Dragoons... how do you feel post 4.0?

It's hard for me to grasp what made them change Dragoon the way they did, just like it's hard for me to understand why they changed Warrior to be the way it is. I'm hoping most of this classes issues are resolved by the time Savage rolls around, as I'd rather not be forced to switch. Without any fixes though I can't in good conscious take this class into raid and expect my static to carry me. I've been raiding on Dragoon since I started playing and have cleared pretty much everything with it. I was really hoping we'd get a single target attack that took the place of Geirskogul so we would have the option of pushing single target damage or using it for aoe. LotD could have brought this by transforming Jump and Geirskogul to be higher potency abilities, but instead we only get crummy Nastrond.

does anyone else thing jump timings should be reset when entering LotD?

To be honest as someone who uses Duty Finder a lot, i don't really care if they don't get close. Im used to make due with what I have. Something is better than nothing. If that means I have to use it on the tank so be it (my dmg buff is higher than theirs anyway). What triggers me is even when you use it on the tank (regardless if it's the most optimal person to use it on or not) i still can't have the dmg boost on the both of us and do positionals without resorting to True North or just ignore Dragon Sight (i've been told i keep the 10% dmg even if the tether is broken, which means i can at least use it as a self buff if everything else fails.)

I'm also very... macro-making impaired or anything software related >.>

But it's a mmo and you should try to coordinate with other players to make both your and their experience more pleasant. I was just pointing out the obvious.

I've been playing DRG as a main since ARR but it saddens me to say that if they do not fix this fast, I may be jumping ship too. I was considering MCH because I've played that up to 56 (never touched PotD on it so I understand the job and like it so far) but even that job seems low on the totem pole of dps/support.

I might have to join the RDM or SAM parade...

i'm not expecting for them to listen. I have fun and the WAR i queue with also loves it so bleh. (i wouldn't be surprised if he pumped more dmg than them anyway)

PS: I am jaded and I have comformed to others being really unaware / not competent.

I've been a dragoon main since beta and after all the changes we've been through, I've stubbornly hung on. From horrible animation locks to having 1/2 the magic defense and getting 1 shot from unavoidable mechanics, from being the lowest melee dps and having horrible aoe and TP management, I've stubbornly held on because I love the job, its concept, its story. With that said. As a 70 dragoon, I might finally have to move away from my most beloved job for several reasons.

1. LOTD - takes too long to activate, hardly ever used in 4 man duties and only useable once or twice in extremes, falls off during every boss-away mechanics.

2. Nastrond - At BEST we get to use this 3 times once activated, like above, hardly ever used in 4 man and once or twice in extremes

3. Mirage Dive - Animation takes so long that this "OFF GCD" cannot be weaved with anything and pretty much acts like a GCD

4. Dragon Sight - Only really useful during an opener where you can at least put this on the MT, if the other dps are too far but once mechanics start happening, this will hardly ever be used or useful as the range is too short, unless you can perfectly coordinate with a dps who will do the dance with you

5. AOE - I have to admit, I can sustain my AOE for significantly longer than before but still one of the weakest of all DPS jobs

6. Feint - Still an almost useless skill outside of progression extremes and savage, hardly ever used as job role skill

7. Removal of Phlebotomize and leg sweep dmg - The potency increases on our other skills do not make up for the loss of our dot and a leg sweep on a short cooldown. You can easily test this on a dummy or SSS and using only the 60 rotation and skills.

Thank you dragoon for giving me the opportunity to play you out but I'll finally bite the bullet and switch to a samuri or ninja.

Actually the sword phase is great for dragoon because you use your eye stacks from phase 1 and allow to build 3 eyes and both jump and SSD are up before susano comes back and you can perform a 3 Nastrond opener. It's not that hard, just inconvenient.

In a perfect world this would work but we all know people waste time during mob pulls and you can only use BotD but so much.

Yeah I said earlier that you should either pull ahead, be a deadweight or get a tank friend. Option 2 seems the worst for me, I'd rather have a tank in duty finder hate me than being a useless piece of chocobo dung in a dungeon x'D

in short rotation stays very similar to old lvl 60 rotation but instead of managing BotD you're taking care of GotFB which is supricingly fun; definetly better than only BotD.

but it does take very long time at start to build all of those 4 GotFB stacks and could be made significantly shorter and if i remember correctly that was also the case with summoners and their dreadwyrm trance in start of HW.

i wish that SE would give ring of thorns back and un nerf doom spike;
and then have sonic thrust as 2 different combo finisher with potency of 170 from ring of thorns while increasing BotD and potency of 200 from doom spike but that would probaply end for too much AoE dps at that point.
also i'd like to get ala morn and wyvern pet with mini akh morn since summoners already have bahamut and akh morn.

p.s. for all of you who have said how mirage dive clips GCD and having animation lock!?! why you keep using it instantly after jump or spineshatter dive.

p.s.s. only problem i see with with dragon sight is if you use it on someone and they start running away from you, it's easy and fun to use once you learn it.

p.s.s.s. also i'am easily able to compete with all other dps, exept skilled SAM ofc but they have their own shenanananakins
