Attention: One Level 50 Doesn't Mean You're at Endgame. Sorry!

One of my biggest annoyances when building an Endgame Party is how unprepared most players are for the more difficult content. I get so sad when I post a shout which looks for certain criteria, which is Darklight, Relic, and various others elements and still people respond to my shout who 'think' just because they have the gear they are prepared.

This game isn't about the gear you know. You can have all the best gear in the world, but if you cannot play your class -- you will not be welcome in the true endgame. If you think "Farming AK and CM over and over" is endgame, you're sadly mistaken!

Like it or not, this current Endgame is and is only two things: Primals & Coil. Not much, but there is enough to do there to keep a high tier party occupied. I run a Primal Farming LS and Coil LS -- and I admit my tests for entry are pretty damn harsh. I really have to filter out a lot of people who think they are prepared. After so many times of repeating myself, I decided to at least create this thread.

Great, you've leveled one job to 50. Do you realize that job has Support Classes attached to it? Do you realize that as a White Mage you have access to other abilities you've yet unlocked like Fast Cast for example?

Please, take time to level BOTH of your Support Roles to 50. Otherwise, I and many other endgame groups will not accept you. Which means, you need three level 50s for endgame. Not one.

Leveling up other classes to get the extra abilities that cross over takes like...2 days of fate grinding. Far as I know for WHM, you only need to get ACN to 34 and THM to 24 to get what you need so one does not need to cap those out; correct me if I am wrong.

Personally, I am not an 'alt' person. I find a role I like and stick with it for years on end usually.

Exactly, which is why I find it so hard to believe people don't even take the time to do such a simple thing... But I don't like them doing it via Fate Grinding I admit. This is why I also throw them at Titan and test their performance based on many of those in Linkshell whom I know can perform their roles flawlessly. So many people with gear and levels just can't handle even basic stuff. I get so sad to see how so many people fail to handle a fight as simple as Titan.

working to hit 25 for the 4th time. If you're playing end game after the game's been out a month, I feel sorry for you, because it sure isn't going to last you the many years it will last me.

Huh? Why three? Does getting them to 50 do anything for you? Or is it an excuse to ask for a player with more versatility. If you get that support class to 50, are they expected to raise the support classes class to 50?

I'm sorry to say this, but if "this game isn't about the gear", why do you shout with gear criteria ?
And besides, gear is not enough for endgame but saddly it's necessary, so it's mainly about the gear.

And thankfully, no support needs to be leveled to 50. The higher cross-class I saw was Mantra from PGL42 (Don't have time to check THM or ACN), and it's not that useful when you can only choose 5 skills. Since it's very long to level multiple classes, finishing roughly at 35 is a real blessing :p

You need the Gear for Coil. But just having the gear doesn't mean you're ready for Coil.

No you don't. You're example "Fast Cast" which I assume you meant Swift Cast, is a level 26 Thm ability. That does not require level 50 Thm. Please use a better example if you are going to make such a ridiculous statement. I'd also like to know just what Arcanist abilities make such a huge difference in a Whm's repertoire that they need to be level 50 for?. And I'm a lvl 50 Summoner, by the way. I have leveled my Archer and Thm to the point where I have, from what I can see, the more useful abilities to my Job. Raging Strikes, Thunder, and Swift Cast. Surecast has yet to prove all that useful so I've taken it off my bars completely. And while I could possibly see Quelling Strikes as an okay thing to have, it's still extremely situational and in the end, not very useful for anyone other than Archer/Bard. The same can be said about Hawk's Eye, except it doesn't even help a spell caster at all, so rather pointless altogether since we do not use dex much (at all) and do not do physical damage. As a Summoner, there is no point to leveling my "sub jobs" to 50. Thm only needs to reach 26, and Archer only needs to be level 4.

Perhaps there are other jobs that gain access to more useful abilities, but from what I've seen none of those are from level 50.

Try again.

Pretty sure if you are doing end game stuff, you are doing end game...... Leveling is NOT end game. End game is doing end game stuff, if you are doing end game stuff you are on doing end game whether you are all 50 or just one.... I swear this community needs to change.

Why in the name of the Twelve would you need to get 3 classes to 50? 34 is the highest you should bother getting a support class as there are no useful abilities beyond that can be used by your main class. Some support classes are even lower than that. Further still, I question the necessity of these support classes. How much is that -really- doing for you considering you get weaker versions of those 5 abilities? I'm curious if anyone has tried running high tier content with a group full of people not using any support classes. If you have competent players who know their one job should that not be enough? Is this support class stuff not "extra"?

Given the context of this thread I find it quite hilarious that your "Main Class" is THM/BLM and yet you refer to Swiftcast as "Fast Cast". Maybe that's just me though...

Get another 2 classes to 50 (that don't need to be 50 for the skills you need)
And having end game gear doesn't make you ready for end game.

I would also not accept you if you only had 1 lvl50, guess why? Because you server virtually no purpose, you might be the best 1 trick pony on the planet, but I would take someone who can play any job over you, because content takes different setups. The different coil turns have different optimal setups, if you play drg, you are SoL and not going as drg.

By that logic no FC/LS should ever be more than 8 people, and when the 24-mans come out, no more than 24 people. Come on now...I'm not one to jump into the elitist/casual bs but that post and the original post are a bit ridiculous. You don't need to level the subclass for your job to 50, all you really need is to get it high enough for the skills and that's it.

hmmmm, interesting opinion. Not sure I agree, but then again I do coil and primals and I would have to say... I much more enjoy getting the whole community better than selecting only a few and forgetting about the rest. An MMO is about the community, not how awesome you and your linkshell is. Once you get coil down, it can happen in < 1 night... and primals... who cares? you can max your Myth in <4 hours... in literally 1 day you have finished a whole week's worth of content and have to wait for the next week to start.... point being... Play for people and to have fun... not just so you get gear. And 3 classes to 50? No... and even higher than 15 depends on the class you are playing (this does not help your argument, nor make you look like you know what you are talking about - if I were you I would probably edit that out of the post.)

This... mindset I can't help but feel hurts the community more then it helps it. Refusing to take players on runs that they need isn't helping them learn fights and things they need to learn. I understand the demand for proper gear, but often times it seems people blow the requirements far out of proportion. Fine, you want to run a strict FC that has all these rules, whatever. That's between you and your FC. But if you're shouting for people to help out and people need to get things done, I really feel you should take them along or at least politely let them know how they need to gear up before they can do it. I think requiring 3 50s is borderline absurd.

I'm so glad I found a kick ass Free Company that isn't full of players with this mindset. People that treat these games like a second job are pathetic quite frankly.

Leveling up your support and tertiary classes high enough for their useful skills? Yeah I agree, this is a must. Leveling them up to 50 though..? Uh, why? Mind you I personally intend to level everything to 50 sooner or later, but.. this just seems so horribly unnecessary. A restriction like that is honestly doing more harm than good for your filter.

Titan as a test though, I agree with.

So wrong, how people chose to use their free time is up to them. Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted. What is the point in life? To me everything I do in life is so I can allow myself to have fun. I work so that I may have free time and have some fun. If I choose to use that time to play a game I want to get the max out of it and not have others waste my time. Which is why people like me might get mad if I'm ready for something and their not but they went anyways.

I haven't even tried Titan HM yet, because I will be main tanking it and feel I'm not ready and don't want to be carried or have my hand held. I leveled warrior to 50 and my pld is 44 atm. Taking both to 50 and getting relics on both for I even attempt to do Coil. Once I've got both to 50 and both on Titan (need pld to catch up) I'll spend hours watching videos and crap the FC and go do Titan HM and attune to coil.

It actually does, if all you want to play is one class.... Going beyond that is really like leveling alts in a different game. Was different in 1.0 where you had to have more than one class for those retarded speed runs and switching inside the dungeon, but all that is over.

In Turn 2 of coil, 1 path gives piercing resistance to the boss, the other path gives constant aoe dmg around the boss which would need to be healed so melee's are generally not used. You would not go drg.

Because in every mmo I've played, I've been a healer. I enjoy healing. I have no interest in dps.
So please, tell me again how I'll be excluded for not having another role at level 50.

Apart from stoneskin and swiftcast, I don't need to level for anything. And those two skills are gained long before 50 on their respective classes.

Any group that would expect me to level my subclasses past the point where I gain worthwhile cross skills from it, thus wasting time that I could have spent playing on and perfecting my gameplay on my primary class, in order to become "ready" for endgame is dumb as crap and I certainly hope they do turn me down, because it will safe me the grief and aggravation of dealing with their noobishness mid run.

Our fc has a drg and a mnk and they make it to turn 4....
It might not be optimal, but that doesn't mean it's not possible.

By that logic the US would never have made it to the moon, because it sure as heck isn't optimal to do so as a human being in a tin can with a wrist watch worth of computer power. I wouldn't be at work right now either because getting out of bed is not optimal when I'm still tired...

Where do people get off on saying they are not going to do something because it's not optimal? Go put this on youtube or something, the forum is not an optimal place to communicate.

When did people playing MMO's forget how to progress (lots and lots of wipes). Now days people start kicking and blaming everyone on like the 2nd wipe... I remember wiping 100's of times in past games with the same group of people until we new each other's fantasies and personal feelings and we downed it.

I remember the days when a group would wipe and I'd make comments to our tank about his being bad at the game. Telling him he can't tank. The tank would say it was my fail healing that caused the wipe. Then we'd agree it was the fault of the dps/dd. We'd all joke about it because we knew it was just a bit of fun.

Now when a group wipes... the same things are said. But by rage filled elitists who want the perfect/smoothest/fastest run ever in the history of any game. And it's always everyone else's fault when that doesn't happen. Normally followed by a rage quit.

Look, if you have exceedingly specific and demanding standards for those who are in your Free Company, that's great.

If you shout, looking for specific items/gear, that's also great.

If someone responds with that gear, but doesn't have their sub-classes leveled, you have a few options:
- Tell them NO
- Tell them YES, contingent upon their initial performance.
- Tell them NO, then tell them why and gently suggest that they level thieir sub-classes and what specific skills they should add
- Amend your shout to include the sub-class requirement.
- Only go with your Free Company mates.

How you choose to play is your own business, and while I may laugh myself hysterical at your choices, they're still your choices.

One important thing I've learned in life is this: You either want help doing something, OR you want it done a specific way. If you want help, you take the help however it comes and be grateful or at least civil about it. If you want it done a specific way, well then, you either do it yourself or nicely teach someone who is willing to learn how you would like that help.
