Yup. You just have to remove the idiot who withdrawn 3 times and the rest of the party should be able to enter the DF.
They don't get multiple strikes based on the number of people. They get one strike per withdraw. If your group messes up 3 times in a row like that, you need to take care of what's causing that before queueing up.
Also, as the GM mentioned, if you're a complete party (4 for dungeons, 8 for trials/coil, 24 for CT/ST) you do NOT get a penalty for withdrawing.
Maybe this is just old FFXI etiquette bleeding through, but we don't queue up our half made parties (or full made either) until people have raised their hands or spoken up with a ready. Not even a Ready Check, people click those without thinking. A quick "we good?" is all it takes for someone to go "yay" or "wait" or not say anything at all.
Sorry you guys are getting trolled by your own parties, but it's an easy problem to prevent.
In a world where everyone behaved according to a set of shared morals and axioms, this is indeed an easy problem to avoid. But therein lies the catch 22, in such a world, this form of punishment would be unneeded. By it's very existence, it assumes that there are those out there bent on exploiting the DF and ignoring any expected courtesies. You cannot have it both ways, either there are people out there who will do anything to get their way and you need to put in systems to curtail that behavior, or they do not, and we would not need it. Frankly, I find this system perfectly fine, and I have not had any problem with it. However, I strongly believe that the part about party queues a gross overreach. The system already removes a vast majority of withdrawals from solo players, and groups shouldn't be punished for valid withdrawals just to get at the epsilon number of instances of groups fishing for friends.
I don't disagree with the system, but the degree. Mistakes happen; pizza's arrive; husbands, wives and children attack; buildings catch on fire - one hopes not too often; no amount of courtesy is going to prevent that, and collectively punishing the party for an indiscretion is one thing, but I don't accept everyone else as collateral damage. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea behind this system, I think it does wonders, but there is definitely too much of a good thing.
*If you'll forgive the post-script, I remember you from FFXI Catwho, it's a pleasure to talk again, though perhaps after the years I am conflating discussions on Allah with actually meeting in game.
There is obviously an issue with this system.
Received a 30 minute penalty when:
- Didn't hit the commence button in time (ran out)
- Hit the withdraw button
- Had a pre-made server party. All left due to kids (abandon vote has a 15 minute wait) everyone was hit. This was not the case BEFORE this patch went into effect.
- People had already left an 8 man run. Again abandon vote was not available. Left when full party was not there. This was not the case BEFORE this patch went into effect.
I've already seen other posts where people are receiving different amounts of penalties or not receiving lockouts from withdrawing. This needs to be fixed.
I am honestly not seeing any problem with the timer and I think its working as intended. If your in a party, be coordinated and make sure your all ready before going in. If your party member purposely trolls to force a lock out and you know it, report him, kick him and wait the 30 minutes/next reset. I don't really see the big deal.
Know your party members when you go in or if alone? Be prepared before you queue up in Duty Finder. I see no reason to change it. I've been glad to see SE put this in. Withdrawals have gone down since its been put in and even I've noticed it now. I've gotten into things a lot easier ever since. So kudos to SE!
