This is lazy approach to trying to compare the communities. Let's look at more everyday approach new players wanting to tank, you enter a Max level dungeon as a new tank in WoW you are more likely to be kicked and replaced than in final fantasy because you won't know the optimal route or the optimal way to pull trash on the way to the boss and it'll be considered wasting others time. Let's compare LFR to alliance in LFR if you wipe generally 60% of that group is gone no one sticks around. It WoW bad yea, don't s*** on your community for multiple expansions and be called good, is everything bad no raids are still generally good and fun, it is better in PvP but it really doesn't take care of that community at all. But as far as community the games aren't even close

Tell that to everyone who leaves. It's more feasible in the short term to leave. And that's what people are going to do. Which is bad in the long term. DC travel is great, but it's really causing some issues community wise. The server identity is dead. I know the architecture maybe can't support it, but outside of incentives to stay, these servers are going to stay dead.

Now, what they should've done is make 3 servers and add them to the existing data centers. That would have been a better allocation of resources than what they did do. And what kind of crap show will it be when they add 4 more?

I'm speaking in the now as someone who has been on Dynamis since the beginning. It hasn't really gotten better, and most people are still leaving. I started doing Eureka, and I refuse to play in empty instances with bots. Dynamis be damned.

So what should we do? Pay the same for a lesser experience? Or go anywhere else to have a better one?

I'm not trying to be mean, but this pie in the sky, everything will be better with 7.0 shtick is getting old. What happens when it's not better? What happens when Dynamis stays dead?

This company is a joke. The community is selfish, but that's not a new thing. They just hide behind the passive-aggressive wall they've built around themselves.

They should just mix up the datacenters again. Move a few of the larger ones to Dynamis that would help it out.

That is actually a smart idea, could do it in like 7.0 shuffle some of the servers and who is in each dc. Idk if they could do that cuz of coding and all but it would change things up

If you don't want to be there then don't. If you do then do. Instead of trying to shuffle around Dyna, why not just transfer out if you're unhappy and leave those who stay to be happy?

It really bothers me tbh that since it's not on the exact same level as their original DC that some people just want to burn Dyna to the ground and screw over everyone else who is fine with how it is.

The people who are still there *want* to be there and I haven't had any issues getting queues lately. If it's not good enough for you then don't stay, easiest solution in my opinion. We have plenty of faces who have been there since Day 1 and don't plan to leave.

The reality is every DC is bleeding people to Aether and this is just the consequences of giving data centers identities and wanting convenience over creating a healthy DC balance. This is the new situation and we kinda got to deal with it. Nuking Dyna to the ground won't stop that from happening.

I'm not unhappy with dynamis I just wish it had a better population other than 1-2hr wait for alliance raids or pretty much never get a pvp pop. Also shuffling around DC servers would end bleeding over to Aether as it's population would be broken up and spread out (now I'm sure it would just hop to another server eventually but it would be a short term fix). Honestly my honest opinion they should either axe DC travel or if you are DC travel for over X amount of hours a week you lose your house and are removed from your fc, if you are the fc leader it is disbanded but that's a bit too harsh for some people.

Nuke DC travel imo. Would make the game a lot healthier.

People want convenience and DC travel for queues instead of staying to help populate their own. It's unfortunate. In the present circumstances all you can really do is wait out the queue or go somewhere else for pvp/alliance raid and then come back for the rest.

I already stated few things WoW actually does better and actually in another post I did reference how I wish this games glamour worked more like WoW's transmog but I guess reading comprehension isn't a strong suit of yours or you just lie bout reading my post either or idc in the end.

I'm no more a clown than the exodus WoW players projectile vomiting rainbows all over XIV.

I keep seeing you make weird comparisons from XIV and WoW - The reason you don't see many kicks or disbands in XIV content like Alliance Raid is because we can carry half the party through the whole thing even day 1 release. You add SMN and RDM to the mix, and you're basically unstoppable. Stormblood kinda turned us into carebears in Normal content. I've had plenty of Alliance Raids where people were straight up AFK or doing 1% DPS. But it doesn't matter, because you can drag all of their corpses along with ease.

Release day of Euphrosyne, my party specifically died collectively 40 times. But it's fine, because I was RDM machine-gunning rez.

But that would put us back at the same problem SE was trying to at least partially solve by adding data center travel: allowing friends to play with friends.

I wouldn't suggest nuking data center travel but I would suggest restricting it. If a world reaches X number of players currently online, disable world visit and data center travel to that world except for players using the Return to Home World function. Players who last logged out from that would still be able to log in on it even if not their home world (in case they had been doing content with friends after travel was disabled but were dc'd).

But do allow travel off that world to other worlds that are not restricted. If there's a group of friends that are half on Aether and half on Dynamis, they would still be able to meet on Dynamis to play. If they finished what they wanted to do, the Aether players could still use Return to Home World to return.

We know that travel can be disabled to/from specific worlds if needed but not if the system is sophisticated enough to say "you can come in because it's your home world but the next person can't because it's not theirs". It would be nice if it is.

I think they mean servers. Not DCs. Servers in NA are all in the same location so it wouldn't matter. People would just move back to Aether though, a la when crystal was created.

couldn't be sure. i used to live basically beside the one that -was- in quebec but they moved it to LA/cali or whatever for some reason because everyone knows how cheap keeping shit cold in LA is. i assumed it was a reference to that.

The server is still dead, btw. Just figured I'd update the thread. Dead FCs with half the members on other datacenters(Aether, let's be real). Crazy long prime time queue hours. I did a tank in need expert, and it took me 45 mins, and I gave up. I don't even know if it was even going to pop. Silent FCs and Silent Discords. About the only thing worth a damn is the Hunts. Ffs just let me access my stuff across another server or bolt us to Aether. That's all we are is Aether overflow parking. We all know it. Cross DC queing is a pipedream as I await our mythical Xbox/7.0 players who might google first and not pick the bad server with the long queue times.

Sorry, I had to rant about it. Felt nostalgic for my old FC, so I came back to a worse off Maduin and a 90-day no transfer penalty. I did this to myself. Let me complain about it, lol.

Yea SE made a big mistake on opening a DC last year with about 2 years left before the expansion. The DC should have opened next summer a few months before the 7.0. Kind of sad about it because I have a couple of characters on there.

I suspect their goal was to have a functioning data center with room to grow before the Xbox beta started. It might have worked if data center travel didn't draw all players to a single data center.

This is just one of the cases where I look at the game and I can't help but think about how they created the problems with the very infrastructure the game is based around.

Who actually thought that separating people through the servers/DCs was a good idea? Like I get that you might want separate servers/instances so the game itself doesn't crash or get overloaded, but surely they could have done that in a manner that didn't eventually lead to all of these issues?

I know that the majority of the players on this game are overly fond of their tiny, cliquish communities that they've formed from the time when you couldn't even travel between servers that were in the same DC, but part of playing a big game is being able to play with as many people as possible and having as many options for interactions as possible. I feel as if much of the body count restricted content on this game wouldn't be an issue if everyone from every server on every DC could interact and group.

And now we're full circle with people asking for the removal of DC travel as if that's going to actually help when it's clearly too late to go back. They need to finish what they've started by adding DC travel across every region, and by creating a cross DC DF and PF.

maybe but it was way way to early to open up the DC. Last time they did a server swap with the dcs people paid to go back their respective DCs. they should have just added on servers between the three existing ones imo.

It is a good thing - for players that are looking to join communities where people take the time to get to know one another.

Players that don't care who they play with and just want a fast content clear for loot are going to want to gravitate to where the most players are.

Personally I miss the days of players being restricted to a single world. Communities formed and players got to know one another. Friendly rivalries formed. Helping one another helped the community as a whole because of that interdependence on one another.

Now there's no reason to care about other players. Random player struggling in a group? Might as well kick and hope the next random stranger to join does a better job so you can get out of their faster. Not like you're going to see either player again when there are tens of thousands to fill the queues. There's little need to socialize as a result.

That depends on when they originally planned to start the beta. If they thought it was going to be over this past summer, opening Dynamis in November would have been about the right timing. It takes a bit of time for things to build up.

Sounds incredibly fake to me. If you had this much build up within the tiny communities on each server, how come everything fell apart?

Wouldn't you rather have people able to be genuine rather being in a situation where they're either forced to tolerate each other, buy a server transfer, or outright quit the game? Plus it's not like those small communities were all that great. In many ways they created echo chambers, and harmful cliques that picked who they felt like allowing into the main community and who they didn't (which still happens, I've been kicked on sight from the Marilith NN for leaving certain other communities). I doubt issues such as stalking and harassment were non-existent back then either. Imagine being trapped on a single server with your stalker.

The old lady on the walker had me rolling. But I agree with you. It's easy to say "Hey I'm going to fix everything!" When the reality is people will only do the bare minimum. It's why we're here. Why would I try to establish on Dynamis when I can just DC travel and play on Aether? Morons all of them. Every developer that didn't see it and every player who denies it.

Agreed for the most part, I don't think world travel is a problem at all, but server communities are definitely an important part of the health of any MMO. Those saying otherwise are almost always socially inept cave trolls and/or zoomers that think every game should function like a Fortnite lobby.

I think the server communities are still doing alright for the most part but DC travel is really having an negative impact. Relating to the thread topic, Dynamis never had a chance to build its community in the first place because of DC travel. The longer the issue persists the worse it's going to get.

To each their own, I suppose. I very much doubt many share this opinion considering it's what led to several worlds basically becoming ghost towns due to players congregating. There's a reason Gilgamesh has the reputation it does. If you wanted to raid in Heavensward, you went there or basically didn't. Same with Balmung and roleplay. Speaking only for myself, I'd essentially have to choose between raiding and my friend dynamic without world and DC travel. Which, on the whole, would make the game far less appealing to play.

The future is cross DC duty finder/party finder. It has to be. If your server doesn't matter then what you do won't be limited. The current mess we have is because you can just leave. And it won't be fixed until leaving isn't about getting better queues or raiding. Once it's all unified we all can be.

Ideally, yes. It's debatable if their infrastructure will ever allow for region DF/PF. Either way, we won't likely see that until 8.0 at the earliest.
