Win 10 - Controller becomes temporarily unresponsive (v2)

Core Problem: While using a controller, my character will occasionally become unresponsive and continue doing whatever it was I was doing for two seconds before I regain control. Typically this is just moving, but a few times it was when I was navigating menus, or canceling out of menus.

This is a repeat of a bug I submitted almost two years ago.

This problem is the same exact symptoms as the previous bug but with a completely new computer, new controller, new everything. The computer is less than a year old, running Windows 10. So far the solutions presented in the other thread haven't worked this time. Last time I managed to "fix" the issue by not turning on one of my instant messenger clients (Trillian) while playing the game, but that doesn't seem to be the problem now.

Has this become a more prevalent / known bug? Are there newer solutions someone can point me to?

Hello Nojh, Thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

When did this issue start this time?
What kind of controller do you use?
What exactly have you tried to resolve this issue?

    Hope to be of assistance.

It happens when Windows device manager refreshes due to a device being added or removed, or some kind of conflict such as multiple audio devices being enabled. If you open device manager you'll see it blink whenever your controller becomes unresponsive. Disabling the conflicting device on that list should resolve the issue if you can work out which is causing the problem. Yeah I've had this a few times over the years and it's a pain to squash lol.

So that was a symptom of the previous issue, and I've been keeping my device manager open. I've noticed it blinking but since the timing is random, I have yet to figure out what device is being added or removed. Any tips on how I can narrow it down?

    Hi Airellendera,

I believe the issue started a least a month ago.
I use an X-box One Elite controller with a wireless dongle.
For resolving the issue I've tried turning off my chat client, shutting down various background apps, and keeping my device manager open and trying to spot if any devices are being added/removed. I've yet to notice any devices being added or removed, but I do notice the flickering when the controller goes unresponsive.

Given that this is obviously a problem that has existed in FF14 for over two years, is it possible to file some sort of formal bug report to the developers?

I will be moving this thread to the Bug reports.
