    Win 10 - Controller becomes temporarily unresponsive (v2) cont

    I'm having a problem with my controller randomly becoming unresponsive for a few seconds and my character keeps doing whatever the last action was that I inputed. I've encountered this problem over a year ago on a completely different computer with a different controller. This is in a Windows 10 PC. My controller is an X-Box One Elite Controller using a wireless dongle.

    A user on a previous thread said that this was likely because a device was adding/removing itself in windows and this happening during play was causing the lag. They suggested I keep the Device Manager open and to check for if a device is being added/removed, noticeable by a flickering. I was able to confirm that the flickering existed when my controller became unresponsive, but I was not able to track down specifically what device is adding/removing itself.

    Does anyone know of some way of specifically tracking down the problematic device? Is there a windows log I can look for, or do I just have to have the game open and keep staring at the device manager hoping I see a particular device disappear/reappear? Since the bug happens randomly, this is very hard to do.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    As a note, this is actually a re-creation of a recent thread from a few days ago. I'm re-creating it because I asked a moderator if we could open a bug report for this issue, and they opted to move the thread to the bug report forum, which apparently was a mistake because the bug report forum auto-ignores and closes all threads which don't strictly follow their template.
    Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
    Do you only use the controller wirelessly? Is it possible to connect it with a wire? My first thought is that the wireless connection is being lost. Do you have any other wireless signal in the immediate area? Can you turn any of them off?
    We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
    I don't think that the wireless connection is the issue but my controller is capable of being connected via USB, so I will make an attempt to check that during my next play session.
    In the mean time, does anybody know of a way to track when devices are added/removed from Windows 10 which causes the Device Manager flicker? I do believe that this is the culprit and that it is triggering a bug in Final Fantasy 14's sound and input detection system. I can actually forcefully replicate the issue by unplugging various USB sound or input related devices while running FF14.
    Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
    Let us know how the USB cable works.
    One thing you may want to have a look at is the batteries. If the batteries are defective, it could be losing voltage and the wireless signal, causing it to be removed/added rapidly.
    When I was dealing with the issue I just tested all of the devices until I found the culprit. If you compare the device manager list when running the computer in safe mode and normal mode it narrows down which things are extra non-essential devices that only run in normal mode and may be causing interference.
    For me it was the onboard audio thingy for the motherboard which I wasn't using because I have audio through the graphics card hdmi instead. Once I disabled that particular audio device, I no longer periodically lost connection to my gamepad when playing FF XIV.
    I have the same issue, mentioned in another forum post. Nothing so far has stopped it and I've had the issue since 2.0... fully repeatable like posted above.
    I had the same issue for a long time. I read somewhere else, someone saying to disable "Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator" in the Device Manager. I haven't experienced the problem again since I did. It might work for you too? I added an imagine to easily show where it's at.
