It makes zero sense lorewise. BLM use black magic but they dont use necromancy. They use elemental black magic. Also, theres literally no drawback to them for using it due to the way their MP works.

Can't speak for others, but to me the issue is that they tied BLM to thaumaturges in the first place. Part of the 1.0 storyline involved thaumaturges basically saying "oh heavens no. raising the dead? necromancy? no we definitely don't know anything about that--what's that, Neillefresne? You want to talk to someone who's already dead via a totally not necromantic ritual? Sure! Let me get my gear and we'll have that corpse talking faster than you can say dead elezen". If I were to hazard a guess, the 1.0 THMs were probably going to branch into that school of magic at some point, which is alluded to between the constant (and unconvincing) denials and ongoing rumors at the time.
Granted, I don't really care whether BLM gets a version of Raise or not (I lean towards "not"), but I don't think it's something that can be easily waved off.
Rumours originated from the fact the precursor to the Thaumaturges and Alchemists guilds were involved in raising an undead legion to destroy Sil'Dih.
Wrote about this before, but Ul'Dah wiped Sil'Dih out using an udnead plague brought about by the Traders' Spurn. Which is why these two guilds hush the rumours (since Ul'Dah conveniently altered the history books) and have to be on the constant lookout (the very same undead plague could also wipe Ul'Dah if it's brought about again).
To make it worse, there are stashes of the thing still in Ul'Dah (some ARR quests deal with this).
This should be the gist of it, unless I missed some particular quest detail in 1.X...?
Another thing to think about is that if they somehow twist the BLM lore, which is specialty in destructive magic, just to give raise for the so-call utility balance, the dev team will have to fit reasons into the lore of any new mage jobs in the future to give them the same raising ability.
...adjust their burst dps as well – good luck with that... : /
oh really? Rdm with 4x raises in less than 10 secs and 7k (x2) insta heals is far enough out of balancing... we don't need another op DD with "endless" resses on a cls which can't get oom...
RDM raise will be adjusted if developers care about their high end raiding content and equal class distribution. And something tells me the have to. Forcing people to play rdm over other casters is not really a proper way to balance things.
Just check o3-4s clears on fflogs for example, there's almost no blm/smn there, rdm is the only caster presented by a huge margin.
Btw im reading japanese forums with some google translate and they have exactly the same concerns. It won't take longer than 4.1 i guess.
So less than 10 seconds is factually incorrect. it's going to be at least 19 seconds with minimal levels of spell speed, more than enough time for you and the poor unfortunate souls you raised to get nailed by a mechanic and die since you're so busy raising people. And I'll go ahead and make the point that, again, most RDMs are going to avoid using Vercure like the it's the devil in a serious raiding scene.
Verraise isn't going to be touched just to make BLM feel better, and maybe consider that there's more RDM parses because maybe people enjoy RDM more, or maybe not everybody uploads their parses to fflogs, I sincerely doubt that there's more than that simply because of Verraise.
I have a suggestion, can we stop overreacting to EVERYTHING? jeez we always make lookalike things are much bigger than what they really are
