How much Determination is 1 Mind

I was wondering how many Determination you need to make up for 1 Mind in healing.

I'm sure some people have run tests already and figured out the formula for both stats but I can't find it.

The problem is that I want to start gearing for Endgame, but I'm unsure if losing 9 Determination to gain 5 Mind for example is a) a good trade, b) pretty much equal or c) a bad trade.

1 Mind=0.49 hp cured. 6 Determination= just above that at 0.51 according the calculator.

Determination is worse than I thought then. But neither stat is really phantastic.

You may see Determination as a "bad" stat because you are only comparing it to Mind, but the reality is it increases more than just healing. Determination increases healing as well as all damage (weapon skills, spells, and auto attack). One stat to increase all those things is not too shabby.

Then maybe you should start casting some DoT's.

If you're doing damage you're hitting cleric stance first anyway in which case the mnd = int.

If anything, considering how Mind is more or less "capped" regarding Materia melding on any gear a self-respecting healer would use, Determination is the only real way to go if you want more efficient heals. And besides, when thinking of Determination, you should compare it to Spell Speed or Crit, not Mind. :p

As far as i'm aware Determination does not equal you (healer) healing better, but affects how well your heals hit the other player, IE tanks with more determination will be healed better. For example, take 2 almost identical Paladins, the only difference is one has 200 determination and the other only has 100. My heal will affect the one with 200 better and heal for more then the one with only 100 determination. It of course adds much more then just healing, but that is how it affects heals

Someone brings this up in nearly every thread discussing Determination. I see your main is listed as Conjurer, so I have a very simple test for you: Go into town and cast Regen on a low-level crafter (they will have low Det, likely 30 or so). Make note of the healing tics. Then cast Regen on yourself with your 200+ Det.

Pretty sure the healing tics will be the same.

Determination is a stat to directly increase your output, be it weapon skill damage, spell damage, healing, or auto attacks.

Rizzo is correct, if my healing were based on the amount of determination other people had, my cures, regens, and medicas would have hugely varied results on each individual target. This is not the case though, Determination is for yourself only.

I've personally tested this on our main tank. I had him wear full gear, cast Cure 1, average 910 healing. Had him take off all his gear, still an average of 910 healing. Tested this multiple times with multiple spells, just to see if his determination changed anything at all. We used specific +determination materia enhanced gear as well, nothing changed.

When I fill in my character stats from the Lodestone, that page tells me my average cure ought to be around 1920hp with crits into the 2090 range.

Actual cures are more like 725, crits to 1100.

Are we sure that calculator is accurate?

I not even knew magic dmg would increase healing!

Yeah that calculator doest seem to show the right figures. I put in my 393 MND, 291 DET and 400 potency and get 210 hp heal, while I m healing for 700-800 hp. If I put there my 219 Magic Damage as well I get 2100 hp heal, which is an absolute nonsense Oo

219 Magic damage? This is wrong 4sure. You have to put in your weapon dmg äs explained so often...

Thanks for that tip. Still not sure on the calculator. :)

Using my weapon's Magic Damage stat gets me closer to the value of a Cure (757.22) but the crit-adjusted value isn't close (776.7). I also think the suggested 5% crit chance is a bit low, though I haven't parsed my combat data to see for sure.
