The last post on that thread seems to show SE's attitude towards the player base with lag issues.

"We don't see anyone else posting about lag, so it must have solved itself."
Lag is a bit of a different animal than how the client deals with positional updates. SE literally cannot fix lag that is a result of the ISP or the player. So I can see why the thread was resolved the way it was. I see no mention of getting hit by AOEs after a person is out, which doesn't so much have to do with lag as it has to do with how the client is communicating (or not communicating) with the server.

People are going to lag, that's inevitable, and lag can mean a variety of thing. Disconnects, rubberbanding, stop and go movement. I'm not really expecting SE to fix those things, nor do those things seem to happen large scale anymore. The two are actually two separate issues. The one I'm speaking about is more akin to what is in the accepted bugs forum, however, as a mod has already informed us, all that means is they've gathered enough information to investigate at some point in time... sometime...maybe.

Whatever is causing the positional lag and whatever excuses SE comes up with it's just going to be that - excuses.
I've played games with servers across Atlantic, I've played ones with servers in a middle of nowhere (read: SEA countries), and never in the past decade have I seen such poor network code, not even in the worst cases.
If SE thinks it's all fine (hey, maybe it *is* fine for JP players, I dunno) and we're *supposed* to smile and play a game built around tight movement and pray that laggy positioning update doesn't kill us in the process, I can't see this whole thing lasting. Not with the amount of competition on the WoW-clone market.

They've been "looking into this" since beta, I suppose people's patience will run out eventually... I'm not seeing how they can drop 2.1 on people out without fixing this issue though, pvp will only highlight it. I suppose they will anyways though?

The point wasn't to point out the similarity in threads. The point was to point out that the moderator basically said, "I have seen no one else complaining about lag, therefore it must no longer exist." And ANYONE who takes a minute to click the "Today's Posts" link at the forum top will see about 5 threads per day with that exact subject matter.

The point was to show that SE is just blatantly ignoring any issue regarding server performance.

Exactly my thougts too. SE would close this thread to as soon as we quit to write in here.
Maybe all threads will automatically been closed after 2 or 3 weeks when no one writes. Dont know.

But it shows how SE is handling such things.

I've been liking posts in this and similar threads for weeks now, but just to add my support, the AOE delay is truly ridiculous. I have my graphics to the lowest setting and then went in an disabled some additional effects, enabled unlimited frame rates, have my camera out at max etc. and while I did notice things rendering faster it does not change the fact that by the time some AOEs such as the WP Keeper AOE or Weight of the Land appear, if they are centered on you its all ready too late to get clear. Yes, I can premove and memorize rotation's, but having to do that amount of work for a video game such as memorizing the 30+ steps to titan choreography is not fun. When I want to learn choreography I take dance classes and as a bonus my dance teacher never throws me off a cliff when I mess up. There is so much I like about this game, but its not going to be enough to hold my attention past my current 6 month sub if endgame is not a part of it.

I've gotten to Titan... and experienced the lag. Worse, I have seen other players completely out of the highlighted area, get hit by landslide. It happens in other fights before Titan...but Titan is the first fight where not dodging is an instakill.

Square Enix, the lag between the game firing off an area attack, and the game rendering it on the screen has not 'taken care of itself'. If you can't fix it, this game isn't going to have much of a lifespan. The majority of players have now arrived upon the Titan fight, and I imagine all fights going forward have the same one hit kills, people are going to get sick of the lag real quick. Fix it for your own sake.

People who ask this problem to be 'fixed' is missing the point. This isn't a bug or the result of cheap servers. You can play on very cheap MMORPGs and never experience the same kind of lag as FF14. Even if you are on a server where the hamster just died, the situation eventually improves when the hamster is replaced, or when enough people decided to quit the game. In FF14 you could be playing at 3am doing Titan and you'll get the same old predictable lag because it's built in to the system and not the result of cheap hardware. So treating like this as a bug would get you nowhere. Devs would indeed just say 'it's working as intended'. This is akin to have a 'super hardcore' encounter where it's intended for you to zone into a fight with no floor so you just fall and die. You can yell about fixing all you want but it's actually not broken when the design is just for you to zone in and immediately die. For any progress to make we need to tell devs to change the DESIGN of the game itself.

The all the devs are paid to say "its not server side it must be your computer, I don't have any of it." Or, "Your zoom is too close, zoom out and you won't get hit by things."
