Yeah that was my first thought too. You can't just grab that whole pack and run to the last boss. You can grab the Dhalmels and drag them into the pack, kill the pack and leave the Dhalmels behind but it doesn't make them de-aggro. They stay aggroed onto the tank.Quote:

Did the main story DF. Ugh. Got Praetorium and a few jerk speed runners. Now don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly fine with a speed run. Especially on Prae and castrum. However, one guy wasn't even patient enough to wait an extra 3 seconds so we could all get onto elevators and the such (and therefore, left people behind and I had to take it back up so they could get down). He'd start elevator's with half the party on and leave the other half behind. He was a BLM that also seemed to think he was a tank as he nearly started every battle because he didn't wait for anything. I don't mind the speed run mindset, but hot damn, it annoys me when people are so focused on it, they literally leave half the party behind. Fortunately, the half that was with him were competent. When i asked him to slow down just a bit so we don't leave people behind who are BARELY behind them he got on his high horse and went on a random rant about cutscenes (also saying that if it's someone's first time, they shouldn't bother doing anything and just watch a youtube on how to run the dungeon later...). God i hate cast and prae. I don't mind the actual dungeon, I just hate the uppity elitist's

Last night for low level roulette I got Dzamael Darkhold. Me (BRD) and PLD tank were both 60, MNK was 45 with other 60 classes, healer was new.
PLD pulls the first group and just stands there fighting, we kill and move on to 2nd group. This is the group in the purple shit that deflects most damage. Tank moves all mobs out of purple including himself.
I say "if you tank in purple you'll take no damage." Trying to be helpful, maybe he hasn't done it before. Well, he doesn't budge, doesn't say anything.
We move on to the bigger room with lots of monsters. He just stands off to the side tanking instead of pulling to purple.
MNK gets mad and says "tank.pull.to.purple. level 60 and still doesn't know this place."
Tank says "it's been a while, dick"
I try to keep the peace saying we're just tryin to help, and you're going to have to pull to purple to attack first boss.
Tank started pulling to purple, rest of run went smoothly. -

Was in a Fractal with a DPS Healer. First boss they get real low in health because they were focusing so much on DPS. Like 200 HP. I used physick as my summoner to keep them from going down and they get "annoyed" with me (emote style) and refuse to heal me the rest of the fight, letting me die...

Drk who didn't use Darkside on anything else than bosses and had mostly 53 lvl gear. No problem, I can heal just can't do much dps.
Mch who didn't use Wildfire or Hot shot. HOT SHOT. Just Gauss Barrel. Yes he used other abilites like Blood for blood, Raging Strikes and Hawk's Eye but Hot Shot just made me sad and I even asked him twice to use it. ONCE I saw him use it and then just... URGH. -

This happened in my early tanking career. One night, one hour before maintenance, I decided that I wanted to give a duty one last go for the night. I register for a duty as a Paladin, and I'm immediately pulled into a run-in-progress.
"Gee, I wonder why the other tank isn't here," I wondered ironically. I didn't know it at the time, but I had my answer the very second my party mate replied... in Spanish.
Okay, I thought, kicking off the run.
We're doing just fine for a while, and then I realize I'm DEAD! Yes, DEAD. My death came about as sudden as that phone call the morning after prom night, from your girlfriend, who's telling you, "I'm pregnant!"
Anyhoo.
It turned out that that Spanish-speaking buddy was... the healer. Yes, the healer. I immediately, immediately, immediately, immediately saw what went wrong: he was still in Cleric Stance, and he made no effort to heal me. Ever. It was about as scary as visiting your 39-year-old drunken in-laws on Thanksgiving night, and finding out your boyfriend is out cheating on you with another man. It was THAT SCARY.
Anyhoo.
I tried to say, "We got this, guyze! >_<~b" or something, and the healer said, "I don't speak English" -- in the auto-translate. "Well, that's just great," I thought. I couldn't figure out how to talk to him.
Then the nightmare began.
The minute I respawned, the healer was darting through Copperbell faster than Mario 64 when his butt catches on fire, except I wasn't laughing. :(
He pulled every single monster along the way, all the way to the first boss room, while I was standing there asking him, "What's going on?"
"I don't speak English" He dies. I should add right now, that I tried to pull one of the monsters off a DPS who tried to catch up with him. The healer was in the boss room, and I was deader than your dead-head 49-year-old grandmother at a Grateful Dead concert.
I was THAT DEAD.
I get irritated and ask, "Who's the leader?"
"I don't speak English."
"Okay, well..." I leave. -

11-09-2015, 03:51 AMshaniantotally possible! i dont know why but with 3.0 changes to aoe skills its like new players that use the job suddenly grew a true aversion to any aoe skills and avoid them like plague. i have never seen as many single targeters dps, be it blm smn drg or even nin or mnk (to b fair idk if nin got a decent aoe skill at all, never did the job) they just -dont- aoe even when you have 7 mobs beating up the tank. the skills arent as good as before .. but heeeello their still usefull! oh and yeah dot are a total waste of time (sarcasm!)Quote:

OK so, I'll use these stories for a question: I'm currently leveling BLM, and as lv38 my rotation is something like this:
Fire III > Raging Strikes > Fire till MP low > Convert > Fire x2 > Blizz III > Thunder II > Fire III > Fire (repeat)
I mean, is that good enough? I don't have firestarter yet and tranposing before Fire III ends up wasting a Fire 1 cast altogether... -

Ran Cutters today as my DRK. Healer died at 80%, along with the drg and we didn't have a summoner to rez them. I used bloodbath to heal myself (dark arts not available at that level) and continued to attack and dodge it until we got it down to 11% at which point he got me. Then blm finished it off by kiting xD

Tank can't hold hate. Um. Well. Okay. ._. They're a WAR and they do have Defiance on, I didn't see them OP/Flashing though. They are joking around with the healer, so maybe I'll just attack one target and see if he picks up off his WHM friend when he losses aggro. WHM is healing tank, adds come over, start attacking healer, healer stands there, heals the tank once and then dies.
Whut.
This happens about 3 more times so I decide to just DoT everything to avoid the healer dying, because this is getting ridiculous. The healer isn't even healing themself at all. As I pull adds off this healer, I do not get healed ONCE for saving his butt. In fact, after I die, I don't even get raised. I'm forced to return and run back to the group. Every. Single. Trash. Pack.
"Why aren't I getting any heals?" I ask.
Healer replies, "I only heal the tank. If you die, that's your own fault. You should learn how to DPS properly."
F*cking... what...
Well. I was in queue for nearly 2 hours for this run, I'll just push through it and I'm sure it'll be okay.
After an agonizing 50+ minutes we make it to the final boss. The lights come on, the other DPS and I are the only two to turn them off and we're at about 50% HP when the adds come (still not a single Medica or single-target heal on anyone but the tank), adds proceed to one shot the healer. We wipe. This happens at least twice.
Healer says something like, "I wish these DPS could DPS better, we'd be done already."
EXCUSE ME
At this point I completely snap at this guy. I've never met such a lazy person with such a big ego. As the ONLY one in the party with healing abilities, you'd think to use them on the other people in the party or even yourself? Tank starts to go off on me because his friend is "playing the class correctly", so I gave him an earful on his abilities too.
Timer hits 0. The dungeon expires. I avoided the vote kick for losing my cool, but I also lost out on my roulette.
[EDIT] I'm more of a "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". I will give pointers if people are willing to listen, but these two were definitely in their own little world. I don't think I've ever flipped out on anyone that bad in my life. I'm kind of surprised there aren't screenshots of that conversation floating about. -

Got Keeper of the Lake. Went in with a friend who is a dragoon. A bard and scholar join us. Looking at the set up, things don't look to bad. Both are geared just fine. I do the first pull and pull both mobs at the start thinking we should breeze through this dungeon. I. Was. Wrong. After pulling the first 2 mobs, I notice my hp was very low within about 10 seconds and I'm sitting here thinking, where's my heals? Get down to couple hundred hp. Still no heals. I had already popped some defense CD's... should I pop more? I die while thinking about it. First thoughts, maybe I pulled too fast and the healer wasn't ready. I apologize after we wipe. Healer said sorry as well as he wasn't ready. Ok, no big deal. Get to first boss. Going through it, we're about 1/2 through and things were going fine in my head. I kept all the aggro from the boss and the adds. Then I realize my hp is down in the hundreds again. I look and see the healer is dead... wtf. Nothing was attacking him... We wipe. I'm confused because I have no clue what could of killed the healer (and his fairy). He apparently got blown up by a cannister. We do it again and pull through. Ok, it's fine.
Next up, the imperial mobs. Shouldn't be a big deal. Pull all the imperials (only 8 enemies...) and group them up. Dragoon and Bard are doing their thing and laying down some good AoE on top of them while I keep them aggro'd and in a tight group. My hp is getting low though and I even have to pop hallow ground. Look and healer's dead again... My friend said he was standing behind me (out of my line of sight so I couldn't see him) and taking all the AoE's to the face and didn't move. We wipe again... We killed 4 of the imperials, but the 2 colossus were still up with a few imperials. Decide to only attack as little as I can since the healer is obviously not up to par and I made sure now to keep an eye on where he was standing to try to avoid getting him hit by AoE's. We get to the 2nd boss. Going through it, my hp is down in the hundreds again about 1/2 way in. I look and see the healer is dead... we wipe. We all talk a bit and go for it again. We seem to all understand the game plan. Go in again. We wipe again... This time, i see EXACTLY why we wiped. The healer never moved from his original spot. You know how that boss turns parts of the floor into burning lava pits? Yea... He sat in them. Just taking damage and not even healing himself. We tell him he needs to move out of the AoE and we get through on the 3rd try. We're about 30 minutes into the dungeon now. Ok, we continue pushing through.
We get through and now we're at the spot with all the little dragons and drakes. You know, that place where random AoE's aim at you... (I'm sure you can imagine what happens next!). Soooo, once again, the healer stood in the AoE's that the airship launches at you. At this point, the rest of us are trying to be nice, but telling him that he REALLY needs to get out of the AoE's. He still ends up taking a few, but he lives and we get through. We're finally at Midgardsormr. Thank god (or so i thought). Start wailing away at Midgardsormr's face. He raises the 1st dragon. About 1/2 hp on the 1st dragon and what do you know. The healer's dead. I bet I know what happened (hint: it has to do with AoE's). We wipe of course (because we're not even past half hp on the 1st damn dragon). We're trying to give advice to the healer. Told him to just follow the Bard around wherever he goes. Told him to heal himself if needed before me because if the healer goes down, it's a definite wipe. I told him I have some defensive CD's and I could survive an extra second for him to avoid the AoE and if really needed, hallow ground to be invincible for a few seconds. We go in again. We wipe. We took down the 1st dragon this time though, but only got about 1/2 hp down on the 2nd. We've now been in the dungeon for 40 minutes... Now we're all pretty fed up. Healer says he feels like he's got the handle on things now. Ok, we're masochists. We'll do another go with this healer. This time, the bard makes a mistake. Bard dies and healer tries to res him while my hp is about 1000. Bard has to tell healer to stop and heal us and keep the party alive and get him when there's more opportunity (thank you bard). We get through the 1st dragon and we're slaming away at the big dragon face. 2nd dragon is getting up. Healer is finally getting the bard up (without swiftcast). Bard gets up. 2nd dragon apparently didn't like that... he turns and hits him with an aoe almost immediately after he's res'd. I honestly laughed at this part. It was horrible and unfortunate timing. Healer goes down before we can kill of the 2nd dragon though.
We're all fuming at this point. We've been doing this dungeon for nearly an hour now. We say sorry to the poor fella and do a vote kick (which the bard mistook for an abandon dungeon, so he didn't get kicked immediately). In the meantime, scholar say's he's not normally a healer, but a dps and isn't great at healing (no shit). He's voted out. Btw, he was lvl 51 and had all of the ilvl 90 gear. Not the best, but still, if you got all that, you should know how to do your job somewhat (like avoid AoE's). New healer comes in within a few seconds. We go into the fight and kill it in a few min. Went without too much issue aside from the Bard dying once (but was promptly res'd).
So that's the story of the longest and most painful dungeon i've been in to date. -

Rolled only my second run against Garuda Extreme and half the group basically dicked around most of the fight. They refused to separate Chirada and Suparna, which wiped us, then kept circling them around, which caused another wipe. Third time we finally managed, though the tank and healer (the two problems) got a bunch of us killed for either having no idea of the fight mechanics or just not caring.
Ironically, my initial run was with almost an entirely new group. And through we wiped, they adapted much better than the supposed 60s. -

We proceed to head back to the boss and one of the DPS had to do a quick afk for something. Waited for 30 seconds and then the tank starts the fight while the DPS was still afk. He gets locked out, we wipe again and then the tank suddenly starts to behave like a child and halting the entire dungeon and demanding that we kick him. So for the next 10 to 15 minutes we fought with the tank by telling him to simply leave if he wanted to go that badly. Eventually we just kicked him followed by a report. In the time we spent fighting that tank, we could have just simply killed the boss and been out of the dungeon.

I think we were in the Aery and everything had been going fairly well, a quiet group but we made smooth progress so no complaints. Then we were standing outside of the final boss gate and the tank and the other dps suddenly started having a fight - using only emotes.
Not a word was exchanged in the chat. It was all "X slaps Y", "Y shakes his fist at X" for several minutes. Myself and the healer just standing there trying to figure out what was going on. Then they made up (still through emotes) and we went in and cleared it. I left none the wiser. -
