Well yes and no... I would still love to see this type of content in the open world, however, more like the post I just made with open world/public quests/events, would feel more like it.

I'm not trying to be nasty here, but I honestly don't see the purpose of creating duplicate content like that... especially if the only difference is instanced vs open world.
Actually it wouldn't even be open world per-se seeing as how only your group can attack the mobs. So it would almost identical to raids.
yeah, i think you get what i meant... grind+npc+boss doesn't necessarily = dungeon
wolfie,
It was just a suggestion to take the typical grinding on one mob to the next lvl and offer a reward and a boss and maybe a cut scene, i wouldn't call it a dungeon (especially since i was thinking open world but i guess they could be in a cave, idc). we all know how sensitive people can get when using words like "dungeon" or "raid" so ill refer to it as a "grind fest" for now. All aspects of leveling are the same, you kill mobs get sp call it what you want.
i think hes saying anyone could attack the mobs, but that they would be spawned by initiating the quest, the point of most open world quests is that everyone can participate.
So basically it would be like 100 raptors pop over the area, 3 or 4 groups kill the stuff, all involved get bonus sp, and some currency/fame/items or something.
kind of like a really large behest, but open to all, with a sp reward and no time limit.
its not a horrible idea, but how good it is will depend largely on how well its implemented.
or, maybe he does mean one group only
I'm not really sensitive to the names and whatever. I understand that you want group content with an objective and some minor rewards, as opposed to just mindless grinding. Just not sure if adding more duplicate content and giving it a different name is the right answer.
And I just realized... isn't behest practically what you're asking for? They have fixes for that on the to-do list too.
exactly, it was a thought off the top of my head which is better then most of the stuff SE has come up with in the past 3 years(or however long they've been knowing on this game) im not saying its flawless and instead would like for anyone who wants to point out the flaws and give their suggestion to improve upon it.
I really dont think you get it, grinding endless numbers of mobs has always been part of mmos. IM only suggesting adding grind locations with decent sp and adding a little something to it to make it more interesting. behest are limited to 8 people per 30 min spawn a small number of low lvl mobs. Anytime you have quest that involve gaining sp by killing mobs its duplicating content. I would love to elaborate but i really feel as though you are reading this with blinders on.
also you said its the same as a dungeon now its the same as a behest does that mean that dungeon and behest are actually the same. Like i said all content has similarities its whats different about them that makes them unique.
I feel like we're arguing something we both agree on here.
They said multiple times that they want to fix behest to make it so that 8 people don't shut out the dozens of others that are trying to get in. Maybe behest will be the "group leves" and grind spots you want.
not more sp, decent as in not a waste of my time. Grind party's are formed all the time why not take the opportunity to turn it into something interesting.
a balanced sp per hour system
also to the your still grinding part
I know its still a grind, im not saying to make this the main aspect of the game but to be a part of the game for people who enjoy just grinding on mobs to do.
its not balanced to the rest of the game, the game should have a balanced per hour sp gain plus +or- for skill play. 30k an hour is decent sp but its not in balance with the rest of the game. As long as the game is unbalanced people will exploit the weak spots rendering other aspects of the game pointless.
Interessting Letter.
I'am glad that leves will not be the main content of the game any longer. I mean who of you wants to do "dunes folks for dinner" over and over again, from level 30+ all the way up to level 50 ?
I have always missed the odl school way of exping in a small group in the free world. I hope they will focus on this aspect of the game from now on.
Personal i dont want the game to be more "casual", but i can understand that it is neccessary to make it casual, in a way that also nonMMORPG experienced players find an easy way into the game. As long as there is enough challening content i have 0 problems with "casualisation".
What i would love to see personaly, are though, free roaming NMs that are
I: Hard to find. (not next to the road [like Ureus e.g.]
II: Hard to kill. (not like the 4-5 "BigOnes" atm)
III: Highly rewarding.
If SE prefers to add hard NMs as "forced spawns" where you need some trigger items to spawn em should be fine with me too. Still, i would love to see NMs free roaming in the world, simply cause it feels more "real" to me when you have to search for them, compete with other Linkshells for them. Makes me believe they live out there for real.
Best of Luck to the DEV Team, i love final fantasy, please give me a reason to keep loving it !

Technically you CAN have leveling that requires skill. But that's going to turn away almost your entire customer base because nobody wants to put in effort while leveling.
Yoshi-p speak a lot on the japanese forum at this time o_O

Yea sorry making a suggestion that would encourage skillful pay instead of endless 1 mashing or after 1.18 well be able to run into battle and not hit any buttons. what the hell was i thinking. Im not talking about giving a 100% bonus for skillful play. 20% would be good and yes that would be in balance team a 30,000 an hour for spamming 1 team b +20% 36,000 that is balance
Wait, how is speed killing any more skillful than "button mashing"? The high EXP chain exp and merit parties in FFXI rarely involved any significant skill; items, merits, and job composition were the deciding factors.
your right its not about skill, that's the problem, and it should be. that's my point. The reason things are killed so fast is because of the 10sp lvl cap(no point in killing tough mobs) but im not gonna get into that right now. Id rather grind and really have to pay attention to the fight then sit there and spam one and hit random WS.
I think it would be fun if we had gauntlet type things to do in parties. Swarms of mobs attacking your party all at once and having to get things defeated before reinforcements arrive. Maybe if they add the hamlet defenses they could be like this and give good exp for parties.
Edit: I also like the idea of not having to hold back on aoes and such. lol
i was also thinking if these released onto you in waves perhaps or even one at time, it would be cool to have something were each mob was a lvl higher then the last (taking away the 10lvl sp cap of course) and just see how long you last. there could be an achievement for time lasted and lvl reached. this doesn't fit in with my general original idea but would still be interesting. now ill have to listen to 100 people tell me why this is a bad idea.
