What worked for me was disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox.
I still had 1 or 2 crashes in about a week after disabling that but FF is far more stable now, definitely playable.

I don't use Firefox I use Chrome, but I have hardware acceleration disabled.
I re-installed XIV again (thankfully my download speeds are good, it only takes about an hour), and it worked this morning for the short 30 minutes that I played. I just wish I could pinpoint an exact cause but it's so erratic.
I am still unable to play the game with DX11 enabled. Hardware acceleration is not a factor, it crashes even if xiv is the only program open in full screen mode.
DX9 runs, but noticably worse than when DX11 used to work.
Some people in my free company have noticed that setting a frame rate limit seems to help. This didn't help me, but it might help OP.

And still no actual Technical Support response. Not even a generic list of things to try.

Tried all the troubleshooting steps as well and i still crash.... Major cites are the bane of my existence right now...

And still no actual Tech Support response. Not that I expect anything other than the generic "have you tried these steps"? that everyone else gets, but it would be nice for the issue to at least be acknowledged....
I managed to go 1 week without any crashes. Now today I can't stay logged in for more than 5 minutes without a crash. I have changed absolutely nothing. At this point, there's no way that the problem is anything other than something within the game itself.
My mother has the same problem. I wanted to get her into the game but her game keeps getting the fatal directx11 crash when she sets her game as window or borderless window. A solution to this problem would be nice!
Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums. I apologize for the delay in our response.
Based on the information provided in this thread and other posts made, it seems you have tried all of the standard troubleshooting we can offer. Because of the variability of PC platform, it's impossible to take every consideration into account. As such, there is a limit to the amount of assistance we can provide. However, if none of the standard troubleshooting has had any affect on the error, then we may be looking at a hardware issue.
Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
