I was involved with it for a long time. And honestly it doesn't take that many people to keep a wiki on a game recieving as little new content as this one is reasonably up to date, particularly when you're focusing more on the general info and not the technical details, which has always been a distinction between the two.
Also telling people not to post there only ensures that it's only "one guy" doing the work, which you have a vested interest in. I refer to BG all the time, don't get me wrong. But particularly for older stuff I find that XIclopedia has better coverage, and they also don't bias the reader against checking out any particular content... AHEM. It's true what I said about XI being more open, since i had to fight with you to make one page just slightly less biased (which it still is, just not egrigiously so)
Just let people decide for themselves. They're obviously going to post to BG anyway, no sense discouraging them from posting it to every info site under the sun, no matter how obscure.

I do wish other people followed us away from FFXIclopedia to Gamer Escape, because I don't know how anyone can use wikia/fandom these days, what with what it has become...
I actively avoid that place now (not limited to FFXI).
That said, if FFXIclopedia is mainly one person only now as well, and me the only one on Gamer Escape, I guess it would not make a big difference heh. I think they might have a bit more enegry than I do, though!
I have so many plans on making the Gamer Escape wiki more up-to-date, with some other updates, but haven't found the being-awake-hours and energy for it yet.
Dihlyte, that is another wiki if you want to contribute/store information somewhere and share it. I can not promise that the site will stay up, but I can promise that your contributions/edits would be welcome.
Oh and this is not an advertisement. I am not an affiliate, just the sole survivor (Helloween reference) over there at this time. ^^
...or so the legend says.
Its always good to have multiple sources, because on a whim one day someone could take one of them down and we would be in the dark. That has happened a lot recently with various programs/addons that were abandoned because the people maintaining it quit (or maybe they died, we are all getting older after all so who knows.)
That was the entire reason for the split, because Wikia/Fandom sucks majorly. Some people still have an axe to grind with the GE staff though, it seems sadly.I do wish other people followed us away from FFXIclopedia to Gamer Escape, because I don't know how anyone can use wikia/fandom these days, what with what it has become...
Sorry but like... you just described literally everything anybody does or talks about on here? Nobody is making good and wise use of their limited lives while playing or discussing an MMORPG, how about we not pretend like any related endeavor is more or less of a sad waste of a life.
It starts to be waste only when you start to not have fun doing it. :]
If/when GE stops hosting the FFXI wiki, I suppose BG will be my next stop... or host one myself.
...or so the legend says.
