Does he really? Or are people so fed up with him for various and sundry reasons that they simply assume? Come in with pre-existent preconceptions of how a person is gonna be? That's the main fallacy with the "in my opinion" outrage. The onus for assuming good faith from the onset is on the new arrivals, not the original poster of the thread. Not to mention Aveyond seems to be called out far more than any other poster here right now, persona non grata even when certain posters on this very thread are very rarely called out in comparison.
Frankly, from what I see the posters critiquing Aveyond do not wish for politeness from him. They'd rather his opinions simply not show up here at all. They wish for submission, it's the only thing that explains the near constant assumptions and bad will.
Ummmm... I wasn't around for that, and don't really wanna be associated with that kinda thing if it truly did happen, but I feel like I should state for the record that I didn't really like that joke too much either. I don't find flanderization of one gender at the expense of another funny no matter which direction the river flows. Additionally, there was no real reason said joke needed to be carried over into Endwalker. A little off-topic, I know but I felt like I ought to have offered an alternative perspective. I've heard of the male Au Ra memes, and the perception of Magnai but I've always found them rather silly and maybe also a little disrespectful. He's really not nearly as bad as the fandom loves to portray.
You haven't been around long enough to see his nonsense where he just non stop makes one new thread after another complaining about the most idiotic things. He was meme'd to death about his hamburger comments for a reason and dumb garbage about the female characters being too reliable and need to be damsels all the time or how God forbid characters have a moment of normalcy mixed with comedic value where he cringes at Y'shtola having a book fall on her head after falling asleep and suddenly being startled. Because, ya sure those are totally things to be complaining about *eye roll*
I'm curious as to who, exactly, you're including as a 'troll' in that statement.
If you're referring to who it seems that you referring to then I'd like to point out that people posting critical feedback towards the game does not equal 'trolling', especially if they're only getting 'snippy' in response to being told to 'get therapy', 'play other games' or some other manner of feigned concern. Then there's the outright insults, conspiracy theories and threats sent their way.
Incorrect. Certain posters repeatedly derailed such threads and read into requests in the worst possible light to justify crying foul.
There was nothing to "read into them" - he was very explicit in his posts. You just can't stand that the world has moved on from that neolithic viewpoint. As to derailing threads, there was one recently from someone posting about what they liked in EW. And guess what? There's the usual group of trolls bashing them for saying something good about the game on page one. And guess what? You're included!
I'm not even sure what's been happening in this thread since last I checked but by and large I stand by the things I've said in the past. Does that answer everyone's questions?
That definitely seems to be the case for at least one of the names that appeared in this thread, for whatever reason I saw fit to bookmark this quote along with several others I've kept for reference and it basically sums up that scenario exactly:
I have a strong hunch that you actually know very little about him or anybody else you're lumping in with him and are simply jumping to wild conclusions in order to 'get back' at someone who dared to criticise the game. By all means, disagree with his or anybody else's points in a post. Nobody is suggesting otherwise. Though proclaiming that someone 'hates women' because they seek to hold Venat accountable for her actions or want some 'damsel in distress' to moments to balance out the tiresome 'stupid men' trope is rather desperate and dubious.
Incidentally, some of us aren't even interested in women in the first place by virtue of being gay which makes the accusations even more bizarre and bad faith.
I already touched on all this in a couple of recent posts, though, so I'll quote them for your convenience:
Please cease the bad faith attempts at spinning false narratives and attributing false motives to posters who are criticising the game. The simple fact that they bother to speak up suggests some level of investment and enjoyment in the game - which may or may not differ from what you, personally, find interesting.
