Uh, if you read up, I actually did compromise. I said as long as PvE and storyline content was not in the area, I would be okay with a zone for PVP. Is that not conpromise? I just don’t want to be ganked trying to do the story relating to the Beast Tribes. Is it so hard to understand solo players don’t enjoy being mob rushed by 8 people who like interupting people’s questing or blocking/camping PvE content. See: ArcheageQuote:

And that's what was proposed before, yet people came thundering in basically saying that was too much and PvP shouldn't even be in the game. Need I remind you that they asked for a zone. An area with a clearly defined entry/exit point, and with notification of entering said area, of course. They said no PvE objectives or anything that would otherwise require someone uninterested in PvP to ever even have to look in its direction. They even suggested repurposing an area that's otherwise unused or dead now, but you'd think they asked for a complete overhaul of the game to be a PvP one with the way people have reacted.
You say it should stay separate, and people are asking for separate, but the truth is, many just hate the idea so much that they're refusing to an uneven compromise in their favor. -

There are a lot of contradicting viewpoints and suggestions here. My alarm was OP’s suggestion of adding beast tribes and fates. Which, in other games with open world PVP, is just bait to get PvE players to come out so they can get ganked. In the world of MMOs, there is already a set negative connotation with PVP. I came to FF14 to avoid those PVPers. I would quit if Square Enix changed the atmosphere or feel. I like our current community, and those who just like stories like from single player games, it’s an allure that makes them want to get their feet wet in an MMO. To avoid super competition and just play co-op woth friends. We got enough dog eat dog in this world. Fantasy is an escape from the real world.
Final Fantasy 14 is not an Open World Sandbox like Archeage where the story is kind of an afterthought and PVP is the focus. FF14 is focused on story and PVE content, and PVP is the afterthought. It is extra things to do. This is what people are worried about. Suddenly adding an open world PVP zone could change the dynamics of the game community; people don’t want to attract the bad actors of other games. Their concerns are just as valid as yours. You’re getting angry because our compromises aren’t enough for you. The pount we’re making here: Ff14 is different than other games with a mostly positive community and we wanna keep it that way.
Literally, the majority of people here are just wanting you to understand we don’t like having to be paranoid that we’re talking to an NPC or looking at a map and suddenly here comes 8 people on a war path just because they can. You all gave these ideas and contradicting viewpoints and now you set the stage for misunderstanding.
My compromise is keep PVE out of it, dedicate it solely to PVP, and we’re good. I’m not gonna budge or discard anyone else’s opinion, nor am I gonna demand anyone else to agree with it. I’m above personal attacks for different opinions. -

PLD Cover or DRK TBN could be used as a shield along with SCH, etc. Crafters would get to intense with rotations but gathering could be pretty straight forward. More people can switch when there aren't enemies to accumulate resources but contested nodes could get interesting with people racing to accumulate the resource to repair their specific seige weapons (Cannons, Catapults, Etc.). Also have it be death doesn't remove items accumulated. This format would work best in an open zone as you have one faction controlling a castle, etc.Quote:

I totally understand this. I don't want to force anyone to participate but instanced zones also come with their own problems. Diadem is a perfect example. I would like to go gather in Diadem but I can't because I need to wait for 8 people or get another person and go through my FC. Open World allows for adhoc, everyone can participate. Now Open World doesn't have to be mandatory which is why I included the link above. The Wolves Den Arena is another perfect example. You can walk into the arena and no one is going to gank you.
