I'd take what's said in live letters and interviews with a grain of salt. Yeah, it's nice for general information, but the minor details are subject to change. No reason to be worked up over stuff until you see the final patch notes.
I know it's difficult to compile all this stuff to start with, but it would be extremely useful if y'all'd actually link where you're getting the info from in the google doc itself.
Can we get something better than google translate for this? Google is saying the second sentence is "It is likely to be necessary to switch in advance." If even your primary source is saying "probably," I'm not gonna take it as solid. >_>
戦闘中の切り替えは不可。
is the only thing you need. There is no probably about it. It's a solid you can't combat switch.
I mention this at the top of my document, but there would be far too many things to link, everything in my doc is taken from PLLs, PLL Translations, Press Interviews, Translations of Press Interviews or Game Trailers. For things taken from community, non-profressional translations I only take things from people who have been shown to provide accurate translations in the past, such as Slycer on bluegartr or cygneakrou. Let alone to mention to link everything I would have to retrace all my steps. That document was made for my own personal use starting from about 8 weeks before it was made public and adding to it through out that time, I don't need to provide sources for myself, so I never listed any.
Well, I need that and a working understanding of Japanese. Which I don't have. The kanji says "during combat" something something "not something." That's all I can make out. Hence why I'm asking for something better than google translate, especially since google translate is throwing a " it is likely to be necessary to switch in advance" into the second sentence. That sounds unconfirmed to me, but I'm fully aware that machine translation is nearly impossible to do well.
As for the sources, I realize it's too late to do anything this time around (well, without undue burden anyway). But if you do anything similar in the future, it would be extremely nice. Besides, even if the document is for your own reference, you would need the primary sources to inform anyone of anything, right? :p
Well if you want a japanese lesson to convince you !
戦闘中の切り替えは不可。
first part : 戦闘 means battle, the 中 put after means in, it may be to mean inside or during ( both spatial and time ).
の is the possessive.
切り替え means switching.
so here we have the switch of inside a battle => switching during battle.
は means that what comes before is the subjet of whats come after, you could consider it like to be but it would be wrong grammatically but it wouldn't be far from reality.
So switching in battle is ...
不可 means not acceptable, not allowed, forbidden.
So you can't switch during battle.
edit below :
It says that you will have to see who is in the party and it will be necessary to change stance to be in the correct setup before engaging the battle.
As or the whole switching in battle, I am going to guess that it will be similar to how Stoneskin II works. Meaning, before the pull, you can use the action (in this case switch AST stances). However, once the enemy(s) is engaged, it is no longer able to be used.
Translated it says:
But note that you cannot switch (stances) during battle. So you should probably look at your party composition and make the switch in advance.in the same way we say:
But note that you cannot jump off a running train. So you should probably look at where you want to go and prepare to unboard the train before it reaches your station.
