The problem with current housing is some people make themselves illusions about some kind of show off "look how I'm rich" or keep a slot locked to deceive other players.
I'm not talking about people who actually use the houses but for all those who buy a plot and... that's all. No gardening, no workshop since it is for individual, no interiors creation... just a plot locked for nothing.
Adding wards or a tax will never solve this kind of problem. Delete the show off effect with upgradable apartments or instancied house and the data storage related to the wards problem will disappear by itself. Make housing a way that only players who really have use of it invest time and gils in it. That's why I really don't get SE's logic about neighborood or RMTs.
Instancied, shared with alts and one per world (let's says two : FC and individual) and solution done : no RMT problem, no data storage wasted. SE can't have a better control with this kind of approach.
This game needs way more wards!

You have no right to tell people what they can or can't do with their house. If they abide by housing demolition rules then they get to keep their house, if they don't, they lose it, thats as simple as it should ever be. Some people use their house to craft in, some people use a house simply to have a summoning bell on hand. If someone has bought a house, they are entitled to do whatever they want with it, just because you weren't lucky enough doesn't mean that you have any more right to that plot than they do.Quote:

Where you totally get me wrong is if you imagine some kind of jealousy. I'm interested in Wildstar housing, something really creative, I don't care about show off. What is interesting in housing are collections and the possibility to make the housing evolving. This really is the part they have never considered in housing offer. The current dormitory districts are just plain boring. And to think they are wasting money and servers ressources for that is just disappointing.
Since ARR I hope and expect something better, they are able to do so much better and for everyone. -

The problem is that there is not enough houses to meet demand, not that some players are "greedy". If I purchase an item, it is mine to do what I want with it, housing already has restrictions, and a player will lose their house if they don't use it. If a player is indeed doing what you say then they have wasted millions of gil, and need to maintain the greed to circumvent the housing timer, in which case they must be invested in the house, albeit not in the way that you want.Quote:

The timer is just a lesser evil quick fix from SE.
And to see that when Wildstar showed how they can do so much more and for everyone is somehow heartbreaking.When I go on hiatus from the game, it is mainly because when I'm done with the tomes farm until the next expac, there's nothing nice to do with housing (too rigid, too little) and levelling is fast boring. -

It's nowhere near as big a problem as it used to be. If you see a player like that, report them. Otherwise you are judging a player on a percieved assumption of wrongdoing.Quote:

There is a path in the Lavender Beds that leads "somewhere" which is inaccessible and is gated off. I don't know, maybe they are planning more wards in the future, or maybe that's just for clutter. I wouldn't put that there though, it's a big unnecessary tease.
