Dear Playerbase,
This staff is for wildfire cors. Don't use it on blm. It is garbage. Stop being lazy and get magian staves
Unless you fit the category of teal blms that aby burned your job, in which case this staff is perfect for you!
Thanks.

Um not everyone feels the need to make elemental staves for elements they hardly use (especially with blm being mainly a proccing job). I have my Ice and thunder magians, and I work on the others when I have time. Not to mention Chatoyant is still better than the DMG magians for the macc assuming it has the same macc as HQ staves, so unless you also run with all macc magian staves pretty sure the staff still has a use.
how bout if you god forbid play more than one mage job?
I think players are broken
90 whm 90 blm 87 sch 79 drk 75 pld 75 smn 68 sam.
For those short on inventory space this staff is amazing. If you're looking to totally minimize your inventory need for a job like SMN, just pair this with a Soulscourge and you're set. Sure the magian staves are better but I know I for one don't have the inventory space to make staves for my SMN, SCH and BRD.
Some reasons to use this item:
- This staff can be used for EVERY enfeebling magic spell and song.
- This staff can be used for EVERY avatar -3 perpetuation cost.
- This staff only gives 10% less damage than a magian staff when under the corresponding weather effect.
- This staff inside abyssea will outperform magian staves due to the difference in "affinity" and "hidden elemental damage increase" when paired with other affinity+ atma (such as Beyond).
- This staff can be used for EVERY Quick Draw.
- This staff has +20 to all resistances making it ideal for mages that solo avatars (I've seen players killed even at 99 due to same day bonus landing).
- Allows for mages to nuke with only one staff, freeing them up to use a WS to get MP back or use Shattersoul.
- It's pretty!
Some reasons not to use this staff:
- Outside of abyssea the magian staves will outperform it for damage.
- Your inventory space is plentiful.
- You can't cap cure potency without magian staff.
- Doesn't retain the bonus (such as Terra's -pdt%) on most individual staves.
Edit:
Potential jobs to make most use out of this:
BRD - every enemy-targeted song
SMN - every avatar perpetuation
COR - Quick Draws and Wildfire
RDM - every enfeeble and nukes in abyssea or if short on inventory for outside abyssea
SCH - [RDM reasons] and cure staff if capped cure potency without using Arka IV
WHM - [RDM + SCH reasons]
BLU - Every magic based spell if playing backline
BLM - [RDM reasons]

Player
just because you say one is lazy because they don't want a magian staff don't mean they are, honestly, its too much work for a staff that ain't used very often, for a black mage the Iridal staff is a better choice for pretty much all posistions and uses oh so much less inventory space. your probably just an old player who is jealous of the new staff because you worked on the magian staves
One has the courage to speak, and he gets a crowd to listen...
As a player who has BRD SMN and BLM levelled and well-geared, and SCH and RDM levelled and not-so-well geared, this stave actually frees up enough inv space for me to make a magian stave or two. Before-hand it wasn't worth doing magian staves as I had to hold all 8 staves for other jobs anyway, and even just doing the thunder and ice nuking staves didn't seem worth it as whenever I play BLM it's either abyssea or VW and I'm just there to proc.
I personally support this stave
I am glad to have 7 more inventory places.
As far as putting it in the same category as teal ... yea.. no.
This staff is a smart choice for those who do not have time to complete all the trials. Lazy has nothing to do with it. I work, go to school nights, and rarely get to play. So for me spending what little time I have on staves I will never get to use because I am always doing Voidwatch, or other events that are more important then trials.
you missed something off your list macro space +1
one extra line for what ever you may need it for
