Valk and Quifm parties felt like a rite of passage, which is why I miss them.
When I started playing FFXI, the order of camps usually went:
Valkurm > Qufim > Yuhtunga > Yhoator > Garliage > Crawlers > Altep > Back to Garliage > Wajoam > Bhafl > Aydeewa > (fuzzy) > Merit Camp.

That whole path seemed like a rite of passage on the way to your first 75.
