FFXI Players Guide

I've been working on my first mythic in game, so I've been moving much slower than normal on progress for this guide.

The next step will be quite time consuming, because I want to take it step by step in-game with a fresh character to see if its 100% perfect.

I also will make minor edits to help make it less confusing for a newer player.

Once these steps are complete, then I will add it to the associated sites. I already have a BGwiki account, I'd still need to make a XIclopedia one, and Gamerescape one.

I honestly never used the Gamerescape page FFXI. I did use it ALL the time for FFXIV though. Especially during 1.0, it was extremely helpful.

I honestly never used the Gamerescape page FFXI. I did use it ALL the time for FFXIV though. Especially during 1.0, it was extremely helpful.

The FFXI wiki was cloned from FFXIclopedia as the same staff originally operated that. But Wikia/Fandom does not let you delete a wiki once created, and they will take control away from you and give it to someone else if it it's inactive. From the point of the split, the content does vary but the older pages are basically all identical.

If you want to make edits, help with FFXIclopedia, it's the original and still the best. Bgwiki could be deleted anytime they wanted, there are no protections in place to keep it alive at all and 10 years from now it might be gone.

Also it's been leaning more into promoting illegal servers of late, which is a cardinal sin for a site like this.

Fandom could close theirs down too, and I for one can not bring myself to even use that place any longer, what with what it has become... and definitely will not contribute to their space any longer, at all.

Allakhazam was the $hit back in the early 2000s lol. Did not discover XI wiki until my third play through after quitting for the 2nd time, then coming back....... around 2011-ish maybe.

Guides are great ideas, but not sure how much traffic the forums get due to the lack of interaction that goes into XI from those in charge.

GE isn't dead at all lol. But it pivoted to being a news and review site more than a wiki site.

I've seen the metrics. Just because you don't visit it / like it doesn't mean it's "dead"

They have large portions of the wiki dedicated to them, something no other wiki would ever do. The reason being, that some of the people who edit bgwiki are associated with those illegal servers themselves.
