Bard Fantasy XIV A Bard Reborn and Cloned 100,000,000 times.

So I was barding on my bard in the bard-bard when, out of nowhere, I barded that there were a lot of bards in the bard.

Man... it's a bard knock bard for a bard these days. A bard barded in the woods and no one barded. I guess that's just the way the bard bards. Anyway, bards in glass bards shouldn't throw bards but that's just my two bards.

I guess you can never have enough bards.

What are you barding about? You certainly can bard enough bards. A bard in need is a bard indeed.

I was barding in 1.0 back when nobody wanted to bard. That makes me bardly special. /hipster glasses.

Actually...graphics have been downgraded for ARR.

I've always played bow classes in every single RPG/MMORPG if possible, all the way from Ragnarok Online to WoW, GW1, GW2, Diablo 3, Cabal, and now FFXIV. Probably a few more games in there somewhere, all bow classes.

Can someone tell me why some people are nostalgic about XIV(the original)? That game was dreadful, how the hell anyone could've liked that hell spawn of an MMO is beyond me.

Lock those people up in a physc ward and take their money and belongings away from them.

No, because FFXIV 1.0 is still the same game as FFXIV ARR. Just tweaked mechanics. But they are both XIV.

Did you play 1.0 in the last few months before it finished the story line? If not, why are you talking? For people who actually played through to the end, FFXIV has been three games, not two. FFXIV launch, FFXIV 1.0 (last year of 1.0) and FFXIV ARR. All three are very different from each other and 1.0 was a lot of fun to play.

when 1.0 first started it was virtually unplayable. The combat system was boring, there was virtually nothing on the map, and had very little to do. There was a major storyline but what do you do after that? Plus leveling classes were very unreasonable, and we had 'physical level' on top of class level. Let's not even go there with the retainers. This was the Tanaka era, which thankfully didn't last long.

When Yoshida took the reigns, things started to change for the better. It started with the beastmen stronghold, and then Ifrit (easy and hard mode). Eventually materias came on. Retainers were tolerable. Physical levels were abolished, class leveling mattered a great deal more. A new storyline was introduced that eventually lead to the beginning of the 7th Umbral Era, where Von Insano (aka Nael Von Darnus) became the primary antagonist. We also saw two new dungeons (Cutter's Cry and Aurum Vale), as well as the Hamlet Defense. Of course let's not forget Garuda (and we could've probably gotten Titan too in 1.0 if the big earthquake didn't happen in March 2011) This is what Yoshida's Era brought us.

It was quite amazing how much Yoshida's team tried to keep FFXIV going despite several nagging limitation, which required the game to be completely rebuilt.

A game isn't defined by it's environment. If that was the case, launch would have been as much fun to play as the end of 1.0 but it, clearly, wasn't. It is defined by it's mechanics and what the player has to do to be effective. Limiting action selection to your current job plus two other classes, implementing combos, and defining the roles each job plays in a party is a huge difference from how you played the launch classes. It feels like you are playing a different game when the changes are that drastic. It is less a different between 1.0 and ARR than launch and 1.0 if you are being objective, but no one who didn't play the end of 1.0 seems to understand that.

Not all of 1.0 was bad. Coerthas has turned from an area with a great atmosphere and environment into a bland white wasteland, for instance. Also, 2.0 is too fast-paced in general for my taste. Just my opinion though.

Most people I know refer to what you're talking about as 1.0, 1.2x, and 2.0/ARR Never heard anyone refer to "FFXIV Launch"

Graphically it was far superior. Even if it had copy pasted terrain, the way the game handled lighting was better in most cases (though ARR has better shadow mapping). The models were high polygon count as well, and the textures were, as far as I can tell, higher resolution.

Copy-pasting terrain landmarks has nothing to do with the graphics.

Really? there's more Dragoons than Bards... surely.

Still, all versions of FFXIV still have FFXIV in the title, same game with tweaks.

Just like starwars galaxies was still called starwars galaxies after CU and NGE. Only starwars galaxies started good and went to shit lol
