I was so looking forward to become a mentor because I love helping people. Just the other day I did my second mentor roulette (I've been a mentor for a while but hadn't completed a couple of trials I needed to be granted access), and got A2. There was a newbie who clarified he was indeed new, and I let them know how pleasantly surprised I was to get A2 via Mentor Roulette. One person asks if such a thing exists (the Mentor Roulette), and another mentor confirms it does, but immediately proceeds to tell others it was pointless. And how the only good thing about it was that you could get a mount for running it 2000 times. I kept quiet while other people agreed. I finished the instance, thanked them for the party, and left :/ I didn't know what to say. A mentor saying the roulette is only good for the mount is just... sigh.

I'm not one to post in here often but well...here we go just had the worst Aetherchemical Research Facility.

First is Esochemical through 60 roulette (fitting name for the place) been running it all day to rush my relic I get a Drk, Whm, myself as a bard to break the tediousness of grinding as a tank and a Drg. Right off the bat Drk doesn't have Darkside I ask them nicely "Hey can you please put Darkside on?". Get ignored. Tell em again Drk says "shut up i'm tanking and using Unleash and i'm holding hate okay?". Woah okay then...I then notice that the tank has 12k hp look at his gear: Aiming, Healing, and 2 str accessories and 1 fending. Great! Ask him about his gear he replies with "I que'd with my friends they needed a quick insta que". So I can't vote kick him...wonderful I look at the healer throws a Regen and uses Medica II and spams Cure II he's always oom asking me for a ballad after every pull I'm doing the majority of the AoE because the Drg...Where do I even start with this guy I'm sorry if i'm being mean but they never used Blood of the Dragon or Heavy Thrust or Disembowel just their 1-2-3 combo. I ask the Drg "Please can you use Disembowel or something! tank chimes in "God you're needy aren't you?" The attitude in here is so bad the Drg just responds with a /laugh emote. First boss is dying SO slow I ripped hate in an instant, tanks yelling at me in party chat because he can't hold threat since he has just Grit no Darkside and no actual tanking accessories. We get through the first boss after 2 wipes (I had a lot of patience since it was right before reset) we get to the part with the nodes and the adds I tell the Whm can you please DPS, use Holy responds with "lol I can barely keep the tank up I can't DPS" ugh make it end already! Get to the second boss and I use quelling strikes, get my DPS going and the healer lets the tank die: que raging at friends, healer spamming heals on the group spamming Medica II demanding Mage's Ballad or i'll get kicked, we wiped because I was tanking the boss, healer didn't have Swiftcast and never bothered to rez the tank. I ended up leaving since we were in there for almost 45 minutes I couldn't take it I took the penalty and just went to bed i'll just get the esoterics tomorrow.

The worst part of this whole thing though was the Dragoon was a mentor....I just can't even fathom that he never AoE'd, never used his toolkit how do these people get into dungeons and think it's okay? Worst part is they all had 220-240 gear so they have done the expert dungeons.

Just, just wow. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I just can't with people. Just now did a Weeping City run with my fc friend, and we had a healer who barley healed me, and when we were at ozma wouldn't eat the orbs. I asked if they could help out and they said they did so basically lying to us. I just can't with people.

Is today the day of crappy DRKs with crappy gear or something?!?! Did I miss some sort of memo about this?!?! Like what is going on?!?! And it annoys me to no end when DRKs won't use Darkside. Especially at level 60. You lose access to some of your most important skills, and your most potent combo (DA + Souleater). Like, why?! WHY WOULD YOU PURPOSELY HURT YOURSELF BY NOT USING YOUR SKILLS?!?!!?

As for the healer, I have a strict policy when it comes to my songs. If you are spamming DPS skills, or unnecessary healing skills (like it sounds like this WHM was doing), I will not play for you just so you can waste more mana. I will not hurt my DPS to feed your bad habits. It's one thing if you have to spam heals because there's a lot of incoming damage. It's another if you're just spamming regens and medica II.

And with mentors, the amount of good mentors I've encountered in this game is not nearly as many as I should be encountering. :/ Pretty sure most mentors just want the shinies that come with mentor status, and no actually help people.

FATE grinding. 3 healers in party. Die during FATE. No rez.

All 3 of you are fired.

I wanted to try my hand at tanking and had the urge to finally, after many years, give it a shot. I was terrified of queuing through Duty Finder alone (thank you, thread) and asked in FC chat if anyone would mind tagging along with me through Sashtasha. I quickly got both DPS and a healer (none of whom I really knew) and was good to go! I was nervous since they were kind of "strangers" and this was foreign territory for me.

What followed was the most comfortable and natural run I've ever had. Tanking wasn't anywhere near as horrifying as I thought, and I quickly picked up a "second nature" relationship with it. I learned to switch targets for emnity, when to pop cooldowns, and how to position. I only lost a single mob, and even then, it was quickly retrieved. They were all so patient when I had some blank moments, and no one ran ahead even when I paused to get my thoughts together. It was wonderful!

Here's to hoping my luck continues on my quest to becoming a Paladin! :D

I have so many Wiping Shitty stories, I don't even know where to start. But my latest run featured, among other things (with me as BLM):

- Me: Wait, why am I tanking Forgall? -face gets bashed in, dies-
- Wiping to Forgall, and I'm literally the last person left alive, before the adds chew me up.
- When Calofisteri died, I was the only person in my alliance left standing. Everyone else wiped, another alliance picked up one of our healers, who used LB3, and then everyone else died again somehow.

Walked out of there with 4 comms, as a BLM. The whole run was so ridiculous, I can't stop laughing somehow.

Been running Weeping City to try to get the last item in my caster set.
Run it over 10 times since Tuesday and it only dropped once, and another caster got it.

The main problem is that some tanks seem to be aiming for gear that drops for the first two bosses. The last 4 times I've run it, the a tank leaves right after the first or 2nd boss.
We had to had to do the 2nd boss minus a tank because none would come.

I wish there was some kind of extra penalty for people who leave within 5 minutes of a boss being defeated. Like abandoning your group immediately just because you didn't get what you want should count toward your once a week gear drop. Or something...I don't know...

Had a similar incident in Weeping City. My entire team died in Ozma with just me (WHM) left alive with two Singularity Fragments on me.
I would have used LB3, but one of the DPS decided to use it right before he died.

Some of my team members started returning to the entrance, but thankfully the other alliances mananged to pull it off before more meteors dropped.

When I run it with my FC friends, we always tell our alliance to save the lb3 for the healers until Ozma is at about 5%. Then a DPS can use it. It helps so much when we actually have it, and has saved our alliance several times. Like last night when I ran, we had to use it because my co-healer wasn't helping with the orbs, and I can't eat all of them. The tank can't because they're also getting lasered. And I believe we got tornadoed so it was only me and our tank left standing. I raised the co-healer to try and get help with the raises, and they used the lb3 as soon as it was available.

And then sometimes you get DPS who take it too far in the opposite direction, and never ever use LB even when everyone is perfectly healthy and competent at dodging mechanics. Or they start channeling it when the boss has 0.5% HP left. Although it does make for some great cinematic shots, like the time I got to use Meteor on Calofisteri, just as she died. The arena lit up in a nice, blinding blaze of hellfire, and then abruptly faded to black. xD

But yeah, thanks to Wiping Shitty, I finally know what all 3 of the healer LB3s look like and what they're called. The AST one is especially pretty, I find.

In my last run, the DPS (Dragoon) used limit break on trash before Forgal (or whatever it's name is).

And our tank (Alliance C) kept taking Alliance A's mob and ignoring ours, resulting in the deaths of some DPS. We were telling him in party chat and using gestures (in case he didn't understand Japanese or English) to come to us.

Finally, after our wipe on the 2nd boss, he understood.

On mobile and it won't let me quote for some reason. -_-

@Mysterysword - we haven't ran into that issues with DPS not using it, and it's really only on Ozma that we ask them to save it just because for some reason people always seem to derp super hard there. I'll be honest, when I'm running on my bard, the minute LB3 pops (and it's not Ozma), I use it. I'm just like YEAH BARD LB3 GOOOO X3

@FinaSel - Was the LB used on trash before the boss room? If they did, I can kind of see why since the lb resets every boss so it would have been wasted anyways. And yeah, we had a WAR that wanted to MT all of the trash pulls during the first half of the raid. But he did do a good job because I pulled hate from him on my WHM while enjoying my Stone III spam and almost died to a crocodile D:

Found another fun BLM rotation! Thunder II - Fire III - Firespam - Transpose - Blizzard III - Fire III. Seen in Antitower... after the first boss, I asked this so-called BLM if they have unlocked the level 50+ skills as they never used any of them.
BLM: "Yes."
Me: "Use them PLEASE!"
BLM: "Ok."
BLM: -continues with their weird "rotation"-
WAR: "Use Enochian, then Fire III, then Fire IV twice"
BLM: "I don't understand, I'm German"
Me: -writes down the basic rotation in German-
BLM: -never reacts-

WAR is a main BLM like me, we both cried :( We had six frog phases during the first boss, five meteor phases during the second one and three sets of dollhouse during the last one. Worst thing was, someone asked in a linkshell a healer for Antitower in progress and this party I joined was the wrong one ;_;

Had my daily ARF via 60 Roulette (which I like since I get both the roulette eso and the dungeon eso, with the potential newbie bonus), running as WHM. The PLD tank mass pulled the first pack, and proceeded to only pop Fight or Flight.
Through out the entire dungeon, the ONLY cooldown he popped was Fight or Flight. Not once did this tank use any kind of defensive cooldown. No Rampart, no Sentinel, hell, not even a Sheltron. I couldn't do any DPS, because the guy also took hits like a wet paper towel, which sucked even more because we had an awesome BRD who had Foes up constantly for myself and the BLM.

Hell Wind occurs so naturally the main tank drops dead immediately (seriously guys Stoneskin or Aldo the MT) and suddenly I'm like crap I'm tanking Forgall as a Monk, I re position him facing away from the raid, I shout to my healing buddy over skype what's happening and he pumps heals into me to keep me alive (and I throw in a Bloodbath and Mantra as good measure) for about 2 minutes until another tank just decides to take him off me.

That's why I don't run Antitower or any other Esotoric Dungeon/Lore Dungeon (Except ARF) in Duty Finder, the amount of People doing something wrong is horrible high lately.
It takes just 1 Tank / 2 BLM {1 SMN / 1 BLM alternative} / 1 SCH Setup not to see a second Frog Transformation due of the heavy Burst right in the beginning, speaking of the Boss can be brought down about 30-40% HP before even transforming two People into Frogs.

Isn't it somehow funny? I mean ... I'm German myself and I can speak / write English (Problem being my accent only, sounding horrible), yet... People not being able to understand? I feel you...

I think it is time not to DPS when Tanks decide to pull the first two Trash Groups right before the Garlean Group... It ends up as usual, either the Tank drops to 1-2k HP or can't hold Aggro, meanwhile entering Cleric Stance is a thing where you basically decide if the Tank should die or not...

Oh, trust me. They were causing me physical pain as well. I main BRD and DRK so anytime I see DRKs like the ones that plagued the duty finder yesterday.... I just couldn't with one. I was like "Please, please, PLEASE re-evaluate your gear before you do any more dungeons!"

This is gonna be shocking, but I ran the Vault with a friend because it was his first time through (he hasn't been on in like a year or so), and I was healer, he was blackmage. Everyone was nice, understanding and waited for me to actually explain stuff to him! Shocker I know but it exists. Oh joyus day. Funny part was I kept telling him to stop running into the damn horses on Zerg. He made some snide comments at me and I just told him "Dead" :P

Pretty sure Hell Wind goes straight through Stoneskin/Galvanize/Nocturnal Sect Aspected Benefic and Helios. The only way to get through it is mass AoE healing, nothing else.

It does, but I think it does not remove shields? Hell Wind never kills anyone, it just sets everyone's HP to some single-digit number. The autoattack that follows is what kills the tank. That's what you have to prevent - either with shields or with fast healing.

Tbh, the easiest way to deal with Hell Wind while MTing is to pop your big cooldown (Hallowed Ground/Living Dead/Holmgang). I just find it easier to save my own life than rely on someone else... especially someone I don't know.

Yeah, it goes through. But the best thing to do is to instant heal the tank (with Benediction / Lustrates / Tetra / Essential Dignity) right after the hit. There's no other incoming AoE damage in a while so the rest of the party can wait a bit until the tank is safe again.

It goes straight through Hallowed Ground too. It's like Singularity said, it brings everyone down to a 1 digit HP, but doesn't kill anyone with that particular skill. It's the autoattack that follows that kills tanks if they are not carefull. So, as a Paladin, i always use Hallowed Ground at the last possible second (with a calculated margin for the animation to finish and actually applying the invincibility buff) so that the boss doesn't kill me with the auto attack that follows. Immediatly after Hell Wind, i would use Clemency on boths healers, healing myself in the process.

I don't really play a Warrior or Dark Knight, but as far as i can tell, a warrior could use Holmgang right before Hell Wind goes off and the Dark Knight could use Living Dead. That way they should survive the next auto attack as well.

Oh, I know exactly what it does, although not sure if the damage it does is based on your max or current HP. Think it would be the latter, though.

That said, I wouldn't pop Holmgang as WAR, especially since Brand of the Fallen comes right after Hell Wind, and if you're not in stacking position, well. I've never found it necessary for a tank to pop their invincibility skill, though; usually the healers spamming AoE heals are enough to let the tank live before the auto-attack.

Also, a PLD could just as easily pop Divine Veil instead of Hallowed Ground. All you really need to is survive one hit, and if the healers are worth their salt, they're already precasting their AoE heals when Hell Wind is casting.

Divine Veil only puts a shield on party members, not the PLD itself.

I like to tell people that that whole fight is like a Mario Party Minigame gone to the extreme.

I usually heal WC with my static's whm, we definitely know what we're doing, but we both groan when the tank of our alliance is the one tanking Forgall... no matter how quick we are with our instant heals, more often than not he auto-attacks the exact same time as Hell Wind's damage goes out so they instantly drop dead. Not even a half second where their hp were in the single digit-- they just die. It's incredibly frustrating as a healer and makes me doubt my worth and level of skill, but sometimes it's just the game itself.

It's not a bad idea to hallowed/holmgang/living dead for Hell Wind, you may not NEED to use it but you don't really need it anywhere else anyways, and it ensures you'll live through it no matter what (maybe your healers suck, or they're lagging, or server ticks are against you). I guess the only problem is if the dps is bad enough that you see a second Hell Wind. Or a third.

The first time I fell off during Ozma since release, and the reason? My dying mouse died for real, said mouse disconnecting made Windows disconnect my controller while I was in-motion, and thus ran off the edge right at the beginning of Ozma like some kind of suicidal cartoon character.

I wish that were the only thing that happened that run. Let's just say I basically hardcasted Ascend for the entire duration of Calofisteri. In the times I was alive myself, naturally, because at some point you just get hit by stuff, and I got hit by stuff and slight lag. Joy of joys.
During Forgall one of the DPS goes "not even a single heal wtf heals". Yeah, if the other Alliance's tank hadn't found it funny to tank the one thingy with a cleave and a massive tailswipe in a way it cleaved everyone and thus interrupted my spells, you'd have lived. Alas.

All of that for? Nothing. The drop I want yet eludes me, and I learned that nobody'll thank you for hardcast rezzing everyone a bajillion times AND lb3'ing.

Seriously, why don't people ASK if the alliance is cool with the MT turning Calofisteri so no one gets hit, it throws me and my 10 fps off so bad.
All I got for show is a migraine and a dead mouse after like 6 years of loyal service for being one €5 "oh hell my old mouse just died" purchase. R I P.

So just did the Anti-Tower. Is this the week of horrible players or what? I swear. This player had in his search info to use auto translate because he doesn't understand other languages well, which is fine and my friends and tried for him. Problems arose for my friend in real and me messaging people who I was keeping in contact with irl. I was tanking so when I stopped the party had to stop which i feel bad for so I try to rush things along to make up for the fact of them waiting. He kept saying in his native tongue to Go. I asked him to use auto translate because I can't understand what he is meaning even though I figured it meant go. He admitted as such and thought he was using auto translate and apologized. We had to have these brief moments of stopping because like i said something was going on irl for my friend and we were getting concerned for her. We finally reach the boss, we have been burning through everything really well and I haven't been losing hate to him so I think i'm doing a great job tanking. At the last boss before we open the coffer, he just told my other friend who was a bard, and me to give up on tanking and barding then left before we could say anything. Like what. the. hell. Should also mention he had on VIT melded into his accessories and was not doing Alexander Savage for I did not see a single savage gear on him. Sooooo yeaa. I'm not having a fun week.

For me I've had many impatient people this week. Someone needs to brb for a minute (One time it was me, as a healer) and the rest proceed anyways. The one time for me when I returned, they were already fighting a mob and the Tank was just about to die.

During my adventure to gear up my monk with proto-midas gear, I found a wild Selli in a8n! I got to pet the Selli a few times, she was very nice, very fluffy and soft. I unfortunately forgot to take pictures.

And in that run my roll of 97 on a shaft was beaten by a 99. Oh well.

I just feel like, this week, the DF runs I've been in have been terrible. Actually, the only good run was when I got story Garuda for one of my leveling roulettes (wow, hadn't been in there in forever) and the other three were all brand-new sprouts. Yeah they had difficulties it being their first time, but we didn't wipe (though the tank accidentally let Garuda cleave the party and I died since I was squish WHM XD). I did my best to explain mechanics, and they ACTUALLY FOLLOWED THEM (hiding behind the stone pillars, killing the feathers ASAP, etc.). I mean, I was so proud of those three sprouts. Wish I could have given them all comms.

It's stuff like this that makes me think Forgall is "meant" to be shared amongst the 3 tanks, so basically having all 3 of them ensure that they're at the top 3 spots for aggro. That way, when one dies, Forgall automatically turns to the next in line. Of course, when you consider that there's no way to compare your own aggro level against someone in another alliance's, the whole thing falls apart.

Honestly, for all that I keep calling it Wiping Shitty, I actually love the raid and I think its complexity is a huge step in the right direction. But flawed mechanics like these, and especially Ozma's hugely flawed mechanics which can mess up anyone no matter how well they perform them, makes me think it really needed more beta testing.

Just to clarify, I'm not saying that any of Ozma's mechanics, by themselves, are too complicated. They're not. But when they're thrown together at you in a mess, it becomes almost impossible to deal with it. For example, the meteors encourage people to run out, drop them, then stack up and shield/heal, but at the exact same time, if Ozma happens to be in pyramid form, you also have to deal with the bleeding debuff, which spreads to other players if you're standing too close to them. For another, Assimilation can hit you if you happen to be in midair while Ozmashade is casting it, and completely unable to turn around.

Weeping City strikes again. I swear this is like the worst week of FFXIV ever for me. Que for WC with a friend, cause we are trying to get two specific things that are not dropping, and we get a new player who is a SCH. We get to the first boss and I ask if they can wait so I can explain the fight to the new person. Ignored. Boss is pulled an I have to explain the fight in the middle of the fight. Oh joy is joy. So I ask them could they possibly wait till I'm done explaining to the new person. One of them comments why not explain everything right now so we don't have to wait. I replied with oh sure explain the entire raid now, and hope up to each boss they retain that information which would be a lot, instead of explaining boss by boss to make it easier on them and make sure we don't have a wipe each run. So we get to the second boss, and they pull again without waiting. My friend kept hitting no on the Rcheck because we were trying to explain stuff to the healer, especially on Forgell. Someone from a different alliance said to kick my friend from the party. I'm like >_>. Then they asked me what does it matter to me if they know the fight or not, why didn't they watch the video. I replied with that the excuse watch a video before you que is old and overused. Not everyone wants to watch the vids or they learn better by doing then watching, like me I learn better by doing then watching but I still watch the vids to get a sense of what to do, but not everyone is the same. Then I replied with "I'm a mentor, i would kinda like to do my job, which is to mentor people." after that silence but my friend's and my mood were just destroyed. we were not happy this entire dang run. I'm just......why is this week turning out to be such a horrible week. The sad thing is there were only a few people in each alliance willing to try to help the new person. I'm just like "i wish i could comm you all nice people"
