You always got Nether Blast and Night Terror (not on SCH of course). The usual problem is that these actually do not really do any damage on most NMs. (Generally like 300-400)

Again, stop with this 'Only X job should do Y'. That isn't what we are saying. What we are saying is, if X job does Y thing that has belonged to Z for quite some time, only costing more and doing less, perhaps Z should get a buff as well.
Means funeral pyre in Ancient Greek.
I don't care about the name, It could be called Justin Beiber and I'd still use t cause it's epic sauce.. <.<
You need better naming people.
I like Kaustra.
More than Merton.
Merton was always a faulty name since it's the poorly translated engrish of 'Meltdown'
I'd rather have Merton.
It's just the right mix of nostalgia and non-suck... (avoids spells like BRAK (Break), NUKE (Flare), RUB/XXXX (Death), etc...)
Personally, I'd prefer "Meltdown" or "Merton" if for nothing else, it has the classic Final Fantasy name. Remember, this is a Final Fantasy game first, and an MMO second, in my opinion.
ITT Square Enix is a English company?
I liked the name merton...kaustra sounds weird to me, at least Merton had the FF nostalgia attached to it
Spell/JA Update notes posted on the JP forum. I'm off to work so I'll just highlight a few (my jobs mostly. Sorry!)
BLM, WHM and RDM are all getting some very nice spells and abilities. (0 mp for next spell, party magic def up, quick magic - breakga & comet for BLM, holy II and what looks like an occasionally attack twice spell for RDM.) So I'm quite happy about that.
Tabula Rasa is being extended from 30 seconds to 90 seconds. Merton (I forget the new name) and Aura (name changed from Brave) both cost 30% of you max MP and are learned at lv5. SCH also gets the natural upgrades, Raise III, Reraise III, Fire V, Bliz V, etc. WHM learns Addle.
BLU gets the notorious monster ability and 5 more set points. There's an image but I'm not sure what ability that is. SMN is getting the Carbuncle and Ramuh pacts. Nothing else mentioned. Horde Lullably II for BRD and some other songs. Lots more info for other jobs as well. I'm just on my way to work so I don't have time to post the all. They will be up momentarily I'm sure.
I remember self proclaimed AV experts claiming Comet would be light and meteor dark. It's funny. Comet is darkness, guess what meteor is.
I'm... kinda disappointed.
Just so the dev's know raise 3 wasn't the update to light arts we were all hoping for.
I can understand that due to balance issues scholar cannot use some of the more more popular spells as blm or whm. But i feel that under certain circumstances we should be allowed to wield greater magic than what we have already.
Merton is such a great addition to scholar, but to only allow its use under tabula rasa is kind of a let down. it seems to be a powerful spell and i understand the development team wanting to limit our use of it. I have also noticed that the community has issues with sch not being able to cast higher tier cure spells. Cure v in particular.
As a sch, i know my place in being a hybrid of the two job, and i have no intention of wanting to soar above them. But i think there could be provisions made to enhance scholars hybrid role.
A set of stratagems that act like the newly implemented blue mage ability that allows it to use HNM abilities. I haven't gone as far to come up with a name for these abilities, but i will outline what they can do:
Ability 1) under the effect of Addendum White, consumes 2-3 stratagems and allows user to use additional white magic spells: cure v, holy(1), auspice.
Ability 2) under the effect of Addendum: Black, consumes 2-3 stratagems and allows user to use additional black(dark also) magic: -ja spells, comet/meteor, aspir 2, drain 2.
All of that may seem like a lot of things to just give sch, but i implore anyone reading this to consider the impact of using 2-3 stratagems for one spell. That alone seems to be a large enough penalty for the use of such high tier spells. Although if that is not enough, i guess adding an additional mp and/or casting time penalty to the spell in use could be another thing to consider.
I've graduated from disappointed to insulted at this point. Raise 3 and Reraise 3 are a slap in the face to SCH requests for healing capabilities. Nothing from the THREE feedback posts is even remotely represented in this non-update, except the two hour spells that are sounding more and more like they're headed toward the same island of forgotten spells that lolquium and animuseless have been exiled to. At least for a week I thought I'd have a nostalgic spell name to cast, but naturally even that was nerfed, and before implementation.
I've settled on calling it Crapstra. Either that or its potency will be gimped because all the macro lines I'd usually be putting gear swaps in will be reserved for the text "<Casting spell> Merton on <t>" in every chat mode available to macros.
So looking forward to being relegated to Fell Cleave burns in Abyssea, watching RDM and BLM use superior versions of my strategems.
Seriously, this is what we waited a year and have an official forum for?
Incoming *** from SCHs not getting Cure V yet...oh wai...
Question for the Team: Will Temper's "Occasionally Attacks Twice" function like Double Attack as found on gear and the trait, or more like Joyeuse and other multi-hit weapons in that it won't work on weaponskills?
Edit: And whether or not it's self-cast only.
I am kind of happy RNGs get a ghetto TA now we can do something with all that enmity we keep building up.
Now to use it on one of our unsuspecting BLM in our LS who likes to Retrace people for fun... That'll teach him to retrace me when I try going into my Mog House. ;o
Thief questions:
Do we have to be the active target for intimidate to work?
Are DW and Triple Attack increasing at all?
Also besides merits its this planned as part 1 of 2? Cause a lot is missing even before the 99 update.
Umm...did i miss something, or did Monk and WAR get overlooked?
Overlooked? I think you did.
