8 Tips to lead Titan HM PUGs for your first relic in /shout.

-Don't random DF anyone. It is unlikely to win.

-In your shout, make it clear you kick/replace any players that consistently die and/or lag. Naturally, you should be very experienced, decently geared, and never die first to avoid mockery. Keep a 'blacklist' of players.

-2 heals and 2-3 DPS can easily live to titan 20%... Any healer that consistently dies and/or cannot heal in phase 5 should be replaced!

-Before starting attempts, go over things with your group. 100% understanding of mechanics is required for successful completion.

-During attempts, no one should type in party chat unless it is informative. Otherwise, they should shut up.

-The way my group won: Setup: DRG failDRG PLD MNK BRD BLM SCH WHM, no LB build, LB1'd the heart, 1 DRG dead at beginning of phase 5 to the end, DRG LB3'd for win. Basically, was a 7 man run.

-If you have any relic friends, invite them. I ended up winning without any relics.

Indeed, relic weapons is not needed.
Had a marathon at this guy yesterday, both with server folks and DF.
90+ wipes, I shit you not.... but we won in the end...

The group I won with, had a relic bard (not +1), a DRG and PLD with garuda weapons, the rest had ifritt weapons including me. 2x drg, 1 mnk, pld, whm, sch, 2x brd.
We never used LB on the heart, we manged it just fine without.
A lv 3 healer LB saved us from wiping to stomp in phase 5, and got the dead SCH up. A DRG died close to finish, but we made it. It was just amazing.

22½ hours of Titan fighting, 9 different groups, 90+ wipes.... Dont think I have ever focused so much on 1 stinking fight a whole day before.

What if you, the one forming the group, are the one to constantly die and/or lag :o.

Anywho, the Titan pugs I won with didn't need to threaten anyone while forming the party, and we still won in the end. Guess its the culture. And I've come verrry close to winning a with a DF group, with 2 scholars, no lie.

After wasting about 25 hours on this over the weekend I am going to form my own shout groups in future and be strict with entry requirements just like the OP suggests, unless I beat it with my FC before I get round to that. It's the only way to win and if you are that person who dies then you're not ready to join such a group nevermind create one.

The groups that don't have strict entry requirements aren't going to win because people join these who think they can dodge but in reality fall apart after the heart. I can't blame them, how else are they going to improve? DF groups aren't going to get that far.

You missed the 2nd sentence heh. I guess I should add that there were not strict requirements for the ones I won with. Its just the mentality of the server...

The fact that "relic weapons arent needed" was even mentioned was full derp... no duh they aren't needed, the fight is designed around people not having them hence its part of the relic quest... man oh man this community is lulz

Yeah but Garuda is like 50 times easier than Titan, which is why I didn't comment on that sentence. Garuda is less about dodging and more about DPS, dodging is usually the cause of a Titan fail because it's harder than just DPSing.

Though I did miss your line of almost winning with a DF group with 2 SCH but it depends what you mean by almost. I'd think 2 SCH is next to impossible because they aren't very good at AoE cures and Tumult will kill you late in the fight without good AoE heals. DF also gimps you by giving you 2 tanks, and while that doesn't make it impossible it lowers your DPS resulting in a longer fight and more chance of wiping since Tumult increases in every rotation.

I'm probably wrong that strict entry is "the only way to win" (I'm sure someone on here posted they won in DF once) but it's by far the best and you're just setting yourself up for a lot of wasted time/headaches doing it any other way.

I think the main piece of advice I would give anyone running this is: Be patient. Going ape shit because you wiped isn't helping anyone, it may be some peoples first time, if it is explain the mechanics coherently and simply, expect to die atleast a couple of times, don't nerd rage at people as it usually makes them preform worse, always keep an upbeat attitude, even if your the only one talking, after a wipe saying something like "ok that was practice we can win this time :)" it makes everyone feel much better.

Hey a relic +1 is required for Praetorium these days! At least if you believe the shouters in Mor Dhona.
Which I find hilarious because they do that trying to knock a couple of minutes off the run time but in the end they spend about an hour forming a group that could have taken 5 minutes. Over all they end up with less tomestones per hour. But that's getting off topic.

I got my relic saturday with similar rules in the shout party.

We got it in roughly one hour, ~7 attempts, two people kicked and my cat turning off the PC when Titan was at 5%, wiping everyone (I was healer and he used Tumult right after) forcing us to redo the battle and win again .

Hard to say as I've not played with a relic SCH, but I doubt it will boost their AoE heals that much. SCH isn't useless for the fight however, WHM + SCH works very well. Could be wrong as I'm no healer but I hear their single target heal is better than WHM. So they work together nicely.

I meant titan. Accidenlty put Garuda pugs lol. It was a titan DF that I almost won with 2 SCH. Got it to 17 %, but one of them bit the dust.

Impressive lol. I think I've only seen past the heart once in a DF group. Even had parties wipe on the first phase where it's just Landslide > Stomp.

Does Sacred Soil/Whispering Wind stack? They went with 2xEos, so I'm kinda wondering. Keeping fairy on obey gives you control over her AoE heals, and it seems he's doing just that. Good thing the fairies are almost unaffected by the damage and knockback. Other than that, they just had to cast Succor so that it doesn't clash between the 2 SCH I guess. Nice work there.

The party I went with was 2sch/1whm. I used Eos, the other guy used Selene. I did not maintain any control over the fairy during the fight. I focused on getting ss down for the phase 5 stomps , avoiding shit and just making sure the tank wasn't going to eat a mb that was going to kill him. Perfectly doable, no relics involved. That party... well we had a different whm to start with, he 'disconnected' after an hour and a half maybe? Went out, got a new whm, won first time. It's so helpful if the whm is on the medica2 ball!

Just the fact that you're mocked if you die first is a good example of how bad the community is.

Also do not Run DF because there have been cases or people purposely failing so they can sell runs. other then that run with people who know the fight and have won, if your lucky enough to have a LS or FC that have run them go with them and do it. don't get lured into buying a win.

I think you missed the part where he says "make clear you kick players who die, just make sure to not die yourself". Which makes it not mocking because you die, but because you wanted to kick others who die yet die yourself. Which is perfectly understandable.

Killed Titan on Sarg with a pick up group on the weekend following the games release date. After at least 15 combined hours of attempts here are my essential tips:

• Your members all need some form of VoIP communication. Ventrilo, Teamspeak, Mumble, Skype etc. They don't necessarily need mic, but the ability to listen is extremely important for less experienced and geared players.
  
  
• Learn Titans ability rotation. You should familiarise yourself with at least his post-heart phase skill order which is:
  Mountain Buster -> Stomp -> Weight -> Bombs -> Landslide -> Mountain Buster -> Weight -> Gaol -> Landslide -> REPEAT.
  
  
• Your tank is basically a motionless punching bag with nothing to do except 123 and rotating CDs for Mountain Buster - This person should be designated to call out Titans skills, before they happen, over whatever VoIP you are using. This allows the dps and healers to ready themselves for incoming Weights or Stomps without having to lose focus too much on actually dealing damage and healing.
  
  
• Vet your members carefully. Don't listen to whiners in full greens and greys, you have no business doing Titan for your relic without a passable amount of gear - what you consider the threshold for "good gear" may vary. The stricter you are the higher your success rate will be however it will likely take longer to organize a full party.
  
  
• Members who show inability to dodge attacks (Landslide in particular) over multiple attempts should be removed. Occasionally getting hit by an awkward Weight pattern or being out of position during Bomb -> Landslide is forgiveable. What you don't want is someone who consistently gets hit or knocked off, especially pre-heart phase.
  
  
• It's an unfortunate reality but members who are lagging should be removed (ideally they should voluntarily leave anyway). This is a crapshoot most of the time and one person may experience horrendous lag within instances and be fine outside, but the next day it will be fixed.
  
  
• 3 healers is unnecessary and just prolongs the final phase
  
  
• You may find yourself a slither short on DPS to down the heart in time, in this case it's possible to prolong the first phase of the fight for a short time in order to build up your Limit Break and make up for the slow damage.
  
  This method works but it extends each attempt by quite a while and the entire thing becomes soul sucking on another level. Additionally, if you have damage problems this severe with a 5 dps 2 heals set up you should probably reconsider your gear vetting threshold.
  
  
• 
  General Tips
  
  PLDs: use Flash 2-3 seconds before Mountain Buster for a decent chance at dodging it completely. Use one defensive cooldown per Mountain Buster starting with Rampart.
  
  SMNs: do not cast Ruin II on Titan post-heart unless PLD cannot follow the above tip in which case do it for him/her.
  
  Ranged: Watch your positioning relative to the other party members so you don't cover the entire arena with death when he uses Weight of the Land.
  
  Healers: Use Virus before Mountain Buster, or stomps. Try to time Medica II to go off just as the first Stomp lands, follow up with standard Medica. Sacred Soil is useful for stomps or mountain busters, don't forget about it. Stoneskin/Adloquiem before Busters.
  
  Melee: Never stand in front of Titan. You will die.
  

Think I need to be more thick skinned making groups for this ): I allowed a war in to tank, I know war can do it but this guy didn't work. It wasnt that he was bad, he just didn't have enough gear and was taking too much damage for us to heal fast enough, I let it go on too long. In the end I brought in a pld and let him attempt to DD because I knew he wanted his relic and most shouts I see refuse to take war, but we didn't have enough dps for it.

In the end I finally got a good group assembled, and we did okay, but seemed every fight something happened, someone would lag, someone would dc, I got myself stuck on autorun by accident at one point and ran straight into a landslide when I was trying to avoid it lol =_=;

We gave up because it was pretty late by then, but it's certainly helpful to have a group who doesnt rage and stays calm throughout it all. We also had someone with a macro calling out plumes which was a big help for those of us with bad latency, very rarely did anyone get hit by plumes. Also helped me as healer since it's pretty stressful keeping everyone alive and also trying to keep track of when plumes are about to happen. I will get my omnilex...eventually @_@

You really don't need any sort of VoIP, I have done this fight with 2 non-NA that are in my FC, and the most communication we have needed is a party macro with <se.9> or <se.10> in it to let people know that Weight of the Land is next and they need to be alert.

You don't even have to memorize the entire final rotation or have people call it out. We got by with healers knowing Landslide > Mountain buster so heal/stoneskin/virus when you see Landslide. Run in when Gaol is used to prepare for stomps, then run out and stay out till the next jail as there are no Weights between Gaol and Stomps.

You forgot: Anyone who gets hit by a weight/landslide before heart should be yelled at, spammed and forced to wear a diaper.

The best solution is to have everyone stand in safe spot, hug Landslide, then run into the landslide animation right after the cast bar is done. Then, there's no new movement required for circle and cross bombs. For row bombs, standing behind titan might be wiser, when he is on top of the center rock on the safe row.

There kinda is for the cross. It is a lot easier if people just stand next to bombs then wait for landslide before moving away from them. It's a general tip in that final phase, when bombs are up you need to lead Landslide to a spot where it will allow you room to avoid both it and bombs, with some arrangements requiring less adjustment from previous phases.

The 3 rows of bombs, with the 3rd row being right next to Titan, is what was tripping up our group as if you don't lead Landslide correctly you have nowhere to run and have to take something.

I would just stand behind him in that case.

I'll have to have our group try that next time, it simplifies that a whole lot. I just wasn't sure there was enough room to avoid the middle row if you do that.

How do you get experience when no one wants inexperienced people in the fight?

For the inexperienced to get experienced what I can advise is joining a helpful Free Company. Trust me I'm in one of the most helpful ones on Gilgamesh and they help people out all the time through all the different content. We have full FC parties all the time just for the sole purpose of teaching others the fight and completing content.

Or maybe they understand the need to practice and fail a number of times before people can master it. I understand wanting to run with people who are capable. But everyone has to start somewhere. Very very good players wipe their first few times through that one.

Wipes are there to teach you what you did wrong :D Nonetheless, I applaud your willingness to help and the helpfulness of your FC. However, that is very rare to find, hence - why many are stuck at Titan HM and are unable to complete it. Every server needs more players just like yourself.
