the tattoos in her neck, which wasn't forgotten by SE because in ARR opening you see her tattoo.
Sooooo that's certain to be here sister. Being her sister, an Ala Mhigan and being parte of the resistance, she probably was trained with martial arts like Yda, but why couldn't she develop a love and interest in Dancing, mixing martial arts (offensive stance) with dancing moves/posture (buff/debuff/healing stance)?
So I'm hoping, and want só bad, SE is bringing DNC. Come to papa!
And once again yes, there is a lot of unrelated blue and red references been thrown around. It has people that hope for BLU really going crazy and people who hope is not BLU pointing out is crazy talk.
I personally don't care which class it is I just love the speculation.
I just know that if in the end it's BLU my reaction will be

for all the clever it isn't but it is stuff
While I'm fine with it being her sister, it also isn't "obviously" her either because of the lack of neck tattoo's. Including them in the trailer would have been a massive give away to 3.5 and/or 4.0. Even the 3.5 art is oddly missing the neck tattoo's of Yda. Also in the Heavensward teaser trailer every dragon was Hreasvalger. There's not certain until 3.5 or 3.55 which Yoshi said we'll be meeting that character.
Also MNK is heavily based on the Chinese systems of Martial Arts which are known for fluid and dance-like movements. All I see honestly is a very performance based opening to a Baguazhang form, not actual dancing. I'm all for dancer but if they do it I'd personally like it to be a bit more "less Monk" than what the woman was doing.
Just want to point out that people shouldn't be looking at the girl in the cinematic and saying she is either 100% a Monk or 100% a Dancer. First of all, it's a cinematic that is artistically stylized, but it is also important to remember that certain NPC do not follow the same job restrictions that we do. We have seen examples of characters that use abilities beyond what their job would normally allow. Not everything is black and white.
My honest opinion of the lady in red is that she does portray herself as a Monk, but she might be mixing in some Dancer moves. Alternatively, the opposite could be said, but just based on the what is shown in the footage I would say she is mostly in line with Monk.
Also let us not forget that speculation on Dancer as a possible job addition for Stormblood has more behind it than a cinematic video. It has been previously stated that the Moonfire Faire provided hints towards the upcoming jobs. For that reason, I still believe we are getting three with either all three upfront or with one already in the pipeline to be added in a patch update. But in any case, there is still the matter of the yellow ranger pose being identical to one of the poses used by Dancer in FFXI. I do not believe that is a coincidence.
I take it you have never been around different types of dancers before? I do this for a living for TV and movies, I have been trained in many different ways to dance and dancing how she does in the opening is very common. I've been in music videos and done many things where they ask me to dance and fight like that. At many calls we are expected to perform aerials like that mixed in with fighting techniques. I do not call myself a monk by any means lol.
No, I have not personally been around different types of dancers before. I'm also sure you are a very talented dancer. But, I don't see how any of those are relevant. Do you mean to say that only dancers can tell when someone is dancing? Because, I can use my perception and observation to interpret when I see something that could be indicated as a dance. Can I classify and define what each and every jig, salsa, mamba, rumba, and pow wow is? No, probably not. But if I were to see someone doing anything similar to those, my brain would click and say, (aha) they are dancing. I did not get that from the Stormblood trialer.
Lufir - that's fine, I was just explaining my point of view :) all I meant was to me that is why I see her as a dancer and less of a monk. After all this is all just speculation. Never meant to imply that only a dancer can recognize another one, just meant that is why it popped in my head so quickly. Haha thinking about it though a dancer in xiv would be hilarious if all they did was dance with no action xD
ZioSerpe - if you want to see me on TV, without breaking NDA all I can say is keep an eye out on Bull on CBS. Also lmao love the spiderman pic haha (I dont wanna derail the thread lol)
Well, I could flail my arms and legs wildly into the air and you could "interpret" that as dance if you want to. :P
Lmao that would be very silly lufir, and picturing your lalafell doing that made me laugh even harder xD
Haha but for real, I train for weeks on technique and mix fighting with dancing a lot for different film projects. That seems to be the popular thing right now lol. I would never say someone would see that in everyday life but they def have me doing it on set.
But anyway I do feel if dancer came out it would have to do more then just dance like a normal, everyday dancer. Yoshida would want to add some fighting aspect to it and I feel what the girl did with the cloth and her moves in the trailer would be fun. And to be on topic it seems like that is the way Spider-Man fights. Again, just fun speculation.
May I point out that there is such thing in our world as Capoeira?
Also @Iromi: I live live in Taiwan, kinda hard to watch CBS.
Something else to consider on the Dancer theory is that, if it is indeed a Job, then it has been designed for Combat, as all Jobs hold that aspect. Whether she heals, tanks, or DPS's, a Dancer as a Job would be in combat. You're not going to be doing the Chicken Dance in the middle of a fight, you're going to be Dancing in a manner that allows you to dodge enemy moves, strike enemy weak points, and close or widen the gap between you and your target. In short, Dancer -should- look a lot like Monk.
All I know is if Dancer does become the next job, I would like it to be less monk-like.
Way less monk-like than the trailer.
Don't need a monk clone when we already have monk.
Agreed. And Dancer should not at all look like Monk.
Monks are all about discipline and the Martial Art above all else. Dancers should be all about the art first, and then the fighting. Kind of Xena's acrobatic prowess with a bit less brutal violence blended with Gabriel's more artistic sensibility...and veils, lots of veils.
Well if you think about it all three healers have a lot of basic moves that look similar the major difference is their weapon and their signature moves. AST is a copy of SCH ans WHM except for their signature moves (cards). The difference in weapons changes the animations but deep down a lot of the actions do the same thing. I bet dancer will look like a mix of Monk and Nin, with signature dance moves.
Spiderman shirt = Way Of The Spider = Dancer Same style as the girl in the Stormblood Trailer.

To explain "dancer will happen" lets try it the easy way:
Heavensward - shown Jobgear was Dragoon
Stoormblood - shown jobgear was Monk
But then we have the girl: Jobgear Monk is already confirmed: its the one from the guy! Redmage is the one from Teaser, so what other job could have such a gear? Dancer!
I would like to point something more interesting - while "he" is wearing gloves as weapon, what is "she" wearing? To attack with a "kick" could be a hint to tell us her weapon are the shoes, the feet... well lets forget about the "kick" and just ask directly: is she wearing any weapon? What weapon could it be for dancer because in ffxiv we change job by changing weapons!
One other interesting thing: Matoya!Quote:
They are the only healer class that does not rely on magic.

In the "Tome of Darkness, the Dancer's Tale: The Dancer of The Battlefield", the Warriors of Darkness meet a dancer named Matoya. At the end of this chapter, the Warriors gain access to the Dancer job.
Quote:
Matoya is a witch from the original Final Fantasy who lives in a cave. She cannot see without the use of a special Crystal Eye, which was stolen from her by the sorcerer Astos.
My guess is that dancer is the 3rd job, same as astrologean was 2015.
A little off topic but I've been meaning to ask. Is that hairstyle the one from the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding? Or from one of the books you buy in the Gold Saucer? I tried making a female Miqo'te once and all the hairstyles just irked me really bad. That one is actually very nice, and I wish there were more hairstyles like that available to all races.
It's almost like she's a unique named story character and thus warrants a unique costume that only she gets, to go along with her unique twist on being a monk which may or may not be reflected in game at all if she ever fights (she will use her fists etc.)
Once again people are so desperate for dancer they're willing to accept a knockoff monk in order to get it. SE's not gonna do that.
Some of you really need to look at the Thavnairian bustier.. It's basically what the girl in red is wearing and it's already in game. She is a monk. Period.
