This isn't what I want at all FWIW.
I want to see a significant difference in wearing gear of lvl 40 and lvl 50, right now most of your damage stats are heavily focused on weapons only.
And armour makes very little difference if you are naked or not, as proved by naked Ifrit and Moogle fights.
The way I would do it would make level mostly irrelevant all be it for a few base and allocated stats, then move all stats to gear, physical damage stat should be across all pieces of equipment including armour. (you would still be required to level to wear armour)
This way if you are wearing nothing you get 1 shot unless you are fighting something lvl 1-5.
