After downloading patch 3.4 yesterday (9/27/2016), I got logged into an extremely long queue (ten minute loading screen that showed the Eorzean map instead of the area I logged out in) and was immediately logged out with error code 90002 before connecting.
I then saw that my data center (Primal) was having issues and figured I'd try later on in the day.
Trying multiple times throughout the day, I've not been able to log in at all on my primary character since the patch. Selecting my main immediately disconnects me with the 90002 error each time at the loading screen, saying "the connection to the server has been lost".
I've tried:
1. Multiple connections and networks across three different ISPs,
2. Complete reinstalls of the game
3. Different in-game configurations (people reported stuff like changing the FPS to 30 and being able to suddenly log on, deleting the character config files, etc.)
4. Out of game configurations (things such as Internet Explorer SSL and firewall settings, compatibility and administrative configurations for the game executables, etc.)
5. Port forwarding
6. VPN services such as WTFast
7. I've tried my account on three different desktops and laptops, one Playstation 4
8. I own a Steam version, a non-Steam version, and a Playstation 4 version of the game. None work.
9. Five different members of my free company have each tried logging into my account and get the same server connection lost message.
10. Name change
*** 11? The only thing I've not tried yet that could possibly still work is a server transfer, but I'm currently the master of a free company which means I'd have to wait 35 days for the auto-demotion function feature to kick in and one of my free company members to kick me (I'm unable to transfer as long as I'm still a member). At this point I'm not entirely sure I'm willing to wait a month just to pay potentially $36 (two server transfers to move from Ultros and back) and fix this problem. ***
It's same response each time I try to log in.
The thing is that I also have an alt on the same server and am able to log in just fine on that character. I've also made two new separate characters that are also able to connect just fine, and I've tried making a character on each data center as well. This problem seems to only affect one specific character, which happens to be my primary one.

Square support directed me to my ISP, and my ISP directed me to Square support. Not sure what else to do at this point other than wait for 9/28/2016 maintenance.
*I never even got the chance to type anything and calling through telephone only has them walking me through forwarding ports and various connection-related minutiae I've already tried ad nauseam*
I will continue to update this post until the issue is resolved.
Update: 9/27/2016 - Emergency Maintenance(s) for the Primal data center didn't help, though some people reported the same error code, they were eventually able to login normally again.
Update: 9/28/2016 - All Worlds Maintenance didn't change the situation either.
Update: 9/29/2016 - Tried contacting a GM through a support ticket and was told to go through the support website (the first thing I tried). Tried the telephone (again) was told by two separate people to contact a GM in-game again. All the GM would provide is the same stock direction to the support website.
Update: 9/30/2016 - I've confirmed this has nothing to do with my ISP (in addition to all the methods tried above, I've had separate members of my free company login to my account and get the same error), and I've asked a GM to simply move my character to another area, received the same reply as the second image. Emergency Maintenance for all worlds didn't work either. ISP tried to offer some solutions over the phone and even sent someone out to look at my modem, even though I knew that wasn't the problem. All they could really tell me was that it wasn't on their end. My connection is completely fine.
Update: 10/1/2016 - Got sent to a GM from the support website they've already directed me to for a third time. Got the same stock response again. It's just an endless loop at this point.
Update: 10/2/2016 - Tried letting my sub lapse and waiting 24 hours before trying a log in again. No change. I will not be paying for another month beyond this if the matter is not fixed. Also tried changing my character name just to see what would happen and currently this is displayed on my free company plaque (i.e. i'm the master).
Update: 10/3/2016 - I got in touch with a supervising GM today. He tried moving my character to a starting city. Unfortunately, this did not work either. My character isn't displaying properly on people from my friends list and shows either "obtaining data", "(deleted)", or my character with none of its jobs leveled.
At least speaking with the GM actually felt like an conversation, but other than moving my character around, they can't do much else.
Update: 10/4/2016 - No change. Was advised by the supervising GM to repost the problem in the bug report forum: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...main-character
There's also maintenance later tomorrow, so we'll see if that helps or changes anything.
Update: 10/5/2016 - No change. Currently tinkering around in Windows debugger to see if anything turns up, but nothing so far.
Update: 10/6/2016 - Still unable to log in following last night's maintenance.
Update: 10/7/2016 - No change.
Update: 10/8/2016 - No change.
Update: 10/9/2016 - No change.
Update: 10/10/2016 - No change.
Any number of variations on this is all I've basically gotten from the support center.
I guess this has been going on for quite a while, with little to no results. For most people it can to be related to their ISP having temporary problems or the server doing a more general hiccup that affects a large amount of people at once. 90002 could mean any number of things, so the insistence from either side of the fence (ISP or Square) that it's one or the other is at fault in the matter is somewhat tiring to have to deal with. Even on the forums here I've only seen a handful people describing the exact problem I've been having, so that tells me the range of how this problem affects individuals and their networks.
