Then I realize everything make sense about why Yoshi is making FFXIV so easy.

SE need to make MONEY out of China market first, then come back to implement more as a whole to FFXIV international.

Maybe FFXIV will actually be saved by China, similar to what WOW did.

Not all Chinese players are RMT you know :/ but i guess it would increase the rmts regardless.

in many Asian countries, the majority of the kids who play MMO do play them at internet coffee, there are literally 1-2 of those internet shops at every street corner everywhere.

The thing is that most of the shops have rather cheap and not up to date hardware and while games like WoW, Ro and a zillion of other asian free to play and PtP MMO games run on every machine, FFXIV does not.
Nor was there any prepaid card based payment method introduced for FF yet.
The games are not played by monthly subscription, plus all installed games must function with any account, ergo no unique IP, serials and so on.

well damn you musta quit 5 months ago because thats when the RMT population boomed accross all servers. You might not see them in your play time but rest asured they are around..

SE sold XIV to chinese provider just because they want to separate RMT to play on their own world (I didn't mean all chinese players are RMT but... little amount of all chinese = a lot)

and there's nothing to do with how they developing the game

So this is probably a result of the bad automatic translation, but did Yoshi-P mention in the interview that there would be UI changes coming along with the battle changes, and that they are in fact working on optimizing game performance?

As I've said before, RMT thrives in rarity-based economies. I haven't seen much of that in this game so far. The moment you start really going towards rarity-based, you'll start seeing RMT gain steam.

The lack of rarity in this game is why the economy is so terrible. Fear of RMT shouldn't mean the game has to suffer. I'll happily put up with RMT if it means a functioning economy.

yup he did. not gonna translate word for word but basically he said that

the battle system and UI changes are the top priorities right now. reaction time in the user interface and the strengthening of display information (not sure what this means) have improved a lot from previous patches. next phase in game development would be to further improve UI in conjunction with the improvement of the battle system. i know very well that the lack of game content is of great concern, but unless the battle system is revamped first, we cannot proffer... "game-ability"... "gamingness" ... "essence of the game." (i can't think of a better way to translate this sorry). so, concurrent with our efforts to repair the battle system and UI, we are prioritizing the creation of endgame content. although i've only been executive producer for about four months, the game has undergone tremendous overhaul. there will be even bigger changes in the future, so please stay tuned for further updates to the ffxiv international edition.

I can say.... a certain JP linkshell I am in has talked about chinese RMT lol. i doubt they would be too adamant to hear FFXIV will be released in china.

But if they do have their own servers, then not much cause for alarm lol.

Chinese version players wont be playing on JP/NA servers they already said that.

can't imagine how bad or what kind of chaos will happen in their server

I used to try one MMO on chinese server, they're really bad. everyone can kill-stealing, loot items on the ground which belong to the other players, botting, mob-training and do everything they want

their "Yin-Yang" (opposite) should be japanese server

I think they are talking about both since they are very closely related. I could be wrong though. Regardless, since they've been working on the overhauls for the past 4 months and we have yet to see any of them in action, they should logically come in quite fast succession, if not all at the same time, for the next 6 months. While it took them time to get started, the ball is rolling.

I think this will only benefit us in the long run. If the specs are too high for internet cafés, they have more pressure to improve the game engine. Although I don't think their plan was to have a huge community right from the get-go, but slowly and steadily let the playerbase grow, just like with XI.

The Chinese version will be running on there own servers so they will not be playing on ours, so I was lead to believe anyway.

Eorzeapedia always asks pretty specific questions (Yasu even commented on that at E310) the problem is SE only gives generic emails when it was Tanaka. Hopefully once Yoshi-p starts giving out more interviews and can speak about upcoming changes without it being speculation we'll get more and more better interviews.

News of this came about around the time the game was released. IIRC, China will have their own servers. They will not be playing with JP/NA/EU.

Japanese players would have an aneurysmal fit if they let Chinese people on their servers.

China has the largest online gaming industry in the world. of the 12million WoW players around, 7 million of them are from China and WoW isnt even the #1 MMO in China to give you the general idea of how huge the gaming industry is over there.

If FFXIV becomes successful in China, theres enough online gamers to warrant a China only server, if not several.

Theres a lot to gain for SE to tap into this market.
