    Good thing the thread will still be here next week, hopefully with enough likes and responses to merit a response regardless of the title (honestly have no idea why that's a touchy thing with some people).

    Annnnyway, I honestly have no clue what my ping is. I live in Florida, and pay for a fair speed internet. My download using speedtest is always around 70 MB/sec and upload hangs around 5 MB/sec, it's not what I would consider crappy internet. As mentioned in the initial post, I fall in the 85%-90% range, which means I can dodge most things in the game. I will sometimes mess up and hesitate, or start off in the wrong direction, and that's enough to get me hit.. but generally I dodge successfully because I'm out by the magical percentage.

    I honestly think it's a combination of latency and the way the client sends character position. I imagine the server is handling the boss casts. So say.. boss starts casting, server sends that to the client, client does a positional check at some point and sends it to the server, meanwhile server is going "boss cast ended, what recent data do I have on player location?" and judging right then. It may not have actually received the latest position from the client due to latency.

    I do think that it's still SE's issue though, as explained in the long post of stuff. No other MMOs have this as an issue, even when handling players with high latency. I also find it hard to believe that this MMO has a larger percentage of players with high latency compared to other MMOs. Either way, something is definitely wrong here.

    Only the fact that despite 140+ pages on the topic with videos etc and not a single response from SE shows how clueless they are in resolving this issue and they'd rather remain silent than admit it.

    I've cancelled my sub until they fix this as the game generates more frustration than fun at this point (and we play for fun!). I'll be watching the forums when pvp comes out as the level of frustration will certainly be raised accordingly.

    I've been playing another MMO at the moment with the same dodging mechanics as I wanted to be sure it was game- and not connection related and I am always in sync with what I am seeing on my screen. No delay in dodging (I prefer the word "delay" as to me I dont see lag in FF but a delay in everything that's happening). So it's clearly an SE issue.

    It's entirely in their hands now.

    This is a thread that needs to be noted by devs. Just any information on what/if they're going to do about this would be nice, even if its a "We don't know yet".

    I also fall somewhere around the 85% range, but as long as it stays at that level it doesn't really cause major issues. I never get hit unless I know I've been bad (or I experience one of those mysterious R0 pause->fastforword lag spikes, but that's an entirely different issue). I've even gotten into the habit of using this delay to my advantage to allow casting when moving once my own cast bars reach a similar level. In Titan, Demon Wall, or ADS for example, I can often time it so my in-progress cast goes off after I've successfully dodged the AoE without being interrupted by the server.

    Essentially, according to the server, my cast must have truly completed with healing processed server-side when my cast bar reached ~85% on my screen, but in regards to fairness and balance, the same also occurs with enemy cast bars and damage. The syncing performed by the servers, while it exists, just isn't stringent enough.

    I do feel for those who experience this issue in the much more extreme fashion of those 50% videos. If it really is that bad for some people, that goes beyond what you can compensate for.

    Thank you OP for this, along with latency, this is the biggest issue of the game.

    0.3 sec. it's REALLY too much.

    I love how square-enix continues to say this is an issue with our ISP's however, it is rather obvious the problem lies on there end. The amounts of time i got hit by aoe, even when I was already way out of the casting area is just sad and extremely frustrating. 0.3 second delay with servers based in canada means the client will take 0.3 seconds + the extra time needed to travel there, which can be for anyone near 0.1 to 0.3 seconds extra depending on your internet speed is it not.

    Actually there is. They can increase the time it takes for these abilities to fire off. Which will make everyone with good latency yell "ZOMG EASY MODE, I QUIT".

    I do have to say that my latency varies with dungeon instances. Sometimes nothing, sometimes manageable, and sometimes impossible amounts of latency. So it also seems like they could possibly improve their DF system to have less latency.

    If everyone was a good guy though, they could simply let the client return data if you were outside or not. But hackers would set that to always outside and just stand still.
