My setup:
- Nvidia graphics card
- I play FFXIV on Windows (non-Steam) on Bordered Fullscreen mode
- I play on a 100Hz external monitor

1. Framerate changes did NOTHING. I have a 100hz monitor and I kept the game, display adapter, and graphics card settings to 100hz or variable.
2. I reinstalled FFXIV, but a fresh game did NOT fix the problem until I did the next steps below.
2. I turned all overlays OFF. This includes Shadowplay, Discord, and Steam. This is due to others stating that those overlays mess with DirectX dll's which seemed to be the focus of my problem.
3. I edited ffxivboot64.exe, ffxiv.exe, and ffxiv_dx11.exe to run in Windows 8 compatibility mode and administrator mode by default. This change in particular let me log on long enough to port out of the troublesome zone (Rak'tika Woods in my case) before it crashed again in Limsa Lominsa with dx11 errors.
4. I added a "dxgi.dll" file that shaders (in this case Reshade) typically use to fix dx11 errors into the game folder...and suddenly no more dx11 pop-ups. I've used this solution in the past when I've had solely dx11 issues.

With these changes, I was able to enter and finish the new MSQ 5.1 dungeon and walk around Limsa Lominsa. I have not tried going back to Rak'tika Woods yet because I choose life.

EDIT: I had one dx11 crash since (when teleporting to Eulmore) but I was able to log back in immediately after. This might be a regular thing.
I tried this method and i've been able to stay online for like one hours. But any attempt to enter new 5.1 dungeon caused ffxiv exe error. It started to crash all over again after one hour, and now i'm back to the beginning.. Anyways it was worth a try. Thanks for sharing.
