Dark Knight ~ 90: Yes I actually use a Scythe.
You should see about getting some friends in on it. Some of the lvl60 mob GoVs can break 100k/hr if you got self-sufficient DDs at lvl80+ each handling their own mob for the page requirements, and then doing it as fast as you can repeatedly.
Only downside is that it'll take some time to cap book page XP. But hey, it's totally not like you have to make sure everyone in your Abyssea group has proper lights to keep the TE flowin. One of the better decisions I feel the devs did with GoV was having the prowess buff survive a D/C and log off. I can XP during the day, log off for the night, then continue again later on right where I left off with my book-Xp/buffs going.
30k and hour? looks like someone else is doing it wrong you can get 120k an hour doing it, but in abyssea you can get 300k an hour without doing pages. So why bother with slower exp when you can take 2-3 jobs from 90-95 in the same time it would take to do one with GoV?
At this point skillups matter to me more than EXP.

Strangely, some people are forgetting that we still get new player in that game. In the past year, my LS got more or less 6 completely new or returning players. Those persons don't always have all the expansions (mainly the returning ones) or they don't feel fine with rushing into abyssea's wonderful chaos. They need alternative, yet fast and fun way to exp.
So doing Books is a good way to do a little exp here and there for those players. I sometimes go to Dangruf Wadi and kill monsters for 30-40 min solo on blu. Make a bit of exp, replenish my points in books (mainly for repatriation), and just go afk when ever I want without being a dumb leech in abyssea. (Yes, you all saw one, someone going at the edge of the exp zone in abyss and going afk for 2 hour hoping he can get exp without playing...)
You have to remember not all player go through this game at Supersonic speed. And reusing the older zones for more stuff saves SE programmers work. It's only good, if they had to build new zones all the time, I fear the game more pressing matters would get even less of the more then needed attention.
Cool story, bro.
(I'm assuming this is referring to a cleave party, and based on my experience last night with one, SE did something that screwed with those because when more than about six mobs died at the same time, apparently no EXP got awarded. It was kind of lame, actually.)
Wasn't it always that way? and I beleive it was anymore than 10 mobs and you get no xp, it works fine as long as you don't try to one shot everything at once. Slower cleaves without 2 hour for instance should work well.Cool story, bro.
