I don't think Mid is even physically here, I think he is speaking in our head, his body is just a creation of our mind.

Well, at that point in the story Cid isn't quite himself yet (doesn't fully come back until after Enterprise engages), and I don't *think* Alphinaud has the clout that he comes to have as the story advances.
But if he's not there, how are we supposed to ride around on Mountgardsormr?
Come to think of it, I don't recall fighting ANY Dravnians that actually had horns. Horns seem to be more of a Voidsent thing than a Dragon Thing in Eorzea. Almost all Voidsent have them but I don't recall ever seeing a Dragon with one. And I've killed A LOT of dragons.
I think the split is pretty even actually, shoot if you look in the Heavensward opening move, basically all those dragons have horns, I think it might be a hierarchy sort of thing of the scalekin, with lesser dragons like the aevis lacking horns, while the higher class ones such as Vishap or those ones assaulting Ishgard have very noticeable horns. Voidsent is a pretty big catagory too, which ranges from stuff like primals and elementals basically too, though the demons and succubi do have horns (Which the Au Ra seem to be pulling more of their look from) , though the succubi also have the presence of ears, which is something the Au Ra lack.
Maybe they once lobbed an Au Ra traveller off those cliffs and when he or she went splat at the bottom the went 'hmm, maybe we were wrong about them being dragons'.
There is the possibility that Ishgard may have already studied the Au Ra and have acknowledged the fact that they are not related to dragons despite their outside appearance, or some scholars from Sharlayan did and shared said knowledge at some point in time. Like many things, we (the adventurer) may just be out of the loop at the end of the day, while everyone else "knows" these facts about them and just didn't bother ever bringing it up. I doubt they've been hidden away in secret for centuries.
"Well, that last dragon-like person didn't suddenly become a dragon... But maybe this one will!" Then they toss more Au Ra off the cliff! As they do with all supposed heretics or anyone with a smidgen of dragon relationship. Wouldn't be surprised if that's how we get Mountgardsormr to be honest.
I can't say for sure, but if they tossed a few dozen Au Ra off the cliff and none of them turned into / were saved by dragons, I'd like to believe even the zealous idiots what make up Ishgardian infantry would figure out there's no direct connection. Y'know, from the pile of corpses.
Guys lets be reasobable here, if you all change to an AuRa with a fantasia you will still be able to enter to Ishgard. I think that solve lots of questions. Probable ncp dialoge will change but, if they are letting them in withouth any interference from the poeple that makes me think that they have they reasons.
Well of course you'd be able to, but the real question is why would a bunch of paranoid dragon-hating fanatics allow anything that looks remotely draconic into their city? After the events of the stuff we see in Coerthas I wouldn't believe for a moment that even the higher ups would allow it, even if they were desperate. I mean outside of game reasons, but we're not looking at those because they're basically arbitrary.
Its possible that atleast a few Au Ra were among those who helped found Ishgard to begin with, leading to them being trusted. Just throwing out a small theory since we won't know for another month...wish it was June...
Agreed, wish it was June already :P Or at least late May, I wanna know Xaela naming patterns. Personally, considering the Ascians hanging around the Ishgard's pope, I wouldn't be surprised if they're the ones allowing Au Ra in and out, along with the HoL, as a trap maybe.
I wonder if/hope they're going to drop the naming conventions around the time of the Live Letter, since that's on the 21st.
SE please ヽ( ̄д ̄)ノ
I expect their mistrust of us as Au Ra will just get rolled in with their mistrust of us as outsiders. There's already a whole series of quests revolving around the fact that they don't trust us and don't want us there, and we need to earn their trust before we can accomplish much of anything in Coerthas. So it wouldn't take much rewriting, maybe just one or two places where the NPC dialog says something along the lines of "go away, we don't like outsiders" could be changed to "go away, we don't like your kind" if we're playing an Au Ra at the time. Then suddenly that whole chain of earning-their-trust quests becomes about overcoming their Au Ra prejudice.
The difference between the current races and the Au Ra though is that people so easily mistake the Au Ra for beings with draconic origins. While it might be easy for them to go "Well, you guys did save our lives, I suppose we can allow you in" to the current races, the Ishgardians despise anything that looks draconic (RIP Leafy Seadragons). So, while forgoing their xenophobia might be possible due to desperation or actual gratitude, their straight up hatred towards draconic things won't be so easily let go of.
bump because I want the darn naming conventions ;n;
Agreed ;_; I was sooo expecting those to be released today or something, but like absolutely nothing. At least we still have 10 days left in May?
Ive been thinking and wondering, Au ra's got no ears right? Where are the earings going to be? on the horns? :)
They will be on the horns, strangely enough near the more thinner parts near the head. I kinda expect them to be near the end, hanging off them, but like nope, they're closer to the base
You can see them in the benchmark, they are very close to the head :(
So you know how Au Ra hear with their horns? And how they're from Othard, the Asia of Hydaelyn? Apparently the Longs, the dragons of China, in at least one myth also hear with their horns. I'm aware that Au Ra aren't related to dragons, but I can't help but think they were an inspiration for their horns there.
I always kind of saw the horns as less auditory nerves and more like hard funnel for incoming vibrations, like the outside part of your ear helps channel sounds into your actual ear better.. But I still get what you mean, and I'd love if you could find a source on that claim. I still think it's poppycock that the Au Ra aren't related to the dragons in any way, especially when that one person brought up the Vietnamese people's origin myth.
Hello !
What about the naming convention for Auri ? It's becoming a little bit long °L° Some devs here to answer that ?
This. This is what I'm rolling with.

The warm+dark skintones available are just the best.
My only regret is no muscle slider. Also, anxious for name conventions.
Okay I didn't see anything so thanks ! :)
