Lv99 Final Trial Staff idea

At level 99, they should make it possible to merge two elemental weapons of the same name, but different stats, into a single weapon. This sounds realistic enough to apply for all elemental weapon trials but not physical.
I have been secretly hoping that this is the way the magian trials will end at Lvl99.

I really hope that Cure Potency will go up to 25%. Other than that, I have always wondered if they'll have a staff that merges all the trials staves together in a trial that requires each staff be traded in at their highest value.

Merging staff trials would be cool, although I'd want to merge all the blm and smn staves of various elements more then different forms of the same staff. I kinda always figured that the cure potency would just go to 25% though.

I know that everyone keeps hoping for an ULTIMATE staff but that just sounds silly.
If they did that then the same would have to be done for other trial weapons. It sounds too broken and boring.

Far from broken, considering that melee dont need to constantly change weapons to effectively do their jobs, then why should mages. To add on it why give sch blm the ability to gain tp from a spell if we are just going to swap weapon every spell. This has been a complaint form most mages since the ele staves and when the overall amount of gear now needed to play msot mage jobs this would also help with inventory issues.

I don't think anyone was trying to apply the same idea to combining all the melee weapons into one.

Having 9 STR/DEX and 20 ACC/ATK on 1 weapon would indeed be overly powerful, but how would 5 ice/thunder affinity on a single weapon be overpowered? Last I checked there are no spells that have dual elements (even skillchain damage picks a single element.)

There is a significant difference between the two. You can only gain the benefit from one of the combined staves at a time because they all give the same benefit to different spells. Combining melee weapons gives additional benefits to the same action.

If the request was to be able to wrap the magic attack, accuracy, and summoner staves up into one your point would be valid, but all we're really asking for is some inventory relief by not having to carry around 8 identical staves.

The staves already have specialized stats though that no other magian trial weapon gets. Cure potency, elemental affinity damage/accuracy+, etc. are already unique to staves. I don't see how you can compare them to the stat weapons. Also, as it's been said, any given spell only has one element associated with it so all those extra stats would have no additional effect.

That said, I don't see it happening :( I would love to only carry 1 weapon instead of 8, but somehow I can't see SE giving us that option. I would hope that I'm wrong though.

I think staff merging is a pretty lost cause. But it would be nice if equipping the final form, level 99, ultimate done forever-version of the staff gave access to a unique ability or spell. Actually I think that would be okay for all the weapons really.

Yes, the beneficial effects would be different. Melee weapons would be overpowered and mages would gain relief from not having to carry around so many staves.

The problem is expecting one to happen without the other happening. This is why I suggested being able to only combine two staves, of the same name and element, into one. If the reversal was done for melee weapons, it would not make them overpowered and staff users wouldn't have to carry around so much. From a comedic standpoint, imagine how the description to all of those staves would look in one description box.lol That is not going to happen.

Wouldn't it make more sense to combine each elemental affinity macc/mab/perp staff into one for that specific element? The lv51 staves have affinity +1 and +2 for NQ and HQ versions. I always thought it would make sense to do all the work for all three affinity trial lines, then combine them together to get "affinity +5". People have been complaining about inv space since the Lv51 staves, and now that's multiplied by three. Not to mention you can't macro in two different versions of the same staff.

I don't know about staff merging, but cast or recast reduction on the cure potency staff would be amazing, considering how poor a boost it got from 90->95 considering the cost, and how poor a boost it is assumed to be getting for the next update (1%).

I would make the accuracy and damage staves in a heartbeat if you could get the cast and recast effects working on cures.
