High-level crafters beware: You get suspended if you sell to players who bought gil

Happened today to an FC Member of us aswell, he was also crafting HQ 2 stars and selling them on the marketplace and per trade requests and got banned due to no reason.. i mean HOW on earth should some1 know if some other dude got his 700k gil via AH, grinding or if he had bought it over RMT????

NEVER seen such an unfair situation in any MMO ive played so far. Normally the GIL buyer should get banned not the ppl they trade with.... simply because u can never KNOW for sure as a person if the other individual plays the game fair or got the gil on a legit way.

Kudos to the other ppl which got a temp ban hope u get your stuff back!

Maybe I'll hold on to that Coke after all and not sell it to the next person shouting to pay 70k per for them.

SE sometimes flags normal players as RMT if they make a lot of gil. Obviously they shouldn't but they do make mistakes a lot when it comes to people with a lot of gil.

What makes you (or the Reddit poster) think that they were suspended for selling to a player who bought gil?

It seems like the player was banned and he's just guessing as to the cause...

That is sad news. I hope those accounts get sorted out, and SE return/compensate your lost playing days. Also hoping that they purge the gil created through third party software though, and keep the legit ones.

Pretty silly that afking and death-running to ninja chests in DF isn't against the rules, but simply crafting and selling items using the tools SE provides is.

Wonder if the people making money selling titan runs for 700k+ will be suspended as well.

Wow. If this is indeed the case then SE needs to issue a huge apology and some compensation to those who were banned without doing anything illegal.

So do I have to be extremely cautious about successfully making gil off of spiritbonding / materia selling? Or selling hq's off of my goldsmithing? This seems a bit ridiculous.

Its not that you have to much gil SE just wanted to Gate how much you could make per week! Endgame crafting!

Well, if they managed to clean up the dirty gil while still retaining honest players' progress and honestly generated gil this way (sorry for you guys who get banned for a few days and lost game time) then SE definitely has my respect.

At first I was skeptical but then you read the reddit thread and there's like 5-10 other people reporting the same thing. All banned for selling really rare stuff on markets and seemingly having 10+m gil. Could SE really be that stupid? .... don't answer that.

Cause if u read it on reddit, the emails they get tell the same story of TOS violation AND all say the same, they had all over 8digits gil (same as our FC Member) and were trading over the Marketplace and via "Trade" requests. And i now atleast for myself, that our FC Member got his gil over trading and the marketplace, he leveled nearly 5 DoH to max and has on every DoH HQ T2 crafts made. Its 100% legit - he did buy "coke" from other players but then again - coke is earned via philosophy tomestones and a normal trading good.

So u count 1+1 = suspended.

Won´t quote the whole email here from him, cause i don´t know if that would violate the TOS.

I made over 13 million gil on my character by being one of the first high level crafters being able to make relics and one of the first high level gatherers, I did NOTHING illegal and never associated with RMT or the like. My account was also suspended. (This was my character "Lalafell Lafell" on the server Gilgamesh)

so if anyone who buys off the auction house items you made you can get banned? that makes no sense. I think the private party sells are the most dangerous to deal with but regardless its still worrisome if any is the case that could get you banned

Kind of concerning, I've made quite a bit of gil in the past few days off of selling Peacock Ore. :/

But getting ban for a legit thing, that sucks.

So then... Half this game is dead to me then, was bad enough with Potash/etc came from tomestones, now apparently you can be banned for making stuff with it... Jesus Christ Square, just remove crafting altogether if you don't want anyone doing it....

It sounds like it more a mater of the amount of gil they managed to generate flagged their account. It's freeking funny as heck that they would suspend or ban an account for too much gil when they allow account to sit in general chat spamming for hours on end.

It sounds like an automated ban on anyone with 10M+ gil. If that's true, the developer responsible should slap himself.

Let's also not discount the fact that he might just be out and out lying. We only have his word that's why he was banned. Might have been botting, or doing other things to get banned. Is there a chance he got mistakenly banned? Sure. It is more probable that he's trying to deflect blame though.

If you took the time and looked at the reddit thread, there are other people who are having the same problem, not just one person.

Yeah that thread has already reached over 100 replies. I'm at work right and am curious if anyone from my FC was caught with the ban hammer.

I knew this would come so I spent about 500 gil on auction house and did not sell anything at all. FF14's teams are obviously mostly automated, and with such comes customer cruelty. On the other hand, mmos face stiff competition these days, so it is super important to make them cheap as possible to run (again automation).

I wonder if they gonna start banning high level people next, because I am trying to level up all classes. Anyone from SE willing to disclose if that is the next step in the banning?

Hi guys, I'm posting on behalf of my crafter friend on Adamantoise. Her name is Fiora Aeterna. We both made a sizeable profit from crafting HQ 2 star items and selling them on the market board. Yes we do know that the items are expensive but that's cause the philosophy items itself are hard to come by (60k~ on our server) and that very few people would be willing to buy these items, but that does not mean that we are part of the RMT transactions at all. In my case, I haven't gotten any suspension email or warning, but Fiora wasn't so lucky.

In my belief here's what happened that flagged her account. She monopolized the HQ mailbreaker item for quite a while. There was two sale that seem to have involved a gil seller, but it's not concrete proof at all that Fiora was dealing with RMT. It could have just been a gil seller buying a high level item and trade it to his client for real cash. If SE is so quick to hand out the ban hammer without full investigation then they should have just put a cap on gil or market price to begin with.

In her defense, she always sell on the auction house and you can't really help who buy what on it.

Sounds like an auto ban system if you have more then 10m, I been selling relic weapons but only made 4m so far. I am not banned or anything.

But you're totally right.

Everything placed on the market has a chance of being bought by a RMT. We have no control over who buys our items.

This is just going to make me avoid both crafting and spending any gil at all other than repairs.

Here is an idea; SE bans the Gil Sellers. They ban the Gil Buyers. Demand for the "ridiculously" priced items drops with no more Gil Buyers. People lower the price because of that, if buying Gil is indeed the only way to afford such prices (it isn't).

Nope. Instead, lets ban the sellers, the legitimate players who took their crafts to 50 with the intent of making money. Lets lower the supply of these items even more, that wont drive prices up or anything... Low supply and ridiculously high demand? Why, that has never resulted in insanely inflated prices !

Soooo basically you're saying until the RMTers are banned, it's perfectly fine for the RMT money to be transferred from the buyer to these crafters, and the crafters (who should know this is going on to some extent) shouldn't be punished at all and it's ok to keep these high prices as long as RMT money is coming in? They're not the ones buying the gil so it's ok, right? I'm not saying this is totally what is going on, but I honestly don't think these people with 10mil+ gil are totally innocent. Do I think a ban/perma ban is a little harsh in this situation? Sure.

Is the people who got banned have 8 figures or something? That isn't very hard to make on a legacy server where there were some people who started with 99m and 2 retainers full of gil.

Okay, i'm calling BS on this right now. It's deflecting, trying to make Square look like the one doing wrong. Most of the people in the thread gloss over this part, and bold the part about RMT.

It never said they got banned because of crafting or selling or what, just what the posters say happened. Some of the wording of the people saying they were banned, like this passage:

Seems to say they were exploiting, as i hear that from exploiters all the time, "The game lets us do it, how can it be an exploit?", like the Titan bug, the Coil bug, or the exploit with allagan gold pieces on the AH.

What would you suggest we do instead, though? Not sell anything, because Gil Buyers are about? That's inane. Lower the prices? To what? What exactly is a non-ridiculous price? Supply/Demand dictates an items value, if the Demand is skewed by Gil Buyers that is not the fault of the seller.

Like I said a lot of legacy people started at gil cap which would be 99m so selling several 2 star items for several million is not uncommon.
