Yeah.. just think that the Hildibrand, Deep Dungeon is the only new content we're getting until like what, May...?
also, poor Viera.

And it was the only big piece of content in Shadowbringers not counting the usual staple raids. Even then it was heavily nerfed from the content updates compared to Eureka. With only 2 zones within the entirety of post-ShB's patch cycle and progression being relatively faster.
Now that content did came with 3 new raids in total so its something but considering what we've been getting in post-EW so far; revamped PvP jobs + new PvP mode, Adventure Plates, Island Sanctuary, Variant/Criterion, Tataru, 2 Ultimates etc
Whats actually the issue here is some of this new content thats being featured are currently investments. Investments of new content that will be expanded further in the future. Which isnt going to be a thing that people will want to accept currently as we're seeing right now, but itll be something that I feel will be much bigger than what it is.
Oh almost forgot them implementing trusts in old dungeons and revamping old duties to better streamline the game for beginners. So yeah so far post-EW is doing a heck lot more with its resources than what Shadowbringers had.
You can blame Blizzard for that energy ... WoW has, until recently, been decidedly a single player game with endgame raids and non-mandatory dungeons.
Lots of single player content: King of the Auction House, Master Crafter, What's My Glamour, Gathering for Geeks, I Defeated Illidan (By Myself), etc. Not to forget Kill All the LowLevel Mobs for Reputation and Gotta Collect 'Em All.
Anyone who plays any modern (circa 2004 or later) MMORPG expecting to hold hands with their brothers and sisters throughout the gameplay is going to be sadly disappointed.
Sorry I should have made my point clearer I’m not removing it from the content pool I just said outside of that unique piece of content Endwalker has more variety in content types. I wasn’t trying to make a narrative it’s just usually if we go by patches giving the usual trial, dungeon etc concept then each patch from Endwalker has done something far more whether that’s the pvp rework and new mode, island sanctuary and the variant criterion dungeons. Not questioning their longevity. Just saw outside of the normal expectations Endwalker has done more ‘risks’ as of the moment.
Those are lousy examples, Variant dungeons are DOA content (dead on arrival), PVP is not even supported enough to filter out cheaters, AP is pure vanity, 2 ultimates is standard from SB not a notable feature of EW, and would hardly call island sanctuary reflective of the core content. Which so far EW has nothing new and regressed, cutting back
Yeah but even with the amount of effort WoW has taken to provide single-player engagement, it still includes coop capability in everything. It's really exceptional with the amount of effort WoW has put in to make sure that no matter what you're doing, you can always invite a friend to join you.
That's just not even the case in FFXIV - You'd imagine that they'd AT LEAST allow you to Duty Support coop, or farm some rocks in Island Sanctuary together. But nope. It's all or nothing.
I don't get why so many lie on these forums. For content that's apparently DOA everyone I know n their mother has done or is doing it. I've played pvp HEAVY since the revamp (you know the one that came with EW) as has my fc and have never seen or heard of others encountering cheating. Not saying it doesn't exist, I'm saying it's not as widespread as you make it seem. 2 Ultimates is standard from SB...yet ShB didn't have it so that means we did indeed get more as we have 2 in EW. That is the fact of the matter. IS is entirely new content as well. Some love it some hate it.
So to say EW has nothing new is a complete and utter lie. Dislike what you want as is your right but lets stop the bs to try n make a point.
You still doing Variant?

I get you're trying to clown on me but I play games for fun. I like going in there and testing various classes. Crazy concept ik.
And if you read before commenting I said has done or is doing, not just is doing. DOA content is content no one is touching on release not content everyone is doing.
Also Tom's it's not a technicality, it's what it is. Don't matter what your opinion is in that front
That's fine I'm not really trying to be a jerk - It was mostly funny so sorry if it came off that way. But just because you haven't done the content yet doesn't mean the community is still doing it. That's like saying you still have POTD to do. You can do POTD. But it's still considered dead content in 2023.

My description of the first 14 years of WoW just went way over your head, didn't it.
Party sync did not exist until one of the late patches in the Battle for Azeroth expansion, 14+ years after the game was initially released. Before that, you could level with others in pretty much the same way you do in this game. Grab a high-level friend (optional), grab a quest, perform a quest, turn it in. It was designed so that anyone could perform the quest as a single-player. No extra effort involved.
You think I can do anything on Dynamis? I CAN'T queue here. I have to DC hop to even have a chance at a queue popping for any content. I also just moved from Gilgamesh, you think POTD was popping there? lol
Here, I DC hopped to show you how alive Variant is.

It only needs 4 people from the whole DC to click that button. 4! They don't even need to be a specific class order! And it's all dungeons in 1 instance! You literally can't get more queue poppy than that as far as content goes!
I'd have a better chance at queueing for Nier, a 24-man, with a class requirement.
It's not a race of time since conception, what do you expect me to do - Wait another decade for FFXIV to finally catch up to 2023's basic gameplay standards so I can finally coop with friends?
Do all MMO's get the luxury of starting from the hypothetical year 2003?
Also no, in what world do you actually do world quests with friends in XIV? You mean Leves? From Heavensward? Or do you mean the purple glowy 'danger' that spawns 2 creatures for you, that you can sometimes get once every 10 hours in MSQ.
Or don't tell me you actually do the yellow quests.. The rewards are less than the cost of the teleport it took to get there. And good luck trying to sell any trash it gives you.
It's literally just more text dialog fluff for an already over-fluffed game. lol

WoW is in a completely different universe when it comes to questing, and especially coop. It's why we meme that it's an RPG MMO and tried to make up a different medal to give to XIV. Because it's clearly not even in that competition.
Having earned the Loremaster title for both Horde and Alliance side before Cataclysm, and again after it got split up into zone-based titles, if you believe 'questing' is completely different, you're living in an entirely different universe.
And yes, I do all of the quests in FFXIV. It's simple enough while leveling 19 jobs, with little to no downside.
....ooooooh. You're talking about the so-called "World Quests" in WoW. The replacement for the blue "Daily Quests" when Legion came out?!? The ones that you can finish in 20 minutes without help? Soooooo much RPG!
If you desire actual Roleplay in game, you're in the wrong data center in this game.
What are you even talking about, what does the datacenter have anything to do with content itself? I still DC hop. Also who's talking about old shit? Cataclysm was 13 years ago. lol
I'm talking about literally just any quest in the WoW world. World content as a whole.
Are you just another old WoWhead that quit 8 years ago, and now your hateful aggression for WoW feeds your aggressive love for XIV?
I've been able to coop absolutely everything in WoW from BfA+ and get this. It was fun. It was the most engaging and fun I've had in an MMO within the past 4 years. I was able to immediately play with multiple friends and explore a world. It actually felt like an RPG. I would almost say it does a better job of being an RPG MMO than XIV.
I've been playing XIV since 1.0, and I have no problem praising another game for doing something right. XIV does not do questing and world coop justice. It's just a fact. Nobody is out here praising FATE grinds and Yellow Quests.
You have to be delusional to think they're even remotely comparable these days.
XIV can be bad at stuff, and it's okay to admit that.
(Also yes, I did try some old WoW content, it was horrible. So I wouldn't suggest playing anything before BfA tbh)
LMAO where did that come from?
Also a bunch of people literally DC hop to Crystal for RP, Aether for actual content. Dude even Crystal has (albeit not as big as Dynamis) slower queue times compared to Aether when it comes to content at times. Crystal's PF def has suffered a bit as a result (didn't Aether have a meme of putting "no travelers" in their parties for a bit?). Tell me, would you rather queue on Crystal or Dynamis? And why do I have a feeling you're going to say "Crystal" because the DF/PF there on Dynamis dead as hell lol
It's a riff on the fact that RPG has two meanings. The original meaning is found when speaking about TTRPGs => Table-top Role-Playing Games. I've been playing those for nearly 50 years now. The second meaning is found in the use of RPG when you are talking about video games. Then there is the combination, usually termed 'RP' (role-playing) in this game, where you play your concept out within the confines of the actual game. I assume you don't engage in 'RP' if that went over your head.
No, I'm another old "WoWhead" (what the heck does that even mean, except as a label for hate??) that quit 5 years ago, after playing both FFXIV and WoW concurrently for 4 years. No hateful aggression intended. I just don't believe that WoW deserves praise for finally (after 14 years) incorporating a Player Sync in game. That feature came out over 15 years ago in other MMOs. Oh yeah, did I mention that I've played any number of MMORPGs concurrently over the last 15 years?Quote:

Hurray for you. I stopped having "fun" in WoW during BfA. Individual tastes and whatnot.Quote:

As in all things, your attitude is subjective, and does not have to be widely praised by anyone playing any other game.Quote:

My own thoughts do not have to be shared by you. At all. After all, if you're having fun in WoW, and I'm having fun in FFXIV, what does it matter that we don't consider the other game to be all that fun or innovative or whatnot.
You're just babbling at this point. The 'RPG MMO' term is a meme that was coined during Shadowbringers and has been parroted as the main difference between XIV and other MMOs to date. It went way over your head apparently. I play PnP RPGs, and I don't ERP. That discussion just doesn't fit here and you're being weird for trying to embed them into the conversation.
Also great, you're mad that WoW didn't have a feature until recently, and I'm enjoying it in the present. Meanwhile XIV doesn't have that feature at all. I don't see why I'm not allowed to be upset at that, let alone the fact that the world itself is dull and has no reason to do any quest, or coop for 95% of the game.
I don't care that you're having fun in XIV. Nobody's telling you not to. I'm having fun in XIV, WoW, other games in general. This isn't WoW good XIV bad. It's understanding that some things are suffering and lack love from CBU:III.
Just stop engaging in conversation with me, because that's what I'm gonna do with you now. lol
I got lost in elf town, they kept me captive and it made me want to the burn the damn tree down myself. Some old ass ghost told me to eat ass then glitched me in a cave. Then I found some big ass floating city, only to find out there's more than 1 of the same big ass floating city that look identical, and didn't know which big ass floating city I was supposed to be in. So I hopped on some random ass bird and ended up a million miles away. 1-shot some random dude on accident, he came back and started talking shit in gibberish. So I 1-shot him again. Then some old dude told me I needed to save the universe or something, and I ended up in Diablo 3.
Was a fun day. Would do again. 10/10.
"This game isn't in maint"
Yes it is
Why would they put effort in? They know the community is zealous enough to keep playing while they divert all resources to 16 which aside from combat i feel like is gunna flop aswell. People will buy anything they make in ffxiv look at mog station and all the undyable garbage.
I am getting tired trying to be remotely reasonable rather than doom and looming like a lot of people are round here. So because we don't have a new zone to spam fates for a currency drop people think its in maintenance mode...a lot of the doom and gloom stems from the relic being mishandled this step. There are other factors as well but lets not kid ourselves in that this was the main sticking point amongst the very vocal minority (that all this forum is...a vocal minority)
A game in maintenance mode wouldn't of had to stop sales, wouldn't of expanded servers and data centers (which they are doing more this summer for NA/EU) they wouldn't invest in making the new player experience much smoother (ultimately making it more accessible to new people who are unsure of dipping their toes into an MMO) they wouldn't of expanded the free trial because if it was in maintenance mode what would be the point. Why update the visuals at all if its going to have the plug pulled at some point...why make an expansion if its in maintenance....there are so many questions that sort of break the logic a little bit.
But once again this goes to resource allocation....say I have 10 units to put into the game and 2 units were dedicated to the relic and its open zone...if I sat there and was like man after Endwalker we really picked up a ton of new players but a lot don't like the base game or its still too uninviting shall we take a unit from this and put it to this (example reworking dungeons, boss mechanics, duty support, trials made into solo duties and redesigned, prae and castrum rework) and maybe that will make that experience slightly better which would get us more players and revenue. You would do that even if you pissed off some of the vets...because once again not every patch caters to everyone. It sucks I know and I want more things to do and to commit more time to it but if they are utilising their FINITE resources in foundational changes and redoing things to allow more people to play the game I love so be it...but guess what and this I will put my hand up if I'm wrong in a years time...once duty support is done....one they are happy with their reworks of dungeons etc...those resources go back into other things.
I view Endwalker and its patches as them re-doing a lot of core systems in the game (PvP, Crafting/Collectibles, QoL in UI etc etc) but I get frustrations of players but sometimes cause they are so angry that focus in on things rather then step back and view a bigger picture.
