How useful is Parry and/or DEX
From testing it is possible to reach a Parry rate of ~25% by stacking Parry at ~480 and DEX ~244 keep in mind though that only some skills and ino magic is possible to Parry. So what you would end up with is 25% Chance to Parry 24% Damage of ~40% of damage which comes out to about 2.4% Mitigation.
What you would see on normal gear without trying to add more Parry or DEX is ~15% chance to Parry 24% of 40% of Damage or 1.4% Mitigation. So by adding around 55 DEX and 40 Parry you can hope to increase your overall Mitigation by 1%.
On some fights were there is multiple mobs and tons of AA damage the results will be a bit higher, but overall DEX and Parry is useless to gear for.

Recommended Cross Class Skills (You can only use 5)

• Flash - Gladiator Lvl 8 - Increases Enmity in all nearby enemies. - GCD
• Convalescence - Gladiator Lvl 10 Increases HP restored by spells or actions by 20% - 120s CD
• Provoke - Gladiator Lvl 22 - Gesture threateningly, increasing enmity in target. (puts you to the top of the Enmity List) - 40s CD
• Featherfoot - Puglist Lvl 4 - Increases Evasion by 15% for 15s - 90s CD
• Second Wind - Puglist Lvl 8 - Instantly restores own HP. Cure potency varies with current attack power. - 120s CD
• Internal Release - Puglist Lvl 12 - Increases critical hit rate by 20% - 60s CD

War Party Composition vs Paladin - and Endgame

For each STR Warrior there should be 2 x Healers - Healers should Heal 60% of the time and apply DOTs/Damage 40% of the time + Cleric Stance swap.

War (170 DPS, 2X Healers 140 DPS + 120% Healing) 310 DPS

Typical VIT Paladin party consists of 1 Healer and 1 DD.

PLD (110 DPS, DD 200 DPS) Total 310 DPS


STR War 2x Healers VS VIT PLD 1x Healer

So, that setup would put Warrior in a bit better situation than Paladin in just Shield Oath. Paladin still has it's CD's Rampart and Sentinel which will reduce the damage from 800 DPS to 747 DPS in 180 Second Intervals.

So since both will be taking less damage than heals that's good. What if they were taking 1200 DPS

1200 DPS to WAR **excess of 96 DPS
960 DPS to PLD (Reduced to 896 on 180s Intervals) **excess of 96 DPS

So given a STR War vs VIT PLD they have nearly the same HP in the same tier of gear. So in that scenario, they would die at the same time.

I don't include Convalescence because they both have it. PLD's is 30% compared to WAR 20%, but with the Buff from Defiance and 120% more heals with two healers it's really splitting hairs. Also, Bulwark is about as effective as Bloodbath.
What Warrior is missing over Paladin is they Hallowed Ground type Skill.

Thrill of Battle, while absorbing damage outside of Max HP, it's not quite the invincibility that Paladin gets, but it's on a 120s CD vs 420s

WAR VS Duty Finder

Because Duty Finder uses premade parties (2Tanks, 2Healers, 4DD's) you will not end up with a party composition that is best for playing Warrior. Luckily in any of the 4 man content, none of the damage scales high enough to make your self heals useless, except Titan.
In the case of Titan, if you have your own premade group of 3 healers 1 War, 4 DD's then it will be fine. But what if you want to Duty Finder it? In the case of Two Warriors, two healers should be fine to bring you past the heart phase, at which point you will be best to swap out with the other Warrior after each set of Mountain Rush's.
Warrior has enough CD's to easily survive a full phase with two Mountain Rush's. Inner Beast + Infuriate on the first and Thrill of Battle on the second. Then the next Warrior can sub in (Provoke). By the next round, both Infuriate and Thrill of Battle will be off CD before you need it.
If you DF and there is a Paladin in the party, well....good thing you went full STR. Outside of Defiance you should be able to hit between 180-200 DPS depending on gear. You will also have a great HP pool and, you will be raising the Paladin's Enmity and Damage by ~11% because of Storm's Eye so in total, you will be one of the top DPSers.

Good stuff and very useful information. I didn't know about the bloodbath stacking with vengeance. And now I know...

I personally prefer Featherfoot over Second Wind because the HP healed isn't that great, I also like to take Flash as it's good for crowd control when positioning isn't perfect for Overpower.

Vengeance is 15 sec, not 30.
And the health returned from is ridiculous, the only decent use of vengeance is as a wrath manager.

30 strength gives about 3.8% DPS. I really don't get why people keep thinking it's worthwhile, let alone ''key'' to warrior success.

Thanks. I must have mixed the time up with the Wrath buff. I'll double check, and then make the change.

While the health returned from Vengeance stacked with Bloodbath is very small, it is consistant (always 25% of a 50 Potency hit). So if you have 6 mobs doing light damage, then it's a great health buffer, that also adds enmity to those mobs hitting you.

Here is a list of benefits with a comparision as to why I think STR is important for Warrior. This deals mainly with "Spike Damage" that Warrior will receive.

While you don't want to neglect your HP Pool (VIT) you also want to be able to reduce your overall spike damage received through self heals. So there definitely is a balancing act there.

More information on Featherfoot's utility would be greatly appreciated. I like it too, but because Second Wind has a guaranteed return effect I decided to go with it.

Flash is also a very useful skill. I have been working Infuriate + Steel Cyclone into my own rotation to open a spot for the other cross class skills, but Flash is an invaluable back-up until it's perfected.

I have a question. You use Convalencence and then IB>Infuriate>IB. Would it be better to stack Convalence with the 15% cure buff providing by Infuriate?

And Conva doesn't work for our self heal btw, only heal that are casted on us.

I will have to double check, but I think that Convalescence increases healing by both spells and abilities. Second Wind is a static heal so I will test it a bit more using Convalescence to confirm. If that checks out then I will doubly confirm it stacks with the 300% healed from Inner Beast.

Sorry that it seems a bit unprofessional to not have confirmed 100% with data backed testing, but I wanted to get the idea out for others to play with. From what I could eyeball during boss fights etc there was a difference. Which doesn't exactly mean squat. I'll try and get some hard numbers this weekend.

So far that I and other people can see, Inner beast heals your damage dealt x3 and is never effected by anything outside damage dealt. :( The modifier for Second Wind is attack power only.

I think you might be right. Inner Beast can't be effected by anything else since it's a straight damage -> 300% absorb.

It might still effect Second Wind due to it having a potency modifier, but in saying that it would seem Convalescence would be more effective in another situation regardless.

Skills used directly after a pull is something I've been wondering about. Like there's a lot of ways to do it and maybe mine not certainly the best.

According to http://valk.dancing-mad.com/?page_id=231 , Steel Cyclone is barely half the agro of Flash. Similar for Overpower. Not sure that source is entirely correct, but it's not something I can test easily myself. So compare to this plan:

My scenario here has 6 weaponskill abilities. So 15 sec about. Assuming OP's scenario is followed by HS/SS/BB combo, then my scenario is ahead on primary target threat because HS already happening by the 10 sec mark. Fast primary target threat is for those eager DPSers - flash/overpower alone can't keep up in my experience.

Comments? Like I said, I think there's room for improvement here. But not obvious to me yet.

For Enmity numbers, Flash and Overpower are about the same. Steel Cyclone generates ~2/3 the enmity that they do. For sleep purposes, Flash would be the best choice, but most groups just burn down the mobs, which you need a lot of AOE emnity for.
Each group you party with may be a little different and your choice of skills looks pretty solid.

Lol, a 2.0 to my guide eh? It's not too bad but I'd point out the error on suggesting Mantra. It's 5% if you use it cross class and is overridden by a Monk as their bonus is 20%, making their healing contribution well sought out for in end game and necessary to have a 6th skill to swap out for as these are common even when doing dungeon finder PUG groups. You also swapped internal release for featherfoot, I would like to see the math on an STR warrior on why you are suggesting this.

I would also point out the unnecessary /wait commands in your macros- Macro logic is very clear about using the first available ability in a sequence.

Lastly is the point of those "Warrior combo" macros not being sure-fire. Adding a /wait 2.5 will work most of the time, but if you lag for even a second or miss either the initial heavy swing or skull sunder your macro will force the player to waste an un-combo'd butcher's block and potentially a skull sunder and this should be noted in your guide.

You guide is very informative as well. I have been piecing mine together for a couple weeks. Although it wasn't polished, I figured there was enough info to toss it up here on the OF.

Thank you very much in pointing that out about Mantra. I definitely overlooked that it was not 10%, as I didn't even read the skill text since Phase 3. Even if it stacked with PGL/MNK, that 5% is pretty useless. I will probably swap the Internal Release for Featherfoot or Awareness. Featherfoot seems better by far as on a miss damage would negate to 0, where as a critical only deals ~40% more damage and is not common on endgame bosses and only trash mobs.

I like to keep Internal Release for the HP Absorb Macro. Adding an additional 20% onto the 10% from having Infuriate tends to make Second Wind and Inner Beast Crit very often.

Edited: I added in some of my math from what you can gain from stacking STR. It's not fully complete.

The reason for the /wait command in my Macro is because I want all those skills to fire in order to buff the double Inner Beast. Without the /wait line, the accuracy of the Macro is not very good. Although as a macro, it can fire the first buffed Inner Beast in ~1.5 seconds.

Having those two Combo's Macro'd does take some getting used to, as you are correct that if you run out of range of the mob or doing anything that would cause a skill to "error" then it will move to the next skill in order effectively losing your combo bonus. I'm working on a way too for it to trigger the next skill during the 3/4 of the GCD so as to speed up the macro as well. Managing that skillset by Macro is pretty straight forward and really cleans up the action bar. I will add a warning of the issues to the macro guide though, in case there are those that may not be familiar with the function of Macro's.

I wouldn't pay to much attention to what he said regarding stats. While STR does help with Enmity/Self Heals/Parry ( maybe ), VIT is way better in almost every aspect. Stoneskin, Defiance, Vit Pots, etc all benefit greatly from Vitality.

I updated the guide to include suggested balance for STR/VIT, which I feel is better than saying A > B, since there is a balance and neither should be neglected.

You are right about the importance of VIT and it's effects. (I'm not trying to educate you, as you are so far into endgame and obviously quite skilled, but only using your examples to emphasize the importance)

6k HP + Stoneskin = 1080 HP Shield
7k HP + Stoneskin = 1260 HP Shield

- A larger HP pool increases your natural regen of HP (Refresh)
- VIT Pots to a degree as they are "% up to X" so if your % is much higher then you are still capped to X

A very large HP pool is very good as long as your healers can keep up. Gear to Gear with other classes Enmity is not really an issue for Warrior, so STR is definitely not needed in that regard. Too little HP and you wont survive the yoyo-effect of damage taken.

A very good point, but unless you provide clear examples the OP can't include it in his guide or won't so his guide isn't as confusing. Some fights favor more evasion, true, but no boss has a notably high crit rate worth the 25% crit reduction bonus in lieu of dodge that I've run into yet. A good point on second wind that should be noted, I tend to pop it just prior to berserk to maximize damage.

No testing I have read shows a significant gain in adding Parry. So whatever comes standard on your gear is fine.
Why not use Macro's for grouping skills? Using them in that way is much faster.

Lol it's fine Xero- the kid's trolling all the guides on the forums. I have a theory as to why after researching his gear:

a) It consists of full darklight and an AF2 helm (proof of heavy AK farming) instead of the ring, in which he has a crafted 50 stacking shit materia instead of starting with the ring and working with honest stat increases
b) His Bravura+1 shows he either has an FC to pug through content as his FC doesn't consist of a similarly geared 8 man team of note
c) He's pissed because the guides are "wrong for end game" consistently, meaning he's probably trying to pug coils of Bahamat and is mad because nobody wants him.

Hopefully he realizes that with 5 minutes and a bit of research it's amazing what you can find and piece together. He got blasted on mine yet wants to continue shitting on yours so I thought I'd provide a bit of a back story should anyone reading be taking him seriously.

With around 380 STR and Bravura you are looking at a high probabilty of a 1000+ HP crit off a single Second Wind when used with Berserk - especially when used with Inner Release. - Without Berserk (Edited: Thanks) you're looking at about 700 with a Crit.

Featherfoot is pretty situational and the small % that it adds to your evasion is too risky on bosses. I'd rather have a guaranteed 600 (Berserked) (with a chance of 1000+ on a crit) on Mountain Rush than an extra % on an already small chance to evade with Featherfoot.

You're so wrong. Featherfoot is easily our most effective cooldown in terms of damage prevention over the course of a fight. It may not be reliable, but it is our most potent cooldown assuming a majority of the boss' damage is evadable. The only time it falls behind is when there are un-dodgable aoe's making up a large portion of the damage taken. In that case, Convalescence pulls into the lead as most effective, but only by a little.

On Caduceus, my mitigation cooldowns consist of the following (Keeping in mind that Wrath V is my primary mitigation. Infuriate is used right after Inner Beast. I can't let Wrath V drop, ever.)

I use Inner Beast every 60 seconds.


In order to further assist my healers When I'm at Wrath V, I use Thrill of Battle and Convalescence Macro'ed. That way even though there is more HP to heal, there's also that much healing potency. The Macro of Convalescence and Thrill of Battle is used every other Infuriate.

As for my other self heals: they are based on my attack power, so it's very important to keep Berserk on cooldown at all times. I have Berserk just macro'ed in about everything. But what about the 5 sec Pacification? It doesn't matter. I'm still in a Wrath V state so that's my passive mitigation I need and the damage boost from Berserk insures that I don't lose any hate. Also macro'ed in to most of my abilities is Internal Release. I want these abilities always to be on cooldown because of the following reasons.

There's is a constant use of Second Wind in every single ability. I want to use Second Wind when it's up always because I'm not concerned for over healing. I'll always be taking plenty of damage, heh. That's why I always want my Attack power to be at it's max. Having Internal Release also helps insure a Crit. Featherfoot is also kept on cooldown.

Also used together are Foresight and Bloodbath and Vengeance. The amount that Foresight mitigates is compounded by the amount that Bloodbath combined with Vengeance heals so that I get plenty of mitigation. Some people will ask, "Does Foresight harm how much Vengeance hits for?" The answer is no. This is because Vengeance deals damage potency of 50 no matter what. It doesn't scale off the damage you receive, only the damage YOU are capable of. All the more reason to keep Berserk on Cooldown. Bloodbath of course, is the same way, dealing damage based on your attack power.

So... in conclusion... the best mitigation cooldown is actually Berserk as it raises the effectiveness of all others by 50% (save ToB and Convalescence) including Inner Beast.

EDIT: A funny thing happened last time I did this. After a wipe, a WHM asked if something was wrong because he was running out of mana and that didn't happen usually. I said "Yeah you were trying to cure me through 4 stacks of steel scales." He was shocked because usually a PLD will start sink at 3 and be obliterated at 4, unless they use Hallowed Ground.

If you could post some parser data to the effect of Featherfoot on evasion during Lvl i90 content that would be very helpful.
I do include Featherfoot in the guide as an included skill for most things. If you feel that Featherfoot is highly effective for engame bosses, please post some data on it, as it would be invaluable for people to know for tanking as well as for any class.

What are you on about. Why would it be invaluable for any other class? The only class tanking ilvl 90 content that can use Featherfoot is the WAR. It's not suddenly going to make LNC or PGL able to take more than 2 hits from a boss, so I don't see hwy you're saying "as well as for any other class."

And second, why do you need a parser? It's 15% evasion. It's RNG based but that works out to significant amount of damage mitigation over the course of a fight particularly if it's used on cooldown. 1 evade on a 0 stack Caduceus is worth around 2.5 Second Winds, and you're expected around 1.2 evades per use of the skill which is on a 90 second cooldown.

Third, you're seriously saying you would rather rely on crit second wind for 1000 health than the evasion from featherfoot? Is that a joke? You're relying on RNG either way, but one just has a much lower efficacy and higher cooldown.

Finally, Bravura does nothing to increase the healing of second wind other than the fact that it has STR on it. So you're essentially relying on Berserk + Internal Release + Second Wind in order to maybe heal yourself for 1000 hp. Congrats, your "emergency" heal now requires a lucky crit, and 3 seconds worth of casting.

I would still like to see some parse data on Featherfoot. Unless there is an error on translation it states, "Increases evasion by 15%" So if you have a 10% evasion rate and you pop Featherfoot, that would give you 11.5% chance.

From my Second Wind testing, Weapon Stats effect the effectiveness as well. I'm not certain if it's the Physical Damage or the DPS value that effects it. I would need to collect weapons with the same DPS value but different Delay values to know for sure.

Uh, since people want to see testing on the stats, someone over on reddit tested the 15/15 int/mind vs 30 int split for summoner (15/15 being for playing both sch and summoner)

His tests are there, it effectively works out to a ~3.3% difference in dps between 15 and 30, which given that the 15 gained is ~3.26% of his 442 int, lends heavily to the theory that attributes are a straight linear curve

Taking that and using it on the OP's numbers, given he's at 352 str -> that's a roughly 8.5% gain, 12.7% under berserk.

Whether that is worth the hp lost from vit is debateable, but those are the numbers.

Iirc, that's what has been documented in testing as well; the only issue is that the HP gained from allocating points to VIT is not wasted during progression atm, it can (and most likely will) end up saving your ass.
