Suggestions: Quality of Life Stuff and other suggestions

I don't want to complain about Shami's Trove since it's new and kind of nice, but... can Shami's dialogue about it be disabled either after you've heard it once, or if you have a Shami's Key in your key items or Lungo-Nango's Thesis in your inventory? I don't need the sales pitch, Shami, I need to buy another Phobos Orb.

Please consider changing Chocobo Racing, by removing the cut-scene during races. Taking control away from players and forcing them to watch a cut-scene in an mmorpg is a cardinal sin and they hate it. If you allow the race to progress, and the player gets a limited view from where they stand it will be far better. At least offer them the option to watch the cut-scene or not.

I often even refuse to do the monthly, because taking control away from me and making me watch the cut-scene is so obnoxious.

The race happens IN the cutscene. Without the cutscene there is no race. This isn't FFXIV, it won't work the way it does in that game.

I posted this in the RoE improvements thread but I'll post it here too.

Add some low level accessories to RoE rewards, with large amounts of haste on it. Low level combat is far too slow, adding accessories with haste on it will make combat faster and more interesting.

The reason combat was originally designed to be so slow, was because they wanted players to communicate in the party. They aren't in a party anymore, there is no reason for the combat to be so slow for new players. It does not need to be spammy, but it can be better than it is.

While this initially might be a good idea, these days we have trusts to speed up the process. Also, some prefer get PLed fast since one can just cap it in mere 1 hour-ish, this is due to another grind we would have to deal with, starting with the old skilling, which ilvl gears on 99 would greatly helps with survival (or spam skill books from RoE or AH cheaply), and there's the actual current grind that is job mastery & master level, each has about the similar time/effort length (maybe even more) with the old manual lvl grinds. This doesn't really help with current limited dev resources SE have with this game atm.

& yeah, gonna be blatant about this with things been going for some years, since PLing also serves as double purposes for capping weekly RoE sparks & unity accolades on others, combined with places usually camped, which is better if ppl forming parties to reap benefit together rather than fighting for spots, capping accolades might be even more important due to the need of it for spamming unity NMs as well. Orher benefits including fast capping merit points for spamming HTMB & job mastery grind as well, albeit much more effective with apex mobs. But yea, mainly PLing in conjunction with sparks/accolade weekly fast capping.

This is the experience on Asura when you're trying to watch a cut-scene and follow the story, you can turn on a yell filter but new players are not going to know how to do that in the maze of menus.

If there was a 3rd window purely for story it would not be a problem, or it was filtered during cut-scenes.

For a story based mmorpg, this is terrible (it's mainly an Asura problem, but it still should not work this way where all text is mashed together for new players. Awful new player experience, if they care about story.

I don't have a problem with merc selling stuff, but the spam and how it interferes with the story is the problem. Not only that, none of this yell chat is even useful to a new player anyway.

If only there was a person in game who could tell them these things, or a dedicated chat channel for that very puprose... oh wait. There are and there is.

Better solution IMO: simply have it off by default and have the game mention it somewhere in the tutorial NPCs.

iirc I googled somewhere, there might be unofficial addon that add chat bubbles, not sure if it exist or not. But yea... maybe SE need to implement this officially.

Not sure how much it would affect Pankration, but please consider reducing the Jetton cost on the Soultrapper 2000 and plates.

Also, it would be nice to turn in more than one Soul Plate at a time to Sanraku for Zeni currency.

So under map you can change floors but you have to go through the list of zones to do so. SE should add an Change Flr option that takes your straight to your current zone list of maps!

Can we have a 2nd KI added to the defeat of EACH sortie boss that can be used from the sortie entrance to allow us to fight ONLY the boss that we have selected that we have the KI for? The reward would only give GALLIMAUFRY at the same rate that we get currently and you would lose the new KI added when ENTERING not when defeating. This would include individual KIs for Aminon and (Hard Mode) Aminon. It would allow us to generate more gallimaufry without changing the way Sortie works as a whole and make PRIME WEAPONS more accessible.

Alternatively, let us assign extra abilities/job traits we've unlocked from other jobs, kind of like XIV or how BLU spells work.

Please allow PlayOnline IDs to be transferred OFF a SquareEnix ID so that it may be used with another SquareEnix ID.

I could think of a couple reasons why someone would want to "branch off" and get their own SE ID if sharing one with family members. As it is, they would need to start from scratch as I understand it.

Square Enix Accounts were not designed for families. They belong to the individual that established them and no one else. If people wanted their accoutns to be seperate, they shouldn't have linked them in the first place, as all POL IDs linked to one account can only be paid for by that one person. I haven't heard of anyone successfully doing this but you could petition SE support to do this on a case by case basis. It shouldn't be a regular feature though, because sharing accounts is a terms violation.

So as a serious question, why did you even bother responding to this? Unless you actually work for SE, to respond this way added nothing.

Regardless, despite your response, the option should exist. Jump through some hoops, sure ok, but to send what would likely be an empty petition. It's easier to just unsubscribe and move on from the game. Not sure how many people would be willing to start over after losing (not retiring or walking away from) their main character made off of a decision they possibly cannot control.

As an example, parents/kids playing the game together...kid(s) would likely NOT have their own SE ID. Logistically, the parent would likely want to create and control one billing account, not 2, 3, or 4 (which the PO IDs take that place...). If the kid becomes die hard idiots like us, they might want to...you know...move from their parents at some point (hopefully) but still play their character. Doubt the parents would still continue to pay for that though it's possible I suppose. I wouldn't...

It's not SE's responsibility. You're told up front in the terms of service that you aren't supposed to share square enix accounts, which is what you're doing when you put multiple POL IDs owned by different people under the same SE account. The option doesn't exist because it's not a situation people are supposed to be in the first place.

I entirely agree that SE support staff should be empowered to help people in this situation, but it shouldn't just be an option in account management. The only thing that needs to be there is a warning when linking PlayOnline IDs not to link POL IDs that you aren't the direct owner of. Then when they aren't a minor anymore, all they need to do is supply their own payment method and they're all set.

Even in the case of parents and minors, the parent should establish a seperate SE account for the minor, rather than make another POL account linked to their own SE account. Then when they are an adult, they can simply cancel sub, and reactivate with their own payment method and everything's gucci.

This has been answered numerous times by the developers, they will not do it. They would have to built a system to clone the specific character data from the database and put it into a new account, it would be a lot of money and work and they don't want to do it.

Just level a new character on a new account, you can power level and help them.

The main reasons it won't happen are it would cost money to pay a programmer to make this complicated system (when there are far better things they could pay them to do, when they are allowed to have one from the XIV team), very few people would use it so it's not financially viable, and RMT would abuse it.

Remove blaze spikes and similar spells from Domain Invasion, they cause massive amounts of lag with the graphics effects on the spike effect going off on every person hitting the monster on Asura.

Increase Daily Tally for goblin mystery box from 10 to 40, 10 is too low and players run out of points.

You want players to have gobbie box mules, so having a system where they run out of points and are incentivized into unsubscribing them isn't a good idea. Have the increase be linked to Rhapsodies progress

Maybe link the increase to rhapsodies key items.

You can trade items for additional tally. All it takes is a few days of forgetting or not bothering to check and it accumulates faster than you think. And that's aside from the fact that you're ... supposed... to be able to run out of points. Personally, I can't:

It would take me over 2 years, even if I didn't recieve more daily tally in the meantime, to use up all these points (only on the special dial). And it would take many, many hours of opening any other dial repeatedly.
So no, the daily tally does not need to be increased. You can get extra special dial opens via dial keys. If I got 40 a day, this number above would be 4x higher.

The gobbie box is literal free stuff, it is meant to be a little bonus over time for playing. we don't "need" to have it at all, but it's a nice little bonus. Multiplying it by 4 is absurd and unnecessary. It would also enter RMT exploitability territory, as you can vendor items from the medicine dial for not insignificant gil. And where'd you get this idea SE "wants" players to have gobbiebox mules? who the heck creates characters (and pays more per month) just to use the gobbie box? I can't see a universe in which that's worth it. Sure, if you're already using those mules for other things, maybe. I myself only play a handful of jobs with regularity and don't really use mules. I have one, but it's been inactive/not paid for, for longer than I can remember lol.

Goblin Mystery Box:
I'd like to see the daily dial give us w/e item regardless of what we have in inventory. If we already own it, put it in our recycling bin directly that way we can at least send the spare to AH or dbox and grab it instead of never seeing it in the first place.

The reason I never bother doing the daily dial anymore is it takes too much time/effort to move off all the [Rare] drops worth getting off my character.

OR remove the 1 per day limit so i can dbox away all those items then spam gobbiebox when i'm not doing anything better.

If you can't recieve the item, the NPC holds onto it. Least, that's how it worked the last time I couldn't carry the reward.

If it goes into the recycle bin you won't be able to leave the area or it will disappear.

Abyssea was designed to be played in a group, hence yellow ! is assumed to be attempted to proc. This is not really how the game is now, the seal count to complete each piece of gear is far too high.

For instance the number of seals required for a body piece if 10 and every other piece is 8, and very often not only will you only get 1 seal but it's a random seal of 3 jobs. It could take 2-3 hours to complete one set.

The number of seals to complete AF3 upgrades should be 1/2 what they currently are, or drop rates increased.

Pretty sure they accommodated this to an extent and the campaign (login or additional seal) is not exactly rare.

If I could, I'd give you mine as I've been hoarding them for whenever I fulfill my ocd goal to upgrade all the Emp armor.

Add an NPC that tells you where Domain Invasion is currently active, on Asura it's hard to get into the top unity factions to read the messages and so the players have to manually try guess where it is. Asura is the biggest server and has a lot of players on it, adding this NPC would not be difficult to do and would be a big QoL addition.

Could add a text command as well that refreshes the last message (maybe make it fancy and time stamp when it first showed up so we have an idea if there is time left).

Not really that relevant anymore, but chests and coffers should show up on Wide Scan on THF

Players generally prefer home points that combine as many desirable services in their proximity as possible, such as:

- survival guide
- auction house
- nomad moogles or mog house
- Adoulin waypoint
- proto-waypoint
- unity warp NPC
- voidwatch teleportation NPC
- abyssea teleport NPC
- equipment storage moogle

Unfortunately, there are currently no even nearly perfect home points that combine most of these features. Some of the better home points are:

- Norg #2
- Eastern Adoulin #2 (M)

This imbalance contributes to congestion among the few better home point locations, with many characters idling, and even using these home points, there is the frustration of unnecessary zoning to reach for example unity warp NPCs.

The improvement I request is to create a new class of NPCs. Call them teleportation experts, warp specialists, whatever. These NPCs offer any unlocked teleport routes from all of the above mentioned teleportation systems, i.e. home points, survival guides, waypoints, proto-waypoints, unity, voidwatch and Abyssea.

As an extra bonus, you might consider letting these NPCs offer direct teleportation to all 15 peculiar foes locations, if the peculiar foe has previously been defeated.

I would suggest stationing one of these NPCs each at all mog house exits of every starter city, the four Jeuno zones, Aht Urgan Whitegate and Eastern and Western Adoulin, and in Norg, Rabao, Kazham, Mhaura and Selbina near nomad moogles.

If they did what you're asking 95% of players would be in one zone and never leave it, they do what they do so players spread out more and the world seems more alive with people wandering around.

mmorpg player psychology is well known at this point, if they added all these things to the mog house the open world would be dead in a week

Allow Escort for Hire to be completed in a group, not singular players. If 3 players group up, 3 players get clear at the end for talking to her. Currently if 3 players want to do it, 3 players have to do it in turn.

We are approaching the 3 year anniversary of Sortie, and most long-time FFXI players are in various stages of burnout on this content. A Sortie hour, even when Aminon is included, is perhaps 20 minutes of action and 40 minutes of running through purple hallways.

In addition to repetitiveness and tedium, another particular focal point of frustration is the current system for obtaining +2 JSE earrings. ??? Earrings +2 are incredibly rare to begin with, and typically for a job for which one does not seek them, and even if they are for the desired job, typically have the lowest possible stats.

I have no dispute with the obvious need of a subscription service to maintain long-term interest in the service to sustain subscriptions, but therein lies the flaw of Sortie: by burning out players, almost as if designed for this purpose, it does not serve the goal of sustaining long-term player interest in FFXI.

I suggest the following adjustments to revitalize Sortie:

• If a character enters Sortie after not entering for at least 40 hours, all Gallimaufry rewards are doubled.
• Basement bosses always drop an Old Case +1.
• Aminon hard mode always drops an Old Case +2.
• After defeating a ground floor boss, its exit and entry gadgets can be used to teleport to the entry Diaphanous Gadget of any other ground floor boss that the character has defeated during a previous Sortie and has not yet defeated during the current Sortie.

These kinds of text commands would be a great quality of life improvement even if they were not accessible from an entire town zone, but only within a certain radius of the corresponding NPC. It is tedious to have to navigate through clumsy menus that are hard-limited to three rows of options and have noticeable lag, even when Window Effects are turned off.

Good thing they introduced "new" content recently. maybe people burning out on sortie should do that instead.

Sure, the +4 upgrades may not be that exciting by themselves, but remember we still have more coming, and it would be wise to be prepared for it.

But the new content doesn't get you the currency you need to upgrade reforged empyrean armor, which is basically great for all jobs unlike artifact and relic which ranges from situationally useful to a waste of an inventory space. Not to mention the prime weapons. People weren't burning out on Sortie because it was the newest content, they were (and are) burning out on it because it's the only source for a currency which is needed in obscene quantities to make very desirable equipment.

Whereas the new content gets you like +5 to each stat on a piece of armor that, at best, you were only ever putting on for lockstyle or for the secondary bonuses that don't change at all.

Limbus is just another thing to do between Sortie runs, like job point grinding.

The main point is to bring the Relic and Artifact sets up to comparability in core stats with the empyrean armors (such that you'll be more easily able to pick and choose based on the special effects and not feel like you have to weaken yourself to make use of an otherwise useful bonus), and we already know there's a second upgrade on the way- hence why I suggested that people should be putting more time into it to be ready for when the next Limbus update hits. Completing Appolyon and Temenos runs grants stacking permanent buffs, so doing runs now means you'll be in better shape for later updates.

Erroneuously naming certain armors +5 basically all but says there will be a +5; and aside from this, Proto Ultima and Omega are still inaccessible- so we know something's coming.

It doesn't matter what you're getting from whatever future update of Limbus, you still have to grind forever in Sortie to make empyrean +3 and prime weapons. This is what causes the burnout, daily entry means you lose a day's worth of progress if you don't go in and the rewards are too important and their cost too high to make that palatable. It feels mandatory, and it isn't enjoyable after the first few times through it.

I mean... you don't have to... ittl just take longer...

That's the point, take a break from sortie and do limbus... or something else, but I'd suggest limubs.

For Ballista, it's so annoying and complicated to sign up.

Just make it so you talk to the NPC in the zone where the ballista is happening and they give you the license (if they don't already have it) and you can do it, it's so laughably complex barely anyone does it.

Also don't have set times, just make it start once there are enough players signed up to do it.

I remember back in the day when I tried to convince friends to give it a go probably more than half of them just couldn't be arsed to do the license quest.|

Now, the diorama does not ask that of anyone other than the host, so after a while most ballista ended up taking place there- but you also can't earn any titles or take your friends' gil .

I have a laundry list of things that need to happen to Ballista such that at least a few people might be incentivized to mess around with it (or at least spend their Generic Currency Of Genericness) which I will hopefully get around to posting here soon.
