Occam's razor (also written as Ockham's razor, Latin lex parsimoniae) is a principle of parsimony, economy, or succinctness used in logic and problem-solving. It states that among competing hypotheses, the one that makes the fewest assumptions should be selected (Wikipedia). It's Windows XP.

EDIT: could also be Server 2003 or 2008 as a dev platform.

I do recall seeing them using XP x64 for XIV's original development however, in spite of that game being 32-bit only. XD
Very big reason for using a 64-bit OS for development of a 32-bit program. Development tools tend to use large amounts of memory, especially the graphic ones that let you mesh and design the 3D environments and models. The final product might not use more then 1GB but the development environment could easily use more then 1.7~1.8GB.

There could actually be a valid argument for "32-bit development limitations" in that the developers tools simply can not handle modern design tools.

Quoted for SE. (See my signature quote from a friend of mine on another forum.)

Hey SE, can we get a list of retailers that will have Seekers of Adoulin? I went to go reserve the Xbox 360 version (since I need a new disc for FFXI on there anyway) and they said they only had the digital PC version listed. Thanks in advance, I just want to figure out if I really have to order it through amazon and wait for UPS to deliver my game when it comes out :3

"Don't take life too seriously, you can't get out of it alive."

Adoulin is installed but still not lighting up on your title screen? Here's what to do:
Go to https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/login?cont=account and log in, then Select Service >>> PlayOnline / FINAL FANTASY XI >>> Add a service account (blue button) >>> input expansion software registration code.

Development began in November 1999 so Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0 would be my best guess.

It takes the same amount of effort to make both XP and Vista look like that. If we're going by "fewest assumptions," then it's Server '03 or '08 used a a dev platform, which come with the "classic" theme out-of-the-box.
