Very interesting spell for sch. I hope the dev team continues to build on sch's DoT abilities. That way it brings something unique to the table and is not just a blm wanna be.

I without a doubt love the look of the spell and the name! I always wanted "Merton" to be brought back. I hated it when they adjusted the name to meltdown even if it made sense it took away from the fantasy aspect. 2 thumbs waaay UP SE dev! Keep it up!

I think you both missed the point if you think I was talking about GA and AM 1 and 2 in terms of damage.
Wouldn't see the SCH needing to farm amber - as he'd hopefully have at least one melee helping out if he's farming for an empyrean. Building sets from boxes solo would suck - especially if it's like Tahrongi.
We've done three emps in Tahrongi so far, and 90% of the farming was done by a BLM/RDM running around casting Aeroga and Stonega on Pachymodiums, gathering them, and killing with Firaja or whatever. Meanwhile, whatever melees ran around the area killing stray Pachymodiums, ambering Bhumi, and opening gold boxes.
Anyway - point is - SCH would be fine gathering a ton of mobs with Stoneskin and Phalanx? The BLM I did it with did a phenomenal job. Definitely used Stoneskin, Phalanx and Ice Spikes... not sure on manawall...
"How do I lock threads?"
Consume the contents of a bottle of Extra Strength Tylonel and then drink a beer. Soon, all threads will be locked.
Am i the only one that noticied that merton inflicts bind? i mean take a real good look at the scorpion, in those 2 ticks of dot that hes taking to die he justs stands there, im pretty sure that merton indeed inflicts bind and as of now is the most awesome spell ever

they might have disabled moving but its highly unlikely i guess, also cant be any other of those status effects you stated as they prevent the mob from turning around to chase you, and as you can see the scorpion do turn around to attack the character after taking the spell damage, also you see that the spell is the first action performed on the mob, so they didnt do anything to it previously i guess (and even if they somehow locked its moviment with some spell/ability it should have broken as soon as metron hited the scorpion anyway, altough as you said they could have locked it with some special gm command).
This is probably the best crowd control spell ever if it indeeds do all that heavy damage and still lock the mobs down so they dont smack you in the face the only 2 things i want to know about this now is if it indeed binds and how long the DOT stay on the target, only nms tough i guess would survive for full effect lol( oh and maybe how the dot damage works if its helix like (more initial damage more dot) or a fixed value).

Depends on what you intend on shining about. SCH, RDM, WHM all already outshine SMN for stoneskin. SCH, RDM outshine SMN for phalanx or spikes spells. And according to the movie it seems like SCH will outshine SMN for using 2 hour chests and kill a huge group of monsters in Abyssea.
Not really zomg SMN is dieing material, but there clearly is a balance issue around. If SE were to make Odin kill ALL mobs in range it would be less unbalanced, but hey SE thinks it is balance to restrict killing 1-4 mobs at once for SMN while SCH is allowed to kill 10.
It also seems silly that SCH gets some kind of 200 HP DoT while slept effect, and SMN had their 25 HP DoT sleep nerfed to 1 HP DoT.
Of course, I don't think this is in any way too good for SCH. It is fine, it is just SMN that needs a whole update for itself to fix how far behind it is.
SMN should just be removed from the game.
