That was actually a sarcastic remark made towards the mentor. He was a mentor but didn't want to mentor anybody. You'd have to read my early posts a few pages back. I was left with a choice between kicking him or the newbie (I called him out for not helping the tank, he said this wasn't his mentor roulette so I guess he implied it wasn't his problem. He immediately became a kick candidate). The other guy (he was with me) was already saying the same thing as well. Not very fair to us if we have to put the brakes on the dungeon run in order to break in the new guy, especially when we have a mentor in the group who should've been doing this to begin with. If Mr. Mentor hadn't have been there, things might have been different. But, it was what it was.
Secondly, it'd have taken a lot longer than just 2 minutes to train this guy. Most if not all that stuff I'd have to explain to him, not just 1 or 2. The guy looked like a solo quester (he had a little of everything, gear-wise, from all different levels) who was only there because he had to be, not because he wanted to be. Chances are he couldn't have cared less about the advice anyway or maybe even be annoyed by it (had that happen in Haukke Manor once, with a mentor that actually did try to help). A no-win situation at the time.
