Yeah Nidhogg trial is why I avoid trial roulette now, people just cannot do it.
Yeah Nidhogg trial is why I avoid trial roulette now, people just cannot do it.
It doesn't. The only things that affect limit break damage are the average ilvl of the party's weapons, and whatever shields the boss has up. The caster's buffs don't affect it at all.
In other news, I queued for Leveling Roulette as BLM today. Insta-queue too, which was surprising. Then when I load in, I immediately see why.
It's the Vault. New WAR, new DRG, SCH not new but at level 58 unsynced.
It's not that their attitudes were bad. They were rather nice, all things considered. But still... We made it to Charibert with no wipes, though the tank and DRG died to Grinnaux, and then Charibert kicks our asses 4 times, mainly because this SCH just... kept forgetting when he had Cleric Stance on and when he didn't, and seemed to have no idea when to AoE heal and when to single-target heal, and horribly misused both Eos and Selene. I tried to give suggestions of skill combinations to use, but I'm not sure how much was really taken to heart and how much was taken as a personal attack. I don't think I even saw him use Eye for an Eye once, and only used Virus when I said to... once.
The most frustrating thing in this game is having your life in the hands of someone else who isn't very good at their job, and not being able to do anything about it. I did everything I could to help as a BLM, short of abandoning DPS entirely and spamming Physick on the tank. I used up both Manaward and Manawall when I could, used Eye for an Eye on the tank, threw out Virus when I saw the SCH wasn't going to. I should have used Apocatastasis on the tank but I didn't realise how many of Charibert's attacks were magical. I even started spamming X-Potions on myself.
And yet, none of that could make up for poor healing.
I know complaining about inadequate healing being the cause of wipes in the Vault is like complaining about the inability to breathe being the cause of drowning, but still.
Applies for so many trials >.< been running Garuda EX cause my bf wants the mount, I keep saying to him i'm happy to do it, it's whether the people we get into the trial with can do it... So many people attack the spiny even when it's marked with "ignore" (i'm guessing it's usually accidental AoE damage but I stop any AoE at that point unless the spiny feather is on like the other side of the area, bf even puts his garuda away just in case...) and it's been said multiple times in chat to not attack spiny until Garuda jumps up... sigh.
they can but they believe that since they are so powerfuly geared that is a joke and they dont need to pay attention to détails/mechanics and what not. Want a better exemple, ? cristal tower-Labyrinth 1 boss...sooooo many death in there because people do not take away skeletons...is just unbelievable.
So let's just say that after today's run of Wiping Shit, especially as a healer, I can fully understand people who just leave after they get their loot. I don't remember any occasions when I sincerely wished my entire team, and some members of other alliances, would just die in a fire before, but now I do and I have.
Because apparently the word "left" is some strange and new foreign language, as is the phrase "don't move and don't attack".
For once, I sure wish I could be the one getting carried and causing problems for everyone else, instead of constantly getting shat on for people dying when they let their bombs go off, or stand in 2-3 Megiddo Flames at once, or don't stand in green pools, or DROP METEORS TO THE RIGHT. TWICE.
I can't even be happy about getting my healer boots. If the other healer had gotten those boots, I would've just jumped off the edge and never looked back.
And as for healers who think they're being helpful by ressing people from other alliances when the healers in that alliance are alive and well, you are not. You are not being helpful by making me waste my MP and Swiftcast cooldown, you are not being helpful by teleporting people to the wrong spot and confusing them when they revive. And you are most definitely not being helpful by being condescending shitheads about it, and acting like I should lick your bloody boots for your "help".
This reminds me of a run where the DPS thought that ignore #1 mark means the 1st target to die, therefore spiny always the first one to die up until all the DPS couldnt handle the frustration and left one by one with only tanks and healers+ 1 BLM stayed on the fight.. We almost cleared that fight but somehow we can't manage to kill spiny fast enough so we wiped with garuda at 5% or so.. Despite the healer told them not to kill spiny, they didn't seem to understand and just repeat the whole process..
[QUOTE=Mysterysword;3829228] v[QUOTE]
I am not going to defend those but understand that there are people that do mix up left and right as well as...the *DO NOT MOVE* is something that I personally had to translate as * when the pyramid appears stop doing anything until pyramid is gone* why ? because I do not see if I am being targeted, it just doesnt appear or not always, and if I see it is too late,as it happens with a delay....so yeah..there are people out there that have real problems and technical problems. I have less patience with people that complain about being hit by a bubble when it would have been easy for them to just step aside for a second....
For me, it's the other way round. I shrug it off when people have Garuda out fulltime, which, given for trash Contagion is not even worth using cause things just melt away (or should), I see as such a waste.
Yes I know, a Bane on a group buffed with Raging and Contagion is awesome, but will they last so long really? They will be dead while your buff is still up anyways. I have Ifrit out most of the time and let me tell you, that shield he gives just gives such a nice counter addition. Imagine a group of 6+ enemies hitting on the tank, Radiant Shield up and all those lovely counters... plus his autoattacks I see much superior to Garuda's Wind Blade.
I really even only use Garuda when there's a boss who moves a lot around, or it's such a long fight that I want to make most of Raging Strikes thanks to Contagion.
So yeah, Garuda/contagion for me is purely situational. For fast meltdowns Ifrit clearly is the winner.
Got Pharos Sirius on my ninja.
A White Mage is the healer. Before the tank even pulls the first mobs he casts Regen on the tank.
And then on himself.
And then on both DPS.
And then Medica II.
So the tank can't do large pulls, so he is just pulling 1 group at a time.
WHM doesn't appear to be doing any DPS, except for beginning to cast Holy on the zombie spawns before they even appear, missing them every time. Just casting holy at nothing.
So, I thought "Well, at least I won't have to worry about dying!". Right?
Wrong.
First boss, it seems the WHM is only using Regen and Stoneskin over and over.
So first I die. Then second DPS dies.
Tank remains at about 10% HP for the rest of the fight and almost dies, but healer remains at almost full HP. It looked like he was just spam healing himself and Regen everyone else.
This continues for the entire dungeon.
At the final boss, I get the debuff which, unless HP is brought to max, causes confusion.
The healer casts no healing spells on me at all. Right before I became confused, I used Second Wind to regen my own HP and dispell it.
Then it happens again. Still, no healing. Second wind is on cooldown. I use a potion, but it doesn't bring me to full. Get confused right after using Trick Attack. What a waste...
Did a trial roulette last night with a few friends and got Moggle Mog. We wiped the first pull because someone killed the king. No big deal, right? Mistakes happen. Well, not for the BLM in our group. This was the conversation between her and the monk in our party:
[2:03](BLM) Hey, dips--- who attacked King Mog
[2:03](BLM) Don't do that.
[2:04](MNK) calm your a-- down it was an accident
-Moogles are dead, waiting for Moggle Mog to spawn.-
[2:06](BLM) Now this time, _don't_ attack the boss. Even if it's an 'accident'. Pay attention.
[2:06](MNK) My aoe attack hit him
[2:06](MNK) it was one wipe
[2:06](MNK) dont get triggered
[2:07](BLM) Be a better player.
[2:07](MNK) if you got somewhere to be
[2:07](BLM) Or, in more succint terms
[2:07](BLM) Git gud.
[2:07](MNK) then you shouldnt queue for s---
[2:07](BLM) I don't have somewhere to be. Doesn't mean I should tolerate dumb mistakes from scrubs.
[2:08](MNK) LOL it was one wipe and this b---- got butt hurt
[2:08](MNK) foh
[2:08](MNK) nobody else is crying but you
[2:08](MNK) relax
[2:08](MNK) or cry more if you want.
[2:08](BLM) No thanks, I'll go clear s--- on the first try, instead of wiping the team.
2:09](MNK) lmao ok
[2:09](MNK) gg
[2:09](MNK) Go cry to the next group
[2:09](MNK) sad a-- player
You know...this sounds exactly like my run of Hullbreaker HM, but mine was PLD, SMN and forgot what healer was. First group of raptor notice that they went down kind of slow...didn't pay no mind, cause like you, I was thinking they were new or upgrading gears. PLD pulled next pack and combine it with the cat, I proceed to take out the cat first cause that post more threat, then proceed to kill the dogs and notice that the dogs still had a lot of hp on them (almost full). Scroll through them and no DOTs on them maybe one or two with the insta DOT, and didn't see it being reapplied through out the whole fight, plus once or twice of that AOE (that light column move), at that point I figured SMN was on cruise control. Afterward, I just left cause I'd rather take the 30 minutes penalty and watch something on TV, then having to carry someone who's just there for tomes and don't find your time important.
Gotta wonder if our summoner was the same person :x I've literally never seen a summoner do that, at the very least even the worst ones I've seen have put DoTs up on one mob and Bane'd to the others. But this one was just like.... man, when I was telling the story to an FC mate afterward, he said it almost sounded like she bought the char or had someone else level it for her. Idk how someone goes 60 levels and just ignores 70% of a classes' toolkit like that, it's baffling.
Eh, I see your point. For me, I like Contagion on regular mobs because for larger pulls where my DoTs wear off faster or I need to reapply Bane a time or two more before everything is dead, it helps to have one mob focused for Contagion and then just Bane off of them to the remaining stragglers. And Garuda's still got about as much AoE utility as Ifrit for me - I've just gotten used to a playstyle with her over Ifrit. But I usually don't mind much when someone takes out Ifrit rather than Garuda - I only start really raising eyebrows if someone has Titan out in a four-man.. >>;
Leveling roulette. The Sunken Temple of Quarn.
Cast: me as DRK, one AST, one NIN, one MCH.
Long story short, no bees were harmed in this run. ALL of them died using final sting. And AST generated more enmity by healing than two DDs by doing their work. That is pulling all the trash in vicinity, standing in AoE and throwing knives from afar.
Environmentally-aware adventurers. /salute

This is pretty much how I imagine tanks and healers in D/F at this point;

Today I got Aetherochemical with me on SCH, a PLD, a BRD, and a BLM. The bard played Foe's. I was spreading dots on every pull. It was a fantastic, smooth run - about 22 min. The PLD ran right out so I got to comm that bard. Hope he got the other dps comm too!
I just had Titan Extreme run as a DRK.. At one point on the last phase, everybody except me, SCH, and BRD fell off and we actually 3 manning Titan Extreme. I need to put grit off to free SCH from gaol and sacrificing the bard for like 2 times during that repeating process, then we hit Titan's enrage with 13k upheavel from the center.
http://imgur.com/t8dN35O.jpg
After a few tries later, the godly scholar fell off from upheavel and the other healer died from the superbomb with titan's hp <10%.. I popped walking dead at that point and with no healer, we actually cleared titan with me being dead the right moment after we killed Titan.

This fight feels so glorious..
Tried to do a levelling roulette on my PLD, with my niece as my WHM. We're both 55, but we get Dzamael Darkhold. With a 60 SMN and a 46 MNK.
MNK is using Fist of Wind instead of Fire, but...okay. I can kinda see why. The SMN is using Bio, Bio 2, and Ruin. Her Ifrit is running after the floating eyeball boss when he's not a boss. When she remembers to use Bane, I'm fairly certain she's spreading Bio only.
First boss. The floaty eyeball one. With the crystals. It took 4 crystal clusters to kill him. Why? Because the MNK is killing the adds instead of the boss. One. At. A. Time. The SMN was....I don't know what she was doing. Ruin. I think that was it.
I opted to eat a penalty.
(We also discovered that the MNK was wearing her 45 job hat, pants, the black summer halter (NOT a glamour), a level 9 ring, a level 11 earring, and a level 39 DoM ring. Oh, and her weapon.)
Come on now. Whatever other issues there may be, don't criticize the killing of adds because you know there are times that the adds try to eat the healers when they get ignored. ;-)
Seriously though, killing adds shouldn't be a bad thing unless there's a specific need to keep them alive. It's a good thing to handle adds because I see more disasters when adds get ingored than when they get killed.
Currently doing the "Toughening Up" quest for my bard anima.
Snowcloak: Multiple wipes to trash because the tank decided to do huge pulls that the healer obviously couldn't handle.
Sastasha HM: Astro kept precasting diurnal sect Aspected Benefic on us before every pull, ninja used no mudras, and the tank didn't use Unleash on multiple mobs or Power Slash on bosses which caused me to rip hate on stuff and die.
Qarn HM: went super smooth. Really great group kinda wish they could have stayed with me for the whole questline ;;
Keeper: Some dicey pulls but we did okay. Tank died cause he was out of LoS. I died in the middy fight cause I repelling shot out of the safety bubble >.>
Wanderers HM: Healer did not fully heal myself and the other bard when we got hit with doom. We both obviously died :l
Amdapor HM: Tank rage quit at the first pull cause he died. Three manned it until my boyfriend came in right as we were about to kill Ferdiad. I appreciate him coming in though <3
That was all I cared to do for today cause dps queues kinda suck.
So I recently got a new video card and decided I'd try my hand at recording this game. Downloaded Open Broadcasting Software and decided to test it out with a Final Steps of Faith run.
I queued in as Bard, and I ended up getting an in-progress run. The result? FREAKING AMAZING in every possible way. Not only did the quality completely surpass my expectations (view fullscreen, you see EVERYTHING), but I end up in a party where I'm actually useful - with all the other DPS being black mages.

Go to fullscreen so you can read the chat. Also please ignore my creepy chuckling at the start, I wasn't aware it would pick up my microphone. That's what test videos are for I guess.
I left the run with four comms. >_>
Just now.
I'm a level 50 Paladin.
Still new to the game still. Been playing for under a month. So even tho I am a decent enough tank, I am still a little self-conscious about my skills in it. So before I sign up for any of the 40+ stuff in the main story missions that I am at, I like to first run a couple short lower level groups. Just for some warm up practice before going into a zone that I have never been in before.
I sign up for Halatali. Easy, short. be out of there in 15 minutes or less.
Group starts and the healer had not cast Protect yet, so I do so. (the reason I mention this will come later)
After killing that first small group at the start, I run down the ramp and grab the next group of 3. While tanking, I keep my eye over to the right to watch for the flame bomb with wanderlust to roam his way over. And while I am watching, I see the Lancer DPS run over and body pulls the group of 3 on the other side of the room, along with the 2 roaming flame bombs. I quickly grab everything no problem. I laugh to myself a little thinking he did not mean to do that. I thought maybe he was trying to grab the fire bomb. Maybe he thought he could solo it in case it blew up, it would do so away from the group and not in the middle of the mob fight. So he just got a little too close and grabbed more then he meant to.
After we kill this large group, I lead the way through the big door into the next room. I wait for one of the bombs to get close and pull it back. I used up a lot of my power on that big group, so I plan to use Riot Blade a few times on this thing to get some MP back before pulling the next group.........Lancer runs and pulls them over...alright, he is doing this on purpose.
After I'm sure I got aggro on everything, I quickly say in chat "stop"
Thinking that one word of mine, should pretty much be the end of the conversation. --I'm tanking, I just let it be known that that's not the way I want to run this. Done.-- I let it go. I'm not even annoyed with him. ..and then he says "then dont cast protect"
http://www.themarysue.com/wp-content...y-what-GIF.gif
Did Protect get revamped and it now means that if that buff is on the group is untouchable? Does it give me an endless amount of MP so I don't drain it all to make sure I'm holding aggro on ten mobs at a time?
I wait tell we finish that fight. Say "you can tank...." and leave the group.
I don't no need anything from finishing that zone. So I'm not gaining anything in there from finishing it, and now I don't want to help him gain anything either.
30 minute ban for abandoning groups ..so figured Id post about it while waiting lol
Currently doing the "Toughening Up" quest on warrior - which is kinda thrilling because I never tanked most of the level 50 dungeons in this quest before :D And, you know, tanking kinda scares me. In leveling dungeons it's fun, but in level 50 and level 60 dungeons, people expect huge pulls for speedruns, and I'm always afraid of not being able to handle these.
But now I picked up this quest - not only because Ukonvasara looks awesome as shit and has better stats than the Parashu I'm currently wielding, I also wanted to git gud and get rid of my fear of speedruns and just try them.
Snowcloak: I pull the first group, want to Flash it and run to the next one - but a while before, I removed Flash in favour of Chakra to solo some content, so Flash is inavailable O.O We kill the pulled group, I explain the situation, we laugh about it, I crossclass Flash again and we move on. Positioning is freaking annoying at the second boss, but I handle it easily enough. Throughout the dungeon, the big pulls work, I keep aggro, AST keeps me alive, BLMs melt everything fast.
Sastasha: After Snowcloak went so well, I'm more confident regarding big pulls - unfortunately I have a bard in this party who goes full ham on the first group while I run to the second one, and eventually loose aggro to him. I get it back fast and decide to be more cautious about this bard ^^ After the second boss and the two trash mobs after it, I wanna pull two groups and accidentally pull everything else too - chaos occurs, but we make it thanks to like every CD I have and WHM's Benediction \o/
Qarn: I start with pulling everything and for a short moment, I loose aggro on one mob but get it back fast - that's pretty much how the rest of the dungeon goes too, except two wipes at the cactuar boss because DPS kill every add except the one that protects the boss.
I'm yet to do the remaining dungeons, and what I write here is nothing spectacular, but these three dungeons gave me much more confidence in my tanking skills and made me way more relaxed about speedruns, and I kinda felt like sharing it :3
Got on late last night and wanted to see how many roulettes I could do before falling asleep. The 60 went well, but the trial..
Got Titan HM. I was hit by the first landslide, which I found odd, but thought that I maybe paused to finish a cast for too long. I then tried to cleanse a debuff off someone.. didn't go, so well, maybe I miss targeted.. Then the party got a bit damaged, so I tried to drop cleric stance.. and tried.. and tried.. 5 press+pauses later, still had cleric.. But then got selected for gaol, so, remaining in cleric it was. I never actually saw the gaol graphic on my character, then died to an aoe soon after I was freed.. accepted the res right away, but the res buff never actually went away. :(
..3 minutes later, my connection stops acting up, I see a "can't perform that action right now" message, and the other healer resses me again. Damn lag making me look like a trainwreck. .___. We didn't wipe at least, but I decided not to try my luck with any other roulettes..
Leveling roulette, Hatalali.
Was leveling Archer, my party had a Ninja, Conjurer and Marauder.
Tank was a sprout who knew nothing about tanking and / or had severe difficulties doing their job. Didn't respond most of the time when we were trying to give them tips because they were on PS4 without keyboard. Took us almost 45 minutes to clear the dungeon and I felt sorry for our healer who always died first. Gave him my recommendation and vowed to never do leveling roulette on a Sunday afternoon again, to avoid the children and casual new players.
Or maybe I shouldn't play the game at all when the temperatures outside are killing me. Living directly under the roof doesn't help my patience, especially not during the hot summer months.
Let him die. That's the most surefire way to get your point across to people doing this. If the dps wants to grab a huge group of mobs you had no intention of grabbing at that moment a death or two should hopefully cure him of that itch. That being said, if the healer doesn't get the memo and then cures the dps, thus grabbing all those mobs you SHOULD take care of that player.
Also, there's no point to pulling large groups in low level dungeons: most dps don't have useful AOE abilities at that point, meaning that a large group is just making the tank and healer work harder for no real benefit. If anything dps is going to drop because the healer can't jump into cleric stance and help out.
Probably not the best way to handle things. It makes you look like the jerk here. As I said above, let him die. It usually solves this problem. If it doesn't, kick the player. Those low level dungeons are where people learn how to play their jobs. It's unrealistic to expect expert tanking and healing in a level 20 dungeon, which is what that lancer was realistically expecting of your party.Quote:
I wait tell we finish that fight. Say "you can tank...." and leave the group.
I don't no need anything from finishing that zone. So I'm not gaining anything in there from finishing it, and now I don't want to help him gain anything either.
A few days ago I did Expert roulette, I ran as an AST in Sohr Khai. So far so good, but the first boss was kinda messy. Tank had to adjust his spot, understandable. The 2 BLMs standing near the tank, not moving with Vuln+2, not understandable. The BLMs die to cleave, and I'm raising while I'm face palming. Course of the run, apparently the tank (sounds like he had a parser on) was a bit upset with one of the BLM's DPS. (He had really high gear though) A bit of an argument, moved on. Later the tank brought it up again, but this time he questions if the BLM did the lvl 50+ quests. I ask in seriousness if it's that bad as he says it is. He then says I was beating him in almost all the pulls. Even the other BLM agreed with the tank. Later I started paying attention the BLM in question. Turns out they were right, I was apparently beating him in DPS AND enmity.
Like........ How?
And AST, with a perma-reduced enmity buff, was beating a BLM in DPS and hate. You'd have to be really lazy or doing something awfully wrong for that to even happen.
This happens more often than people care to admit. Some BLMs don't care to learn their 60 rotation, so they use the 50 one because it's easier. I even partied with one who said he only played BLM when he didn't want to have to think and that's why he wasn't doing his 50+ quests.
No, you're right. You are absolutely right. I was just so frustrated with the SMN not doing anything, then to see the boss isn't dying because of the adds instead... I mean, considering the gear the MNK was wearing, we'd probably have shaved a whole 1.3 minutes off the fight anyway.
My only regret is not recasting Protect again before I left. lol It would not have done anything else, I just think it would have been funny for him to see the shield go around him again right before I took off.
"you can tank...."
cast Protect.
Gone.
I'm new here, but I played EverQuest 2 for a few years. Also as a Paladin. The only time I ever did big pulls in a group/raid is when the healer specifically told me it was okay.
And in that group, even tho the healer was more then keeping up well, (I kept at an eye on her MP, and she was good. Had plenty to spare.) But the dps was slow burning. With the amount of time it took to kill that large group, would have been the same had we gotten them one group at a time.
It was kinda jerky of me to take off like that. (I did not know kicking people was an option) But explaining the above ^ or just letting him die, and then having to answer him when he asked why I did not use Flash....it just would have added 10 minutes onto that low level 15 minute dungeon.
So at the cost of me look negative...maybe he will be less likely to pull that kinda thing in another group. Because the next tank might leave as well.
Weeping City. My party's tank derps at Ozma, running away from it at the start of the cube phase and thus getting a stack of vulnerability up. At the same time he gets lasered while he is also taking orbs - and the healers don't even try to heal him, so he obviously dies. This leads to a couple other events which eventually wipe our party, but the other two manage to kill Ozma. Tank complains about not getting healed, the AST starts insulting him about how many thing he's doing wrong and doesn't stop before the battle with Calofisteri is over. So, during the fight the AST gets hit by practically everything because you can't dodge while typing, he dies four times, the WHM more or less soloheals our party.
Some people ;_;
