But they already know they hate 2.0, so there's no reason to stick around.

I almost wish they would go back to the style of animation and graphics they had in FFIX. I prefer the super deformed characters to the realistic looking ones since i grew up playing the earlier FF games. dont know if that would be good for an MMO but i would really like them to make FFXV in that style. just wanted to put out that realism and superb graphics arent necessarily a "tradition" in SE's development process. FFI - FFVI were prided on their storytelling and innovative gameplay and battle system. That is what the FF series means to me. you want realistic graphics, thats the Gran Tourismo series.
Then they should stop realistic cut scenes (cs) then, there is a huge disconnect when the CS is one way and the game is another. Obviously I know you cant have the exact same details as one is live motion and the other is prerecorded - but dont create a disconnect.
I would have to agree. i hate when the cut scene is uber awesome lookin that does not act like it ever could in the game and then you go back to gameplay. I have a huge respect for games like MGS and AC that have a continuity in their gameplay graphics and carry that into their storyline development screens.
MMOs are a different beast in that nature, unless of course we go the single player route of an mmorpg, which would be kinda weird xD.
I just wish people would stop voicing their concerns in a chicken little-ish manner.
The sky is falling with every clip we're shown and news we hear.
I understand people have the right to voice their opinion as loudly as they want, but others also have the right to point out how absurd the complaining gets from time to time.
Indeed, but voicing their opinion that they don't want to hear others opinions on a forum designed for opinons is the most absurd of any ideas going on here. I like hearing about making FFXIV more like WoW then hearing that (and I dont like WoW >.>).
(Voicing and flaming an opinion are different - of course)
And people have the right to complain about complaints about complaining. And so on into infinity.
I don't think anyone ever said that the game was doomed to failure because of the grass (there was actually like two legitimate threads in that mess, the rest where hooking onto a cheap gag.), the animation, or the fact that it's currently structured around the atypical standard. Some of us are just disappointed in what we're seeing and people think we hate the game for it. Just because people like Rokien point possible out issues a lot doesn't mean they hope for the games failure, or even expect it. They want square to realize the problems and tend to them to be sure the game is not only a success, but a truly stellar game in terms of quality, presentation, and originality.
I agree, to an extent. But there is a difference between being genuinely concerned about a system and bashing on a system simply because you personally don't think it's best.
For example:
Certain people who will not be named want the Stamina Bar back. That's fine. They're entitled to their desire for whatever they want. But then they go on to say how the current system is lacking, or poor, or sucks simply because it isn't the stamina system they want.
People are injecting horribly biased opinions into their suggestions and "concerns" that distort the issue they are trying to present.
Understandable and I'm with you on wanting this game to be incredible in terms of graphics and animations. I'm just saying when you have a situation like this where the op insists on saying the game has made no progress when the producer himself has already come out on the issue and admited that it was old footage, I'm going to call them out on overreacting.
The fact that the animations are in a downgraded state is a legitimate concern, but there are ways to voice concern without over exaggerating like some people are doing.
But we didn't know it was old footage 2 days ago...
Those that initially seen it and spread word around that the quality seems to not be improving every time they show off ARR :p This is the "damage has been done" scenario. SE is going to have to go through damage control soon, no more media events (of large importance at least) so everything from here on out has to be near perfection in the sense they're showing only current assets.
Well tbh, there are Youtube Comments that did have some excitement ( of course mixed in with the screw SE this game is going to fail trolls, also mixed in with the f2p? attitude.) Really its always the same thing each Trailer , its nothing new really.. probably didn't take notice of it.
No, not it's not at all lol. The new TP system is basically the same as the current TP system with a few minor adjustments. Currently TP is based on delay, so after a given time if two classes with different weapons have their delay match up they should have the same TP if they're just auto-attacking. Rates are changed with use of throwing weapons, TP abilities and missing. The new system just evens out everyone's TP generation rate and no longer penalizes you for missing.
We do that already.... It's how MMOrpgs work. If you don't like hitting buttons waiting till you can do your more powerful moves then you should go play single player games and leave MMO's be.... Because seriously we already do that to an extent, so how is it different?
Also (not in the right topic but I did want to say this. /sarcasm "OH NOEZ THE MMO DOESN'T HAVE ALL THESE FEATURES AT LAUNCH. THEY WILL COME AFTER LAUNCH! IT WILL FAILZ!!!" /sarcasmoff. Alright man another thing that you miss about the aspects of MMO's even wow does it with expansions, they release the start of an expansion/vanilla and then over the next year or two they release all the info to finish everything. It is called extending gameplay, because if they gave us everything at launch or at the beginning in any mmo the hardcores would be done in a week or month of all content and complaining about needing new content and new expansions. They never release everything at launch because you just lose MORE players that way because they have nothing to look forward to in the future because everything has been done. That is why I think most "Korean MMO's" fail because they put everything in at release and its done in a month or two, leading to the phrase, "flavor of the month". Because they are all used up and make another one with exact same game play different story because they never expand upon the lore. It is what it is at release that thats what you get, thats why more successful (yes even low pop mmo's and now ftp) ones are still going because they stagger content to keep us paying and interested. If you haven't figured this out yet, just stop wasting your money on mmo's and get a single player game where you get all content and beat it in a week or so like it was intended so you can go buy a new game and give the companies even more money per month.
I obviously didn't read the entire 11 pages of this thread, but I do notice a more "stylized" look to the graphics from what we seen so far. It's in no way a bad thing, as it's only a matter of taste. But I prefer the more muted color pallet of what we have now. Still going to play 2.0 though.
Except properly geared melee classes can out-damage BLM. You're using a poor example, as a PLD tank can hold enmity off of BLM's spike damage.
I have harder time holding hate against Monks than I do Black Mages, and that's where the problem with your theory comes in.
If a well geared MNK or well played DRG decides to spam skills like you said, not only are they throwing some efficiency out the window by not combo'ing, they are also likely to pull too much hate and end everyone's fun.
Don't get me wrong, I respect the power of the BLM. But I also respect the potential of MNK and DRG, which you seem not to.
This may be out of topic but its not really what I've seen from the footages. TPs are being generated over time, not by your actions anymore. Perhaps it'll be a combination of both but it seems to be more like the energy system in wow or lol now. That said, its pretty much the same as stamina.
not really there since if you're engaged in battle you won't regen. They explained it's like MP if you're locked in battle it won't come back so you can use it all up in a matter of seconds if you don't use it wisely. Just the same with mp if you have your weapon out.
ah I see then. From what i gathered from their explaination it would be like mp it only regens when you're out of ready. Thanks ^_^
I can already see if they do that that it may become annoying to play as whm especally when having to cast buffs the weapon for a whm and blm is really just for show but *shrug* if they do that we'll have to adapt
It is likely to regain during active mode, but looks like we're back to needing your staff out before you can cast cure or buffs on yourself.
I'm a bit skeptical of the new look, too, but I will reserve judgement until I see my own character moving around in there. The midlander thy chose looks really creepy, but it could just be a poorly made character.
This right here.
Just because you can make something new and original doesn't mean that it will be received well by your playerbase. Look at many of the changes happening for ARR. They are changing it to conform more for current MMO standards than true originality, because that's what many players are comfortable with.
Well at least by the UI/ Server standards yes, but this is an FF game, that has the most awesome~ist Storylines created, Chocobos, Airships, Moogles All that nice stuff, That stuff is not copied which is awesome ^.^. Other games like wow and ( other copies of that nature) have the same "simularish" story with quests.
This is why I love FF because it always has been original.
Ya, lets add all that stuff, that doesn't make a final fantasy, final fantasy, sure it helps, but no. This game is lacking identity, why do you think its trying to get things from other FF and other mmo. They have no direction in this game.
When I think of Final Fantasy, I think of comradery, that's what FFXI did well in.
Those are very superficial qualities, at the end of the day. There's nothing really original about "story", for example, and sometimes such things work against the concept of a MMO (i.e., putting single-player game features into a massively multiplayer game is somewhat contradictory). Besides, FFXIV: ARR is a self-confessed WoW clone evr since Yoshi said he used it as a standard and will basically copy it feature-for-feature and then be original at some later date, when it suits him. Therefore, FFXIV is kind of as unoriginal as it gets in terms of structure, superficialities notwithstanding.
