This really isn't intended to be a super-serious thread. I'm just curious how people feel about their AF3+2 set bonuses, not really in theory, but in their actual gameplay experience.
Here's my list:
1) Red Mage: Absolutely outstanding. I used to only use Composure for self buffs, but now I keep it on fulltime. The set bonus is always active (with Composure, naturally) and drastically increases the duration of buffs. It takes some of the monotony out of buff cycles and gives RDMs the time and freedom to cast a wider variety of spells. It doesn't matter what a RDM is doing or how they're approaching a fight - RDM's AF3+2 set bonus is always useful.
2) Dancer: Pretty decent. Since DNCs commonly have a Samba active, the double damage procs are not uncommon. It's very apparent when the set bonus procs on weaponskills, as well. It's not the best set bonus by any means, but I like it. It's a nice little damage boost.
3) Black Mage: Meh. This set bonus cannot proc unless Conserve MP procs first. It's a bit of a bummer. But blowing sh*t up is damned fun, and when the set bonus does feel like triggering, it brings a smile to my face. Unless the NM is still alive and both Enmity Douse and Mana Wall are down. I love exciting little 'uh oh...' moments like that though ... while hoping melees can pry the NM off me before I die (PDT/Refresh idle sets on mages save lives, kids!).
4) Thief: Very meh. This set bonus can only trigger on triple attacks. Even with 19% Triple Attack from gear and merits, the set bonus rarely procs. 2/5, 3/5, 4/5 ... it doesn't seem to matter how many AF3+2 pieces are worn - the proc rare is still too rare. It's neat to see it proc on a Sneak Attack or first hit of a weaponskill, but it happens so infrequently that I don't take THF's AF3+2 set bonus into consideration at all when building and tweaking equipment sets.
