SE devs still cover and dont respond to this problem
I've gotten to Titan... and experienced the lag. Worse, I have seen other players completely out of the highlighted area, get hit by landslide. It happens in other fights before Titan...but Titan is the first fight where not dodging is an instakill.
Square Enix, the lag between the game firing off an area attack, and the game rendering it on the screen has not 'taken care of itself'. If you can't fix it, this game isn't going to have much of a lifespan. The majority of players have now arrived upon the Titan fight, and I imagine all fights going forward have the same one hit kills, people are going to get sick of the lag real quick. Fix it for your own sake.
People who ask this problem to be 'fixed' is missing the point. This isn't a bug or the result of cheap servers. You can play on very cheap MMORPGs and never experience the same kind of lag as FF14. Even if you are on a server where the hamster just died, the situation eventually improves when the hamster is replaced, or when enough people decided to quit the game. In FF14 you could be playing at 3am doing Titan and you'll get the same old predictable lag because it's built in to the system and not the result of cheap hardware. So treating like this as a bug would get you nowhere. Devs would indeed just say 'it's working as intended'. This is akin to have a 'super hardcore' encounter where it's intended for you to zone into a fight with no floor so you just fall and die. You can yell about fixing all you want but it's actually not broken when the design is just for you to zone in and immediately die. For any progress to make we need to tell devs to change the DESIGN of the game itself.
The all the devs are paid to say "its not server side it must be your computer, I don't have any of it." Or, "Your zoom is too close, zoom out and you won't get hit by things."

While it's nice to be able to cast esuna while running, I don't think that was intended...
This should be stickied until the design is fixed
the server does know where your charactor is or we would see dead bodies sliding around like the 1.0 days, so there is a more serious issue with race conditions and unsynched threads on the server
Race condition implies the winner is not certain. There's no such issue here. The server ALWAYS wins no matter what it looks like to you. The problem is that the winner (the server) is operating from an environment that the player is basically not able to see on time.
I don't have anything to add, but I wanted to thank the OP for posting those videos, as that is *exactly* what I am seeing on my screen when I try to dodge out of the red areas. I've spent the last month thinking I must just be terrible at this game because I can't dodge things, and it has really been bothering me-- it is kind of a relief to know I'm not alone.
Definitely not alone at all, which is all the more reason to keep the thread bumped upI don't have anything to add, but I wanted to thank the OP for posting those videos, as that is *exactly* what I am seeing on my screen when I try to dodge out of the red areas. Out of everyone in my FC, I'm the only one that comes to the forums at all. Most don't care about the game enough to spend any extra time trying to get the issue fixed or reporting it. They basically stick to going "I know you guys don't wanna hear this, but I was totally out of that".. and then others sighing and going "I know".. and that's that, they'll quit the game before taking the extra time to report an issue. So I'm kinda representing all of them as well, and I know a few others are in the same boat (representing entire groups that flat out don't do game forums).
