Live letter- What does this mean?

Y: There isnt much arcanist healers as its harder to play.
Y: But as you level scholar you'll be able to heal really good.
Y: there are lots of things you can try out.
Y: we also had a bonus for healers.
Y:for conjurer we had unicorns
Y: if we are short on healers we might have to do some more bonuses.


Does this mean scholars are gonna get some cool stuff? or maybe a umm *cough* FIX TO PET AI?

This was when they expected healers to be in short supply. The issue now is they need to give bonuses to tanks. Healers have 20+ queue times now lol. There's plenty of us around.

Edit: For whatever reason they failed to guess that ACN(being the new, hot class) would be overly abundant on all servers and that DPS times sucking would entice most players to roll SCH to shorten the times.

Fixing Pet AI though should be a standard fix, and I support that. GL

If that's the case then they are just flat out delusional. I have never seen so many healers in an MMO in the past decade of my MMO life. As I mentioned before, post lvl 30. I have 20+minute queue time for a lot of instances(Not including AK, I"m aware that is usually full).

I just reread that section of the translation. Their reasoning is that they are short on low lvl healers except their reward is a lvl 30 mount but when we hit 30 the number of healers skyrockets because of Jobs lol.

Ya, when it comes to pet AI Selene definitely feels unusable due to her shoddy AI logic atm. It is rather frustrating attempting to make use of the speed skill+ only for her to use skill speed+ soon after which appears to overwrite the other speed+ ability.

Then of course if she heals just once she decides it's then a good time to use her silence ability which makes that ability rather useless lol.

Do hope they fix her a tad cause she could see better use but with how she is setup atm, she can be rather unruly/inefficient. I would say that perhaps the easiest way to fix it would be to allow us to set if the skill should always be auto or manual, and when a skill is set to manual the only time they'll ever use it is if we tell them to, since "stay" doesn't do that job, once they heal or use one ability they'll decide to use the rest of their abilities making it quite difficult to use them for the best circumstances.

So, Selene is pretty sweet if you set her to Obey. To do this target the enemy or some enemy and press the Obey key on the pet bar. It will make it so that you can manually control her special abilities and she will still throw out heals. So you get to decide what speed is up, and you can silence if you need to which is useful on some bosses, but our silence is worse than other classes since it is tied to a pet.

At earlier levels (1-30) you have a shortage of healers for instances since only one class can queue for it. Raw numbers issue here.

At later levels you have a shortage of tanks because higher instances need a tank that actually knows what the hell they're doing and isn't constantly turning the boss and screwing up DPS positioning or making it so that cone effects get blasted back towards those positioning DPS *facepalm*. Or, everyone who wanted to roll as a tank has hit max level, gotten their AF gear, and gotten bored of it seeing no advantage to continue when they're losing more from their repair bills than the instance rewards.

Ultimately the problem lies in the lack of incentive for people to re-run instances as a healer or tank. This is why most just fate-grind their levels. It isn't that scholars are less powerful, or even the fact that they take more skill. It's the fact that dungeon instances are not worth their time once you get through the story and grind out AF.

Sorry if you think healers are not in short supply you are playing a different game, or you are not level 50.

Every other /shout (in between the gold spammers), is Looking for WHM for Chimera, for Hydra, For HM Titan, for HM Garuda.... Occasional Looking for Scholar or ranged DPS

Not that I mind... as a white mage.

i hear se said healers are the lowest played class follow by tank.

SCH is not harder to play then a WHM. If anything it's the opposite. Nearly zero emity management, laughable MP issues, the double edged fairing doing stuff FOR you (though yeah, that needs a fix, bad AI) WHM's have it much, much harder then SCH do in my opinion. At least when it comes to proper spell usage, hate management, and MP consumption. One mistake will send a WHM into aggro. One resurrect will harm our MP pool by a lot, unless we pop SoS. Playing a SCH on a friends account, I didn't have to worry about any of that. It was almost sickening how safe SCH feels compared to WHM in these basic gameplay regards.

No. Scratch those, and the difficulties are there. You can throw that argument at any class that lacks something and add another class to compensate it. Doesn't mean the difficulty isn't there. SCH doesn't have these difficulties ALONE. That should tell you something. SCH is safe and very easy to play, sans the Ferry in my opinion as a result of all low hate management and mana conservation. Things that a WHM needs to manage and balance, even with a good tank (Medica Baby, makes from green to yellow/orange with my HP) and with Ballad (so another class gives us some regen, doesn't change the fact that we need to keep on our toes. A raise and that's all gone. The SCH would not be in the same predicament given the skillsets) are things that a SCH will likely never if rarely need to balance.

The key difference between WMG and SCH is that with SCH, atleast if you want to use it to its fullest, you have to juggle alot more at once than a WMG, especially if you're also calling out adds or marking, all without the ability to knock away and sleep. WMG can get out of most of this because their MP pool usually isn't large enough that they can attack or do anything other than spam-heal through the fight. SCH on the otherhand ends up being expected to also do dps and maintain their DoTs in addition to healing.

Even with the mana-regen capabilities as a SCH, the party heals still cost too much for what they actually heal... The damage soak for each cast doesn't help very much when a character needs full life+shield in order to survive a hit and is mostly just there to give us time to heal each person individually when affected by a DoT effect like poison.

I disagree. You dont have to juggle hate or MP, whereas a WHM will need to constantly keep an eye on these aspects of gameplay in addition to healing and at times, DPSing/throwing DoTs on targets, sleeping targets, keeping people alive, etc. A lot of people are under the impression that just because they have the spells, that they need to use them. WHM's can and are asked to do that too. It's not something class specific. I still feel that when played to the fullest, both healers take a lot of skill skill, but due to inherit class mechanics, WHM's will require more to reach SCH's level of ease in terms of mana regeneration and hate management, two gameplay concepts that healers have usually had to worry about in MMO's.

In the same limelight, SCH pays by not having competent pet UI, weaker overall heals, and generally less healing options, though they make up for that with more mitigation options. I'll take my raw healing power/options anyday, but that still doesn't mean that the classes are okay/in a good spot with eachother.

Just my 2c.

@Arale if sch is so op like you said, why dnt you lvl one so? not harder at all, im sch also, im just sch 49, and belive the shield from heal dnt do milagres, and the heals are not so good to emergencial situations, i wish can trade my shield from heals for a regen anytime, and belive fairie have a large cd besides if not single target healing, at my char photo im using that set just for fashion, not healing with that if wondering.

On Excalibur that's the case... More people want WHM due to regen stacks... It's why I'll gear my WHM and not my SCH... Unless SE decides to nerf regens.

1.0 and 2.0 WHM... I don't have enmity issues... SoS isn't for mana regen its for enmity control. Mana regen is nothing but an added benefit. If you pull hate off a target you are either overhealing or you have a poor tank. If you have a good tank but use medica 1/2 alot then the fault lies with the DD of the group. Regen, being that it heals for more than cure, is often better to use than cure. 1- It's an instant cast. 2- hate is per tick and not all at once like cure. Carefully planned out use of skills can lessen enmity generated.
